Thanks for the kind reply, Jay! The cartoon look of the Vultures is what I love about them also. They fit the mood of The Rhino.

You have to be careful hanging with Glitter; re, you could get a  dose of sparkly, rainbow fleas.

There are times when nothing seems like it worth the effort. SO progress on The Rhino has been slow at best.

I did the base colors on both sides:

AND some further work on one side. This gives a hint as to where I am going with the Beasty:

I may push myself to do more later...or not.

Loving it !!!

Interesting base coat blue on this one !

I can't even attempt to imagine what color you will arrive and stop at.

Great choice though, you can go anywhere with this one !

Thanks for the moral boosting reply, Jay. I have no idea where I am going exactly either...it makes the trip more interesting.

I am happy you are enjoying it.

I just love what you have done with your rhino ... he will defenetly stand out in the crowd , in a very good way ... and probably be coppied in one way or another (to flatter you) .

Thanks, Boaz. I am glad you like The Rhino. If James Christensen ever sees my take on his illustration I hope he will like it as well.

Sorry to hear that you've got a case of the blahs; I hope you get over it soon!

Thanks for the well wishes, Wolf. These things only last a little while with me; then I'm back to my annoyingly merry self.

As I plod along with The Rhino, I have some more Mushrooms underway...there is nothing quite as cheery as a Mushroom.

I'm doing some with loooooong, thin stems like these real types:

or these artificial types:

but creepier.

creepy but with a feminine vibe would be perfect for those long stemmed mushrooms!

That sounds like something to look forward to. :winkthumbs:

I have found that lately going from one related project to another, while taking long to complete anything, tends to keep it all fresh & interesting.

Things have changed a lot since I was a young fellow painting & modeling toy soldiers for historical games, but the joy of it all remains unchanged.

...now THAT is a SPLENDID idea. I got an image of Morticia Addams go slithering gracefully through my head.

WOW!  Since my last visit to this thread.  Just wow, Al.  The entirety of your twisted Mushroom Kingdom is wonderful!  So many colors and so vibrant and strange.  It feels like a place of faerie and both wondrous and dangerous at the same time.

The goblin guards are perfect as others have said.  I just recently got those same goblins, and I really like the character of them, had I not seen them for you and your thread, I would not have considered them.

And the Rhino.  Nicely done.  It feels almost samurai-ish the way the armor is, or even East Indian, to use the antiquated term, given the way the armor is made.  It feels like silk armor with hardened bands of metal or hardened wood.  Add to that the vultures on the back (I just learned of birds helping Rhinos in the wild in the real world with longer vision), this is both a great addition and feels appropriate to the perception of this rhino as a much more dangerous creature.  I really like that.
