Bonus!  DM's son is starting his Eagle project, so we are rescheduling Sunday's D&D.  I didn't even have to grovel.

I should be there, barring horrific events.

Now to decide what I want to work on…and to see if I can remember where my portable kit is stashed.

Excellent it will be good to see you again.  And just to keep lazy people from having to go back a page (ok ok, really it's for me), here is the info again.

Just got home from swinging by Pat's.  Looks like we are good for the 1st.  I also found out that my memory was faulty and he opens at 11am on Sat. So....

New England Paint Paint Paint Day: February 1st

Location: Citadel Game Cellar, 565 Long Hill Road, Groton CT

Hours: 11am-5pm

Mad Jack

Chaos Wolf

Arrd Rinn

Divish

klarg1

Qwiksilver (depending on groveling ability)

Let's try and answer some of the questions:

1. I will have my paints there.  However I don't have all paints.  I've got bith sets of the HD paints and about 70 MSPs.  I have a good selection of colors (I'm a bit light on purples and pinks and oranges)  I wasn't planning on bringing my ProPaints but can if someone needs a color.  If you don't want to bring all your paints but are worried about having a particular color, ask and I'll let you know if I have it. (this may change;see point 3.)

2. Electrical:  There are outlets available.  I'll be bringing a power strip and a lamp or two.  There is ok overhead lighting over the tables.  Plenty of table space and chairs available

3.  While I was there, Pat mentioned that he still had to follow up on ordering a paint line to stock.  I used the Force for personal gain, pulled a Jedi mind trick, and while I was standing go Pat to order the MSP line.  When I left, is distributor was contacting Reaper.  So there is a chance that we will be able to buy MSP by the time the paint day rolls around.  I foresee many more impulse purchaces on my part.

4.  Shopping:  As MadJack stated above, Pat carries all kinds of older stuff, minis, RPG and board games. Some shelves are like time capsules.  He does not carry everything.  I found out today that he offers a 10% discount special orders.  So if there is anything odd that you were looking for, he may be abl to get it for you by then.  Just sayin'.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.  Any questions, just feel free to ask.

Additionally we may have some newbie painters showing up.  Seem like a couple of guys I was stationed in Norfolk with are up here now and may be forming a nucleus of a gaminging group.  I've invited them to try the dark side of mini painting and it appears likely they will attend.  More converts!  Now where did I put that "special" kool-aid?

Just spotted this thread.  I'm in the target demographic for this, but not sure if I can make it.  We're not into motorcycle weather yet, though I could theoretically hitch a ride with klarg or Quiksilver (maybe others... not sure where they live).  The first is also scheduled for PFRPG, but I'll do a double-check to see if we're still on.

Depending on where exactly in Mass you are and how hard it is to get to South Station Amtrak stops in New London about a 10-15 minute drive from the store. One of us locals could possibly shuttle you depending on the train schedule.

I can give you a ride. Let me know if you think you can attend.

Excellent, more sacrifices to the paint gods, people to paint with!

Anne accepts human sacrifice? The more the merrier!

when he has his times set, I would be surprised if Qwyk didn't volunteer for my Sweet Wm's (his DM's son) project

Cool, more people! We should all get name tags or something, so we can ID each other. Also, what's this about kool-aid?

I confirmed that Saturday is RPG day, so I won't be able to attend. I'm definitely interested in future events though.

I'll be the one there introducing myself as Aard. On account of that's me name.

Not terribly original, I.

Well, we could paint our names on our foreheads.  And as for th Kool-Aid, well Pat used to allow adult beverages in his store but as usual it only took one guy to ruin it for the rest of us.  He does have sodas available for a nominal fee, and D'Angelos is right next door so drinks and food are available.

Also I posted the Paint Day to the store FB page so we may see more new faces.  If we have enough locals we can turn this ino a semi-regular event.  Or if there are just a few local, we can have future events at my place where adult beverages are allowed (assuming yo are of age of course).  Either way I'm looking forward to having a good time.

So, what's everyone going to bring to work on?

I honestly have no idea ATM, I'm hoping for inspiration to strike....

ETA: not mini related, but inspiration just struck---someone (or multiple someone's) should make sure to bring a camera to get some piccies of the event.

After a poll this seems to be the best place to put this thread. For the most part I'll stick photos under spoilers because my phone likes to make them large.

So I bought a sketchbook today with the intent to catalog and show off all of my paints. I thought it was quite the appropriate book to get.

First I made a grid on a page. Then added the title to each column: Name & SKU, None, Base, Wash, Brown Liner, Blue Liner.

That's as far as I've gotten. Next I plan on starting to fill out paint names and SKU's. Then I will prime the squares with some plain white brush on primer (Vallejo in this case). I'm really hoping that the paper is thick enough to avoid the water from just being absorbed. If it isn't I will go to the craft store and buy a better book with different paper and can use this for something else later.

Each column is a different thickness of paint/what I'll be putting it over. So None is straight out of the bottle, Base is thinned enough for a base coat, Wash is thinned down to a wash consistency, and Brown and Blue Liner will have each of them put over the primer and then a base consistency paint over that.

I'm going to spend some time filling out the names and SKU's and then I'll get to priming the squares. Might go back and go over the lines with a sharpie or pen to make them a little more apparent where the lines are for my sake.

ETA: I already have a spreadsheet of all of the paints I own and then sub-sheets broken down by line/company. I think there is a way to put color samples into the sheet but I've yet to figure it out. So I'm making this so I don't have to pull out all of my paints when I need to color scheme something. I can just pull out the book and go from there. It'll be much more efficient for me.

I have been painting minis for a few years now and my paint collection has evolved quite a bit. I started with a few bottles of Tamiya paints

Then I went into a KS called Paintdecor and got a goodly collection there, plus a few Vallejo paints as they are available retail here in Nagoya Japan, whereas Reaper is not. Got a couple Dwarvenforge paints around the same time also.

Then I started to get more into Reaper, with a lot of buying, including a learn to paint kit and my collection expanded

And just today I got a couple nice Vallejo paint racks so it looks a lot more organized

I also have one of almost all the Dwarven Forge paints but not a good pic of them right now. They are off to the left in the third pic.

And in a few weeks, I'll be getting another 35ish reaper paints I bought last year including the holiday bundle.

I will update with a pic of those when they arrive.

I know it is not a huge collection, but compared to its beginnings, it is a whole lot better.

      Whatta ya got?

I'm wondering what people use to reproduce natural or light varnished oak and pine wood. Darker woods and weathered wood aren't too difficult with Reaper's paint selection, but I can't seem to find the right combo to get anything close to natural oak or pine - either the "neutral" light wood color of oak or the yellower tones of pine and varnished oak.

Hi, i have many Reaper Colours in triads, but i dont know if maybe the store that sold them to me some years ago had an old batch or else, as i see that some of the colors are not as shown in the reaper site. So wanted to ask anybody that has the "undead skin tones" and "vampiric skintones" , if you have any pics that show the true colour of the "moldy skin", "bloodless skin", "ghoul skin", "vampiric skin", "vampiric highlight" and "vampiric shadow", as i want to compare and determine if maybe my colors are wrong or something :( and see what i need to add to them to make them be as intended :)  Thanks for the help !

My challenge is to finish the blue bin in the coming two weeks:

There's some extra random stuff I might get to. I'm also starting with Mrs Claus and the cat dragon.

And if that's not enough, one of my KS projects fulfilled:
