Less than a month! What are you looking forward to the most?

Recommended Posts

In less than a month we will start congregating in Denton. I can't wait to see everyone and have another great ReaperCon.

What are you looking forward to the most?

To crush the bones from those nasty Razigs, to eat sushi made of Karkarions and to hunt Maersuluth with my own bare hands hahahahaha

Long live the Stormchasers LOL

I'm mostly looking forward to taking everyone's ReaperBucks on Sunday at the auction, and running yet another new version of the traditional Reaper dungeoncrawl. It will have a bit of a twist this year.

I haven't painted anything in nearly a year. I'm hoping to regain some inspiration and motivation....

I'm mostly excited to meet everyone. I won't say not to some games and mingling with the artist though.

For me it's the whole trip. RCon time has really been the only time I get out of town & I mean outside of Boise (biggest city "near (60 miles away)" me).

Seeing everyone again. Being at Reaper. Being at the BW after hours.

Just being on vacation. It's all good to me.

Now for real...

I´ve been waiting for this Con for the past six months (since when I decided to use my vacations for it). I have to confess i´m a little bit nervous since it will be my first trip all alone to USA (i´ve been there a lot of times, but always with my parents) and I´m one of the only foreigners who will attend to the Con (as far as I know)

I´m really excited with the possibility to learn from so many pro painters, whose work I only saw in magazines and the internet. I really hope my painting skills got a boost after the Con

And of course I´m anxious to meet you guys and have fun during and off the Con.

I would say I'm looking forward to the whole shebang! I'm also looking forward to showing off the new paint set and doing some demos. The Warlord tourney is also high on the list.

For me its all about the classes and the people. I'm really excited I got a few of my friends interested this year so BW after hours should be great fun. Last year I didn't really get a chance to meet to many people so this year I plan to make up for it.

And to top it all off, 2 days off of work can never be complained about!

I'm looking forward to seeing all of my Reaper "family" again, especially the ones that I don't get to see more than once or so a year.

Also, I can't wait for everyone to see what's up with the Warlord tournament this time around. It is going to rock!

Hello fine people (and other assorted things) of the Reaper forum!

Continuing in our project of teaming up to show you two different methods to go about painting the same miniature, Buglips and I decided that we would do a WIP thread for Con Crud, Convention Zombie from the 2017 Reapercon swag bag! He's a great little figure, sculpted by Gene Van Horne, that we thought we could have some fun with.

This will be our second shared WIP thread in this series of ours, in case you missed it, check out our first one where we painted Thanis the Bonecaller:

As with that one, I will be covering my usual method of painting for display, and Buglips will be approaching the figure with his own usual "fast-but-decent method." As with the last one, Buglips' method will be much faster than mine will be and you'll get to see where our two styles diverge. We will be sharing our own issues, thoughts and methods with you in the hopes that someone will find such things useful.

      So on to the mini!
Here's my Con Crud, fresh out of his blister:

I prepped him in my usual way, with some diamond files to grind off the mold lines and bit of flash that you can see on his outstretched foot and hand. He has some notable mold lines through his hair and back and down the left (his left) side of his face. I'll show you throughout the process how I'll tackle those.

So here he is after I primed him with Reaper's Brush-On Primer in white, thinned down with some water. As usual, I only did one thin coat so as not to obscure the details on him and I took a couple of additional shots from different angles so you can see some of the mold lines that I'll need to work on a little more down the road.

Entry four of four at ReaperCon.  Another great sculpt from Greebo Games.  I had a lot of fun with the flames, and was my first go with wet blending.

This was an old Soda Pop miniature that I think I received as a promo.  It's been setting in a box for 10+ years as one of those models that was waiting for me to be "good enough".  He was a blast to paint, and I was kind of amazed at how well flesh tones worked for hair color.  Entry three of four at ReaperCon.

      Comments and Critiques welcome.

This is the end result of my WIP thread
This was the first bust I had painted, and the second of four entries at ReaperCon.
