If anyone is interested, I'm currently seeing the Slave I expansion listed on a certain South American River site for $19. If It's still that come payday, I have a strong feeling I won't be able to resist buying my first large-base ship, despite my already busted budget.

Welcome to the addic...club.  I meant to say "club."   ::D:   The secret pass-phrase is "mistakes were made."  (Link is to the Direman web comic.)

And I'll second what Grayfax said about "Most Wanted."

Oh, I've got plans to grab Most Wanted eventually. But if I can grab the Firespray for $20 I'm going to grab it while I can even if the Imperial version is technically inferior. I'm not looking to play in professional tournaments or anything. I don't even really have anyone to play with currently. I'm gonna try to introduce some friends to it in a week, and introduce the FLGS to it tonight, but I don't have any guarantees that anyone will start. And while my roommate has the original Core Set, he's home maybe 3 or 4 months of the year. The rest of the time he's out of town for work.

If I thought that my nephew could grasp it, I'd introduce him. But he's just turning 7 and still doesn't really have the attention span or reading skills.

Outside of Boba Fett, I wouldn't call the Imp Firespray pilots inferior.  I would call them Scum, so it is a more appropriate faction to be in.  There is a 3x Firespray list that you can only do with the Imperial version, since the Scum version costs just a little bit more.

Finding friends to play with you is a lot easier if you are the one buying all the ships.  :)

Flew my first game in the winter league at my FLGS, also my first X-Wing game in any kind of organized play format.  Had fun despite not making anything go boom.  I came out of it with a big win despite a severe mismatch in point values (I don't have a very large collection) due to the scenario objectives.  I think my opponent expected me to want to dogfight rather than rush to claim the objective points and ended up with his ships out of position while mine screamed by at top speed.  If he had been in a better position to engage it would have hurt, I was very much outmatched in terms of ability to generate hits on ships.

In the end I had fun, because even though I didn't blow anything up it was pretty tense as I expected him to blow me out of space at any point.

I'm not so sure I'd want to get hit by a missile with a "dog brain" AI.

Second league game did not go as well for me.  Mission this time was for me to destroy ships carrying illicit cargo from one table edge to the other.  I totally botched the deployment and it was over before it started.  Oh well, live and learn. :)  Played another game after that since it went by so quickly.  Lost that one too.  :zombie: Still two games left, and I'm sitting 1-1, so we'll see how things go from here.  To be honest, I'm just having fun getting out of the house and rolling dice.

Having fun is the important part.  What ships did you use?

A couple of Rookie Pilot X-Wings and a Dutch Vander Y-Wing with an ion cannon turret for the league.  Despite having bought in when it first released I fell off the wagon quickly, so my collection is relatively small.  For the second game I used a couple that I hadn't used since purchasing them, a Ten Numb B-Wing, one of the named Z-95s (Lieutenant something or other), and a Red Squadron X-Wing.

Played the third and penultimate game for the league on Saturday.  I lost again, but not nearly as badly as last week.  The scenario was to dock with a broken down large base ship and recover the six stranded crew member (max of one per turn).  My opponent had an advantage in that he had gone out bought the just released Sabine's Tie Fighter which has an upgrade card that prevented me from attacking it.  He just kept it docked recovering crew members and there wasn't anything I could do about it.  Also didn't help that some good rolls on his part took out my TIE Bomber in the second turn which I had planned to use to hit his larger ships with torpedoes and missiles.  I did however manage to recover two crew members, take out his Poe Dameron T-70 X-Wing (the one from Heroes of the Resistance), and he accidentally flew his B-Wing off the table.  Waiting to see how this impacts the standings.

I flew a TIE Defender (the pilot skill 8 card, can't remember the name at the moment) with Predator and Autoblaster, Maarek Stele TIE Advanced with Determination, Major Rhymer TIE Bomber with Deadeye and a collection of ordnance, and Colonel Jendon Lambda-class Shuttle with ST-321, Ion Cannon, and another upgrade I can't remember at the moment.

Forgot to mention the final game.  I lost again. :(  This time wholly due to player error, I made a very stupid mistake in the first turn and one of my ships ended up too far away and facing the wrong direction.  I've also discovered that TIE Defenders aren't as sturdy as I thought they'd be.  I did at least take one of his out and put a hurt on another, but not enough to make a difference.  Live and learn...  So I ended up with a 1-3 record, not sure what the objective point standings are, but I'd be surprised if there's anyone who didn't win a single game.  Tonight's the AAR and awards get together. :)

So, despite a 1-3 record, I came in 6th out of 10.  After having not really played in a couple years I'll take it, and the freebies for participating.

This is a Kickstarter BUT I'm posting it here for the alternate x-Wing rules.  They turn X-Wing into a Mario Kart game -
