Getting To Know Each Other --- April 2015

442 posts in this topic

For April the Format will adjust a little: most questions will have a 48 hour span although this will not apply to question 1.

New Experimental Rules

1. Every two days, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
2. You each have a 48 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
3. After I post the next question, you may no longer answer a previous question.
4. Only I may post questions, but you may (and are encouraged to) submit questions to be posted by me via PM.
5. You do not have to answer a question, obviously, even if you are playing the game. Either simply wait for the next question or post that you decline to answer (why would be nice).

6. Questions might run 1 to 3 days.

First Question for April...

1. What do you make of Games Workshop shutting down and annihilating its Fantasy Battles version of Warhammer?!?

Note that this question is not knowingly false or inaccurate and is presented in the spirit of the day and answers should refrain from defaming, slamming, or being mean to other fine gaming companies sometimes known by the initials EE, which must surely stand for Excellent Enterprise.

...up, doc?

Up is a relevant concept. It has no intrinsic value.

1.  I don't make anything of it.  Never played WFB.  Does this mean that some of the fantasy figures will be on a clearance sale?  If so then , yea?

I make a shrug and carry on because I don't think I have ever even purchased a Games Workshop item.

Oh, no wait, I did buy a LOTR miniature once.

I really don't care other than that maybe more people will walk away from GW, bringing their hobby dollars to more deserving companies; companies that actually care about their customers, retailers, and the hobby in general.

I gotta agree with TaleSpinner to some degree.

I used to play WFB a LOT!  Then after multiple new editions, obvious power-creep-to-sell-big-expensive-minis and making your favorite unit/character/elite obsolete I gave up.  My money now goes to Reaper and a small handful of other deserving companies.

I'm not surprised by GW discontinuing WFB (if that is true).  Their main thrust has been their futuristic setting for many years now.

I don't make anything of it. I don't "consume" their product in any meaningful way. I mean, I have a little bit of their stuff, but I don't go out of my way to buy their product.

I don't find this rumor any better or worse than the other rumors I have heard about 9th edition Fantasy Battle.

I haven't played any version in years, but they had a fun, solid rules set in 6th & 7th editions.

I hearby propose that we roll the rules back to that time period, and then mandate that the game henceforth be played entirely with Warlord minis! ^_^

      The Frequently Ignored "Rules"
      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 2AM and 9AM GMT (London time).
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions will take the form of  two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

1st Question will be posted in a bit (had to wait so it didn't merge posts) ...and this month only... we start on the 3rd.

      October 1st and 2nd's Question:
Suppose you are in a coffee shop hanging out with middle school version of you (or a clone with the stolen memories of yourself at that time, cast into the future to prevent a paradox).
If you were talking about who you were going to be as a person when you grew up versus who you are right now, how different is what you both want?

Edited for formatting. And the question has been updated. The niceties must be observed.
