Smarty Sean - RBG-0129

Recommended Posts

A wonderful friend gave me Smarty Sean; so I decided to paint him up.

He's been washed and glued to his base.

Next will be to prime, and brown line.

Have to true up his lance before the priming though !

He is part of a threesome group of brigands, that live in the forest !

Here are a couple of photo's before we are off to the races.

Oh, I attached a third photo showing the size of this  mini.

after I primed and washed him.

Yes, that's a US Quarter.

Oooo, Can't wait to see what you do with this one Mr. Jason.

I'm always down for a spear wielding hero! The spear is not utilized that much in Table top or Video games that well.

He's no hero! He's a swarthy brigand!  ::P:  ::D:

It's a shame, too. I guess not enough people appreciated Dragonslayer. I loved that spear.

Oh Yay! I love this guy, someday I'll get around to painting mine. I love tre's sculpts so much.

I am a big fan of Tre's Sculpts.

Love the challenge of these things.

They are tiny and chock full of surprises.

Hope I inspire you to get him painted !

Think I am going to go subtle on this one.

Browns, chocolate browns, golden browns, some greens.

play with my color wheel a bit.

This is the initial underlay coat that I have started.

I'm using Vellejo Cavalry brown, and some dark flesh, with a touch of

light on face.  I really enjoy this part of the mini-experience.

It is where I can play with color combo's, and get my brush control to keep the mini clean of

mistakes.  I don't like doing cleanups, and mopping up after myself.  I have found if you keep

mistakes, drips, and splatters at bay, the whole project works better !

(That's just how I try to do it, some people are really good at the chaos method also).

Here are some photos:

I Don't have much to go on with this dragon.  its another one that has been sitting half finished on my shelf forever.  the bottom has some script on the bottom that looks like FWS and an 8.  other than that I don't have any clue where it comes from.

but I finally dusted the mini off, freshened up the red (It was becoming a pink dragon) and decided to display it here.  hope everyone enjoys!

What else to finish off the month of January but another dragon from my shelf of shame?  This is Ollie.  Ollie is from Impact miniatures and is supposed to be a mascot for one of the bloodbowl teams.  Tom Acquired the license to produce him and I got a copy.  I used him to test a number of different red effects and styles while working on another, bigger dragon.  The skills may not have panned out like I wanted but Ollie still came out pretty well and deserved to be finished and shown off.  Pictures are still with a phone camera but at least I got to my light box!  So without further ado:

For those of you that know me, I cut my teeth on Tom Meier carvings, and I have made it a habit of painting anything that he has put
out that I can get my paws and brush on.  I was given Syrio Forel (DSM-5133) before my move.  I started painting him this week, along with
another two others Meier Sculpts.  I will mount him on a created base when I finish painting him.  Meier sculpts are ALWAYS a challenge.  They are
small and intricate, they also, at times, carry a surprise feature buried in a fold or underneath a caparison to paint.  So here is where I am on this miniature,
a day after I started work on it.  I do NOT use colors straight from a bottle, a color wheel is a close friend.  Jasonator.

It has been SO long since I actually posted anything in the Show Off Forum.
Since my move to Portland, Oregon, I have FINALLY gotten my apartment set up, with my painting table
in front of a window with direct sunlight.  So now that I got motivated, here is my first completed miniature
from Portland.  I was afraid I could NO longer do this..
      So here are four photos:
Please let me know what you think.

I bought this fig a long time ago, with a ton of ideas and options for what to do with him.  Although I'm definitely on Team Cap, I decided to go with an Iron Man look.  I was really happy with how he turned out, especially the sword and faceplate.  I'm considering going back and adding a little bit more gold in a few spots, especially in the back area, but for now I'm satisfied.  Critiques and advice are always welcome!  Thanks in advance!
