Zink
Now I really want to watch House and House 2. I haven't seen them in years.
aku-chan
Re-watched Screamers. It's been years and older, wiser me now realises practically nothing in the film makes sense. Was still oddly entertaining though.
Mckenna35
Saw "Blazing Saddles" in the theater followed by a discussion with Mel Brooks. One of those movies that is still funny, but there's pretty much zero chance it would get made in this day and age. Fun facts: Mel's original choice to play the Cisco Kid (Gene Wilder's character) was John Wayne! He read the script, loved it, and said his fans would revolt if he made it! Also, Gene Wilder pitched the concept of "Young Frankenstein" to Mel Brooks while they were making "Blazing Saddles".
TheAuldGrump
Lords and ladies, I had forgotten how bad Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters is... Julie's necromancer and Megan's urban witch kept snarking about how the witches were acting - Megan went with her Crimson Throne character instead of her sea witch. A lot of fun. Tonight is Van Helsing. The Auld Grump

KruleBear
The 5yo got hooked on the Jumanji 2 trailer so I picked up the 2 movie disk set. Was plesantly surprised. A very fun movie. I laughed so hard a few times. And thank goodness some of the crude references went over my sons head. Not always a fan of Jack Black, but he and Kevin Hart were hilarious in this. Now we are watching the other movie in the set...the original Jumanji. The little man seems to be enjoying it (yeaaaaa, two movies that didn't have to be cartoons!)

Crowley
Caught a bunch of movies over the last couple of days Bruce Almighty - Not a Jim Carrey fan, but I remembered enjoying this when I first watched it years ago. I... liked it less. A Wrinkle In Time - So pretty! Need to reread the book. I know that some things were changed, but I don't remember exactly what... Avengers: Infinity War - This really was Thanos' movie. He absolutely was an anti-hero protagonist. I'm looking forward to the next Avengers... The Equalizer - Denzel Washington did a solid job on this vengeance/violence porn ex-CIA kicking the russian mobsters around. It wasn't anything special. 3

If you're in to dark (perhaps extremely dark) comedies then I highly recommend it. It is not for the faint of heart. But it is a good low budget movie that surprised me. Agreed, it's super dark but awesome. I know someone who got a bit of a shock watching it, mostly due to the fact that they chose it because "It had that nice Ryan Reynolds guy in it" On 10/12/2018 at 10:11 PM, NecroMancer said: I watch Monster Squad every once in awhile with my kids and I think it holds up fairly well. Maybe that's just me If you are looking for a fun but bad monster movie I would suggest House. Although I feel it is a bit self aware so I don't know if that would take away from the fun of MST3King it but it is a fun movie. TheAuldGrump
I ordered Pirates in an Adventure With Some Scientists, for Brigid. Megan seems to doubt my excellent excuse. (Hey! Her middle name is Danger - Piracy should be among the career paths available!) The Auld Grump - it had me at Aardman.
redambrosia
Hubby and I watched Venom on Saturday. It was really enjoyable. Venom (the character) was hilarious, and the interaction between the two was just fantastic.
redambrosia
Just watched Comedy of Terrors, with Vincent Price and Peter Lorre. It was fricken hilarious! Everyone should watch it!
Inarah
Just back from First Man. I enjoyed it, with caveats. It is a close personal and emotional movie about Neil Armstrong and his early years in the space program, leading up to his landing on the moon. The pacing is, at times, very slow. On the positive side the special effects and flight sequences are AMAZING. Go see it in IMAX and if you can find a theater with butt shakers in the seats. On the negative side large portions of the film are done 'shaky cam' style and I had a headache within minutes. I'd also issue a seizure alert for folks who might be triggered by flashing lights or dizzy spinning scenes. On the other hand, husband felt the film lacked plot and that the characterizations were shallow. Said he didn't get a feel for what motivated the man, or his fellow astronauts. 3
starwarsgeek
My wife and i are big movie buffs and we're always watching movies, mostly horror - but of course at this time of year we seem to ramp it up even more. So far this month, we've watched (in no particular order): Ghost Ship Shaun of the Dead The Void The Ritual Zombi Nightmare on Elm Street The Fog The Exorcist Suspiria The Beyond City of the Living Dead Dog Soldiers Dawn of the Dead Monster Squad And we have these on tap for the remainder of this month: Halloween I, II and III (usually on 10/31) American Werewolf in London Friday the 13th 1 - 2- 3 The Thing The Omen 1 - 2 - 3 Demons 1 - 2 Night of the Demons Night of the Comet Day of the Dead Prom Night Sleepaway Camp plus whatever else we can squeeze in lol
TheAuldGrump
Thinking we may add Dark Angel Ascent to the list - an odd movie, about a demon that escapes from Hell. She's the hero. (Or, at worst, anti-hero. Not the villain.) Problem is that will make me want to add Prophecy 1, 2, and 3 to the list as well.
