Customs (EU related question)

31 posts in this topic

As a newcomer, and a future costumer I hope you can answer the following. Is costums included in the € pricetags? Or does Reaper have a EU branch where they send out packages?

I ask because custom tarifs are fairly steep the side of the pond.

Customs fees due in the country of delivery are usually not included in the catalog price.

We don't add VAT in the price. You're responsible for local tariffs.

Would I love to get an EU office for European fulfillment? You bet!

Thanks. All of the replies above have been informative.

I asked because Rockstar Games managed to get a deal going last year, where customs was added to the shipping cost. And it was nice not having to pony up the extra cash when the post man came around (I just had to get those Red Dead Redemption playing cards for my Deadlands game).

And you really should get an EU office.

I have. Often. I've already told Ed that I'll be first in line to move to Europe.

Do you really believe Ed is going to let his IT guru move to Europe? It's a great idea, but I don't see Ed & Dave ever letting you escape from Reaper HQ.

I got it all figgered out. I can do everything I need to do remotely. :;):

Hi! I'm new on the forums, and found this thread about customs.

I've heard all kinds of different stories about orders from Reaper that were shipped to Europe. I live in the Netherlands, and I'm thinking about buying the current Bones kickstarter "Vampire" deal.

The thing is, I've read about someone's order from Reaper never getting delivered because it was stopped by customs. I've also read that people had no trouble at all.

I just want to be sure that when I order, the shipment will get through, and if it should get stopped at customs, how much that would cost me extra.

Is there anyone who can point me in a direction to find out about this? Experiences with Dutch orders?

Thanks! I hope I can become a backer too!

Sjeng.

Came across this last night which might be helpful to you.

http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/

Figures out any fees which you may need to pay on your end of things based on the order's value and what not. Also, there is this from the FAQ:

Not sure one what the chances are that a package will get hung up in customs though for you. Most of the time it goes smoothly, however like everything else - sometimes there is a snag along the way. I can't imagine it not making it to you though - it just might have to sit on a shelf for an extra couple days as a functionary decides when to stamp it and send it through.

Thanks for that!

Well, for a $100,- Vampire pledge plus $25,- shipping, that would equal €101,30 over which 19% VAT will be calculated = €19,25. Then the post office will calculate €12,50 handling costs, totalling in €133,05 ($164,17) maximum.

That kinda sucks... I'm going to have to pay 64% more just because I live in Europe. I wish Reaper had an office in Europe. But I'm still tempted though, those mini's are simply awesome. I guess I'll have to try and sell some mini's off to earn some money back, if that's allowed, that is... I'll wait a few more days and see what gets added to the vampire level ;) gogo pledgers!

I simply love Reaper's sculpts so it's really still worth it.

Thanks again Bob!

Sounds like it might be time for a revolution in the Netherlands. ^_^ Every time they mention VAT over here I cringe.

Seriously though, I think by the time this thing is done - even with all the customs and other fees that they like to tack onto things over there you will still be down to a dollar per miniature or less. At that point, it really becomes hard to pass up.

Not only that, if you buy a bunch of the extras with your Vampire, they don't get declared, thus not taxed, dutied or counted.

You're going to have to explain that to me, because I don't understand. How would that work? Would extra miniatures do, or the storage case (which looks super)? :O

      Hello everyone,

Over in the Bones 4 Kickstarter enthusiasm thread, there seemed to be quite a few people calling for a list of the new bones figures coming because of the kickstarter. I had a spreadsheet that I'd been using for the previous kickstarters and have tacked a Bones 4 sheet onto it. This is open for editing by anyone to edit and fix things I've missed.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dFN0lQL096zQMq8KG5aXcgrA7-VEIEoU6W-ujck7kj4/edit#gid=142862380 (same as linked in my signature).

Entries are group by set (core, expansions, add ons, etc) and sorted by display order on the Kickstarter images.
Reference numbers are from the Kickstarter images -- for the most part, some are made up to make discussions easier.
The colors of the "Reference #" and "Group" columns match the colors of the backgrounds of the Kickstarter update images or for late additions, the Pledge Manager.

Specifically for the Bones 4 sheet several of the rows have red background colors. The red background "Name" entries are where I've not been able to determine the correct name from either update images or sneak preview videos. Red background "Existing Part #" entries are where I've not been able to determine if the figure is a new sculpt or what the existing figure's number is.

One thing you'll notice is that there are counts in columns E-F of all sheets, and a date entry field in column G. These counts come from my Bones Kickstarter painted mini tracking spreadsheet. Column E is a full count of the figures you'd receive if you pledged for one of everything in the Kickstarter (except count of bases). Column F is a count of minis that are painted. G2 is a count of unpainted minis and H2 is a percentage of collection that is unpainted.

Hopefully this is helpful to others out there.

So, here's one I tripped over on Kickstarter:

Basically, someone's doing miniatures... which didn't really grab me, until I saw the one for Edgar Allen Poe.  I'm from Baltimore, so I have to get that one.  And there's an HP Lovecraft, and some other cool stuff.  What do others think?

Has anyone started compiling a list of the Bones 4 figures?

It would be awesome if there was a master spreadsheet with listings of each figure with links to the reapermini.com image for all the Bones Kickstarters... I have my personal one, but it's missing quite a few figures I decided not to paint, and there are still many Bones 3 figs not listed on the site.

Ending in four days - Redshirts: Adventures in Absurdity

Sometimes the greatest adventure in space is simply surviving the orders of your captain. Redshirts brings laughs to your gaming table

Sounds like fun - I am in for $10 - with no real intent of ever running the beastie.

      A short adventure series, covering levels 1 - 3.

Mission 1: The Terrible Tacos: When Captain Ginny wakes up after a weekend bender with an intense craving for tacos, she decides to send her newly arrived recruits on their first mission. Unfortunately for the recruits, the local Taco Galaxy is under deadly new management. Mission 2: The Cheaper Cleaner: Stuck in a surveillance mission around a dying star, first officer Laisse Faire decides to save a few credits and send the PCs to pick up his dry cleaning instead of paying for delivery. He's sure the quarantine around the planet won't be a problem.  Mission 3: The Pirate Bonanza: When several important pieces of the ship's engine go missing, the PCs are sent shopping at the local space pirate flea market with a budget of $0 and the Captain expecting change back. Can the PCs get the ship back in working order or will they end up swabbing the decks of a pirate ship for the rest of their days?
You are the away team for an incompetent captain, on a less than stellar starship.

Reminds me more of the old SF classic(?) Quark than Star Trek...

Finally finished up the Gunny Peegs this weekend - was mostly finishing off the basing. They are small guinnea pigs, with guns, from one of Bad Squiddo Games' Kickstarter (although I believe they are available on her site as well now)
