I once saw a middle school student of mine trade a half eaten peanut butter sandwich (with a bite taken out of the remaining half) for a $5 iTunes gift card...

A bit late, but loot was pillaged on Friday:

20170617_202654.thumb.jpg.8f638c325ef0ac8b19fb934801b68851.jpg

Friend's store had switched over to Warpaints, and I had to get more to test out the washes and the Effects to compare them with the Citadel equivalents. Also got the shinies because the ghost of @OneBoot made me.

-Shining Silver

-Gun Metal

-Warlock Purple

-Disgusting Slime

-Wet Mud

-Blue Tone

-Purple Tone

-Military Shader (appears that I accidentally picked up a second one instead of Green Tone, they have similar labels)

Then off to the other game store for Citadel paints:

20170617_203336.thumb.jpg.824c1896f08a6e3f18802aea5fdbe5ee.jpg

-Rhinox Hide

-Flayed One Flesh

-Ceramite White

-Blue Horror

-Kabalite Green (duplicate)

-Hoeth Blue

-Brass Scorpion

-Calgar Blue

-Sycorax Bronze

-Dorn Yellow

-Slaanesh Grey

-Balthasar Gold

-Sybarite Green

-Altdorf Guard Blue

Gauss Blaster Green

And I headed to the hobby store, had to pick up something to support them, so I got Vallejo Model Air Green Zinc Chrom.

Also stopped at the local thrift store, these actually showed up:

I thought my day was over, but when i got home I checked my mail and found these:

These are the clay shapers I had ordered a few months ago, they were supposed to have arrived between April15 to May 2. When they didn't show up, the ones selling them immediately offered a refund, which I got. They might be late, but at least they were free in the end.

If you got a refund for them and they show up now, you really should offer to pay for them.

Carma and all that.

Acquired for my husband as Father's Day gifts:

"Complicated Board Game: The Card Game" (which amused him highly although he immediately saw ways to improve it -- game designer mindset, I guess. ::P: )

And this (MANY thanks to David Brawley for the general recommendation and Baldur8762 for the signal boost!):

What-We-Do-in-the-Shadows.jpg

This is an award-winning New Zealand film, a mockumentary about vampires living in present-day New Zealand.  The reviews, which have been very good, have described it as like White Wolf's World of Darkness filtered through "The Young Ones" and given the "Spinal Tap" treatment.

Those are all things my husband is entertained by, so it seemed a good possibility.

Anyhow, PingosHusband was surprised (we don't usually do gifts on Father's Day) and pleased, so yay for a bit of good cheer.

So Berni comes in with a box. Hands it to me. Smiles.

I open it. It's an art book... Tony DiTerlizzi's Realms, a sort of career retrospective with focus on his gaming art, like for Planescape and Magic: The Gathering, and including the minis from Darksword.

"The hell?" I said. "Not that I'm not grateful, but what's the occasion? And how'd you know?"

She grins. "Amazon dropped the price forty percent, and I noticed it was on your want list."

Man, I am NOT used to a spouse who pays attention to my weirder obsessions...

I have that book on my shelf.  It is a nice collection of his work.

Not yet (to my understanding - that's my KS4 pledge. It was relatively small (apparently), and so I went relatively last...

The store we went to for Free RPG Day had a bit of a vulture problem, so not much was acquired from the event.

I did, however, pick up the new 40k boxed set:

59491c5d1d746_darkimperium.jpg.f0a9a4790ad7817f51e962ab9b5ff0b3.jpg

We also got the Chaos index (seemed like a good idea for the new edition), "Betrayal at House on the Hill", a few random paints and such, and I finally picked up some of the new WizKids ready to paint minis.

We also got a new hobby room (WiP):

The only bonus to having a slipped disk is that I'm forced to do things on my phone, like taking pictures and trying to update threads :)  Here's the things that I got back in February in my trip to Japan.  The two small tubes are epoxy, feel free to ask about any of the other things.

Here is my first completed mini. In all fairness to the poor barbarian, he has been a guinea pig. I used him to get my act together regarding a few techniques for other projects. Today I decided to bring him to to completion. All in all I'm just fine with how he turned out. Feels good to call something done.
On another level, this little dude has sent me into a barbarian collecting frenzy. I have some cool figs waiting for paint now.

      This afternoon's experimenting.

I had originally intended to try and create a red-colored metallic by mixing or glazing, but had already laid a red basecoat and the technique I wanted to try started with a metallic basecoat, so I decided to just experiment with some other techniques I'd watched. I really admire some of the space marine/robot jobs folks do, but don't have any minis of that sort and thought some of what I'd seen would apply well to Ragnaros's really segmented-looking armor. I had a lot of fun with this guy, I might end up stripping him, or just buying a few more.

While I've been relatively inactive, my lovely wife has not.  She's been working on a selection of figures some of which in my admittedly biased opinion are much better than anything I've ever done >.>

      77265 - Drys, Dryad
I love this figure and the paint job is so subtle.  The shading on the greens is superb - unfortunately, I'll have to work out how to link the front again : ) EDIT - front of dryad:  https://goo.gl/photos/1FRcQ5ZqZoqGt3dCA

      77313 - Krug, Hill Giant
Yet again, some gorgeous shading on this figure.

      77314 - Golan, Hill Giant
This figure is very... uh, purple.  But I think it works well.  I might have to go over it and tidy up some of the tree branch club - the paint coverage isn't as good as it could be.  But still a lovely bit of work.

      89013 - Ezren, Iconic Wizard
She has this annoying tendancy to rattle off freehand that's better than my "paint by numbers" detail work, elf her eyes!  This one was a fairly fast paint, with not as much shading as she's done elsewhere.

      89014 - Seltyiel, Iconic Magus
She refers to this one as her "Michael Jackson" figure, for obvious reasons : )

This little fella came out alright I think. My first successful attempt at painting human eyes at this scale.
