Ok, this is sounding more and more like a BBQ roadtrip than a convention!

I'm not complaining.... just sayin'

I will have a car and a GPS. Now all I need are some friends with directions and a good appetite!

I don´t have the directions, but have the appetite...! Can I join in? LOL

If you are up for a road trip, there is a church in Huntsville, TX called New Zion Missionary Baptist. They quite literally built their house of worship on their BBQ. It is worth the stop if you are ever driving between Dallas and Houston.

There are 4-5 world class places if you want to take 4 hour road trips all over Texas. (Zion, Luling, Llano, etc..)

There are several local places that, while I wouldn't put them on the same level, I will give them the credit of being only one step less...
Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell (about 20 minutes from Reaper) would be near the top of that list. I really like Tredway for places under 10 minutes from Reaper.

We have a couple of Brazilian style places around Dallas as well, and a couple of them are pretty good, but they are all $$$ for some unknown reason.

I'm gonna have to try Tredway since it's so darn close. The worst part about leavin' for lunch though is I hate losing my parking spot ;)

That is a big consideration. Parking has gotten tighter and tighter every year at the convention. Please don't park in no parking zones, they aren't kidding when they say you will get towed. Don't block the loading docks, deliverys still need to be made.

There's a place called Metzler's that's only five or six miles from Reaper that has decent BBQ, good German food, and a hooge wine and beer selection. On Fridays and Saturday nights they also do All You Can Eat ribs and catfish, which I always view as a personal challenge.

There have been several times that I have made a detour through Llano specifically for the BBQ there.

But he's coming from Kanuckistan so Llano is out of the way.

Out of the way, or a planned detour? Hmm...

If he's going to go out of the way may as well come to Driftwood, Texas and eat at the Salt Lick.
