lol, now I'm wishing I'd have spent a bit more time on my highlights. But that's really cool to know; I will continue work on my army with renewed vigor! (Speaking of which, I should probably head on over to the WIP section of the forum and get posting...)

Last year Kim Goforth won a really sweet banner for having the best painted army. No idea what Reaper has planned for this years tourny though........

Sucha dilemma. I love to dress up. I have oodles of piratey costume pieces. BUT! ReaperCon for me is an all-about-the-painting con, and I'm severely accident prone - which means if I'm painting in a corset/costume, I have to be resigned to the fact that I might get paint on it. Do I risk my lovelies? Fashion or practicality? Alack, alack! What's a girl to do?

Also, can I breathe well enough in a corset to get through the anxiety of teaching a 2 hour class without passing out? Will any of my students know CPR if I do stop breathing? Will Reaper have oxygen tanks on hand to revive me?

I figure if I get paint on a costume I'll just have to make a new one. :D That said, I am having trouble deciding based on constraints like temperature (tends to be warm) and space (5-foot wings not likely to be appreciated by people who get hit in the face with them).

Maybe this is a bad idea and all, given that it's a pirate-themed con, but I'm totally showing up in my ninja costume! (Mainly because I already have a pretty good ninja costume but no pirate costume.) However, I already know that there's little chance of me trying to paint in the full costume since the gloves tend to decrease my finger dexterity and since I'd probably die of heat stroke with the black head-wrap on in the face of the Texas sun... I do kind of want to see Inarah's 5-foot wings, though. ::):

Ok. A a newer member of the forum and a (relatively) naive Canadian, I'm just wondering how serious you people are about costumes at the con.

I appologize if I am infringing on a private joke but I just gotta know!

Actually the costume thing is a new one to Reapercon. Last year was the first year costumes were officially encouraged and rewarded for. All the other times I have been everyone is usually in casual clothes with the majority in a reapercon or gaming shirt in general.
I am actually bringing one costume I already have for sure and hoping to make another.

MC, Based on last year. 90% of the people will be regular street clothes. 10% will be in costume. But, over time and a few more RCons they hope to raise that number up.

Presumably, more people in costume garner more pictures on the net, that garner more clicks from non Reaper regulars and eventually more interest of others to try and come the next time.... in my opinion, that is how Animefest got so big so fast, all the crazy and sometimes risque' costumes generating almost as much interest as the convention items.
