Discontinued paint list

21 posts in this topic

Is there a listing of the discontinued paint and triads?

Also are some of the discontinued paints replaced with new paints that are close in color.

Thanks

Adam

*really Big Snip*

Why did some of these go by the way-side? Some of these traids seem very intuitive.

Do you have a suggestion for those colors no longer carried? Specifically, I had the entire line of R ProPaint inks & washes prior to my divorce which required leaving behind 90% of my paint supplies. And as I'm getting back into the hobby, & intro'ing my son & nephew, I'd love to help them get the great looks my older models enjoy.

Typically if a miniature or a bottle of paint doesn't have enough sales to keep it going its removed from the line and replaced with something else. In the case of miniatures its always available through the Reaper Store but paints are gone forever.

A handful of the discontinued Master Series paint colours have made it back in the Old Favourites triads. I believe there are some of the original Pro Paint colours scattered throughout the Master Series and Master Series HD lines. (Oiled Leather and Walnut are two colours that come to mind.)

If you're looking for a replacement for the Pro Paint line, you might be more interested in the new Master Series HD line than the core Master Series. These aren't the same exact formulations as the old Pro Paints, but are designed to go on in fewer coats, and come in a set of non-triad colours like the Pro Paints did.

If you'd prefer to mix and match among the lines to build your own set, there's a recent thread in the Painting Tips & Advice forum where people discuss suggestions for good colours to purchase, and if you go back a bit in that forum you'll find some other similar threads.

I am going to miss some of those Triads - I still have some of the Blue-Violet and Sea Blues, but less than half of the mid tones in each.

I also use the liners a good deal.

:(

Reading the forums, the "dips" appears to be the way to go for shading, for main-line troops (in my case, lots of Bretonnian Peasants).

Suggestions for replacement of the colored inks from the newer MSP line? Playing Bretonnians, I clearly remember using some of the colored inks from the old GW line - but not being familiar w/ even their old stuff, I am clueless about their new stuff, other than still overpriced.

Is there a list of EVERY paint that has ever been produced in the MSP line (sku/name), including the ones that are no longer available? I'd like to see if I'm missing any of the older colors and try to track them down.

(**does anyone really need this many colors of paint? I mean, I have them all as far as I can tell but some of them never get used. Like ever.**)

Welcome to our Asylum away from Home!

I cannot speak for the MSP inks, but I have been told by a certain *goblin* that Coat D'Arms inks are the same as the old Citadel stuff...

I am eagerly awaiting an order to test this....

Thank you for this list.

I was going through the pamphlets included with Bones III (trying to get an idea of the paints I will need) and kept hitting empty slots.  Now I know what is missing.

I know this is a bit of threado-mancy, but it's already been raised once.  Another time shouldn't hurt it.

It should be noted that, with the Bones 3 kickstarter, the Red and Green liners have returned:

Red liner: 09307

Green liner: 09308

They are not on the Reaper store page yet, but probably will be before long.

Huzzah!
