Here's an idea for a Reaper Christmas product

Recommended Posts

You know those Christmas countdown calendars you can get, where you open each of the 24 days in turn and there's usually something behind the number 'door' - a picture, or in the more elaborate ones a chocolate etc.

Well...... Imagine one of those with random Reaper bones minis behind each door! Obviously would be the smaller bones minis for the most part, but they could be randomly inserted by the packing staff so that no two calendars was identical - adds to the mystery and fun aspect and creates more interest for gift giving etc. Could be another entry point for new collectors/painters too.

I guess the calendar itself would be a sturdy-ish thin cardboard frame with a perforated door over each recess. There must be manufacturers out there already making this sort of stuff where you get calendars with items/chocolates etc.

Anyway, just my random thought - now it's time for everyone to speculate and wishlist so that Reaper hopefully listen and consider :)

Which minis would you add - would you add paints or other non-bones etc items? Not sure how that would go for accidental spillage etc in transit so bones seems the more viable path but hey, this is a thread full of Christmas wish-magic right? ;)

It's a cool idea, but is it economically viable? Those things have like two dozen spaces, which even with the smaller Bones starts to hit $50 territory.

You might be better off getting one of those chocolate advent calendars and replacing the chocolates with minis personally chosen for the recipient.

Shoot the Lego Advent calendars all run around $40, this is a great idea!

I looked up what an advent cabin is, that's neat, I'd do something else crazy like an Advent Dungeon or Advent-ture, you clear one dungeon room a day, and the loot is that days prize or whatever. You could have the whole dungeon already set up with tiles or whatever.

"Advent-ture."

...

Augh.

EDIT: The pun is spencerjohn's, from the post immediately above mine. If you're going to "like", please "like" his post, as he is the actual witty person.

I usually just get the cheapo cardboard advent calendars with chocolates in them. This year I found one with a neat picture of teddy bears >.>b

Though, we may be getting the lego star wars advent calendar this year. It has droids, which I love. If I could buy just the droids from legos, I would (which I can do on ebay, but it's fairly low on list of nerd priorities).

You can also get wooden advent calendars from Micheal's around this time of year which you paint up yourself and add the goodies to.

I love the calendar idea. I could picture each date on the calendar as a dungeon door that you open and get a new mini, paint pot, etc.

Speaking of Christmas ideas, I've been hoping for a nativity scene with Mouslings.

Aw thanks Pingo!

The Advent Dungeon Crawl is starting to tempt me, short and sweet game sessions. So I need to come up with 24 small treasure/rewards, bleh!

This year is one of the few where the Advent calendars are going to be right. Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, which this year is the 1st of December.

My Chrismas advent calendar was hand made of felt by my mother-in-law. It has little felt ornaments that you hang on a felt tree.

When one of the prizes was lost last year I replaced it with Chrismas-thulu. (he has a santa hat and tenatcels)

When I got my Secret Sophie assignment and  saw that I got @Corporea to paint for, I knew almost instantly what I wanted to paint for her. She put that she likes anything adorable and cute plus I know she likes mouslings so I knew I had to paint one for her. As I was going through my stash I found that had the Santa one and knew it was perfect. I also knew I wanted to pair it with a Christmas tree but it took me a while to settle on how I wanted to do the tree. Mainly I was flipping back and forth between making or buying one. I ended up making one out of greenstuff and am really happy with how it turned out.

The last ornament! This one a little more ambitious; a vignette showing perhaps an aspect of the Winter Solstice. The spirit of cold and death being checked. The days are getting longer again now.

Here's the Ghost King, in shades of Ice Blue, Toxic Mist, Dark Sky, and Oozing Purple (w/Ushabti Bone).

      And our heavenly host!

Another Christmas ornament made! The ice chunks are, of course, just styrofoam bits. The polar bear was a Schleich; a bit big even for a large bear, but fine for a celestial ursine.

Here's the angel outside the ornament. The Enochian glyphs on her cape are intended to read "Stay Frosty."

It got late, so change of plans and here he is:

Painted in 1 evening, using only 4 colors. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

Colors: Splintered bone, Turkey Brown, Nightsky Blue and Blackened Brown. I was just going to use the first 3, but decided I needed something darker to finish it up.

Even with last month's minis still grumbling on the table, like a Lovecraftian protagonist I shamble onward further...for All Months Are One in Yog-Sothoth! IA! IA!...sorry about that...anyhow here are the upcoming victims....

Santa Mousling and Helper, who are mostly done thankfully.

Two Mariel Twinspars. They will be the 3rd and 4th time painting her, and are intended as gifts for the long suffering waitresses who put up with me each Weds. These having an actual time limit, will be started later today.

Two Shrines, an Obelisk, and an Eldritch Demon. Only 3 terrain pieces this time so hopefully grey fatigue won't be an issue.

5 Cultists. I'm hoping I can get the Witch Hunters done and off the table before starting these because they're gonna brawl if I don't!

5 Deep Ones. I may attempt some converting/limb movement on the Bones Priest so as to differenciate him from his metal counterpart.

The Santa Dwarf is the only other actual Christmas mini in the lineup, (but who knows what the 12 days of Reaper might bring..) and both version of S'Kara the Skoli who I have a vague plan to work into a project involving York Peppermint Patties...

And Vikings. Because nothing captures the spirit of the Holidays quite like Vikings! They're might wind up in the January thread however, depending on how far out of the hole I can dig myself...
