I've been noticing that on these forums there are a lot of new people who haven't assigned avatar pictures to themselves. If you are one of these, please, please set up an avatar picture of some sort. It makes it more difficult to sort through who's saying what in a topic thread when half the respondants have the blank person avatar picture.

I'm a very visually centered person and quickly associate people with their avatars and when so many people don't have one it gets confusing.

I will now remove my avatar, and torment you until you teach me the painting secrets you learned from the monks.

Avatar? I just use a photo...

Yes, it's my real face. But not my real hair.

Huh. Speaking as a poster of some six or seven years, I've never noticed a large influx of non-avatar users. There may have been one or two newbs guilty of this in the past couple months or so, but not so many as to drive anybody crazy. (I would think, anyway.)

I tend to notice others not using avatars, since I don't care for them myself, much.

Bruunwald, yours is the first non-avatar I've seen recently. Mind you I don't get around to some parts of the forum as much as others.

I"m just thankful that members have to request handle-changes through forum admininstrator. Having belonged to another forum on which members could (and did) change their names like I change my socks (at least twice a week sometimes LOL), I must say this way is better.

Allot of the avatar/no avatar stuff happened when the board was upgraded. Some reason it swapped the profile pic with the avatar pic. Did that to me so I figured I'd use the opportunity to change my avatar (2nd one & the first one was 2003 to 2011!!!)

Besides, who else has the Saints & the Oregon Ducks as signature pics??? :blues: :blues: :blues:

I would look just like my avatar if my girlfriend didn't object. Sigh.

There you go. Now revel in the glory that is my awesomeness. (or just... you know... stare at me blankly. That works too)

I've never given it much thought, but seeing Avatars does make identifying others alot easier. I do notice when members change their avatars which causes me to take a second glance at it

If you really want to drive Andy crazy, change your avatar about once a week!

I actually do look like my avatar... No, really, I really am a green skull in an Irish hat, lol.

(Well, okay, it's not actually me in the pic, but the hat is mine, and I did take the photograph...)

This was taken at my High school reunion last winter.
I got to see my old friend the chameleon and he's doing great, and that skanky woof the glass lizard who stood me up on my first date totally let herself go.
The sunglasses were an testament to how good I felt at the time.
