Resolutionary Painting Challenge, 1776 Edition

Recommended Posts

Technically a little late to launch, but better late than never!

Please see page 1 here for rules and guidelines/questions. This is also the chatter thread here:  The first post as linked will contain the updated totals and grand total pending and the plan is to start getting the graphics sent to all who have completed the months so far soon

a reminder when submitting to please adhere to the forum show off guidelines. This is a much bigger challenge than I expected and it makes life easier for the mods

Also, please only create a single index post for your links. This means to modify your existing post when you get a new figure finished instead of posting a new one.

This month's challenge is: 5.  ...because you have the 24 hour paint challenge this month too, it really should be doable.

Bonus Challenge is:

As might be expects this month. " 'Murica! " So keep off the serious topics, have fun. I'm sure most of us know the 'fat scooter guy' picture. But seriously, if you can top THIS you deserve a medal, or something...Medieval Captain America? IMEF Iron Patriot? The Redneck Games diorama? While it's entirely possible to do a serious theme, I want to see what bizarre light-hearted renditions are in y'alls heads. We got enough serious in the world as is.
Seriously, I'd love to see someone top that.

The deadline Is planned for August 1 Midnight, RST. (Reaper Standard Time).

4 for the exchanges, something new to try
12 for the monsters, who in the dungeons moan
7 for the competition, to please the judges eye
19 for the table top, which will set the tone
9 for the players, doomed to see their characters die
One for the master painter on his ergonomic throne
In the well lit studio where no shadows lie
one tag to hue them all, one tag to bind them
one tag to bring them all and in the forum find them.
In the well lit studio where no shadows lie

Uh oh. Looks like I might need to do more speedpaints this month. On the bright side I have lots of bones to help with that. The Exchange might do the trick but we'll see when it arrives at its intended destination...

2. 02188: Knight Templar

3. 02617: Female Wraith

4. 02148: Guardian Wraith

nothing says american like a bald monk with a wavy sword m'right?

*unless he was holding a hot dog instead*

I blame the sculptor for the long wavy cloth bits hanging like stripes from his belt.

He will work just fine as a consort to  the lady below.

Plus I will be able to show how much my painting has improved when painting people dressed in american flags!

This little guy is one of a set of three figures; I found him on the melt table at Reapercon and snagged him. I figured I could use him in Frostgrave, or as a familiar to some evil baddie in a RPG. Basic tabletop painting, I hope you like it.

I painted Ingrid over during the paint binge weekend this past Thanksgiving. She was sitting in a drawer primed and base coated for at least a few months, so I pulled her out and finished her up. I need to get more practice doing gems; that's supposed to be a ruby in her hand, not a freshly removed heart. Although I suppose it could be....
Please let me know what you think.

Another figure I primed and base coated some time ago that I decided to finally finish painting during the Thanksgiving paint binge.I tried to go for a subtle camouflage effect on her cloak by wet blending several different greens on it. She's done for tabletop, like most of what I paint. Please let me know what you think.

I started this guy last winter sometime so I figured it was time to finish him up. I used the Thanksgiving paint binge to accomplish this. I wanted to imply that he was made from slightly fresher parts, so I used several different flesh tones on him, then washed/drybrushed/weathered him to look a little grungy/rotten.
Painted for tabletop; let me know what you think.

This is a figure from (I believe) a C'thulu boardgame. A local book store/game store was having a mini painting event this past Halloween, and this is the figure. The first picture is what I accomplished in 2 hours at the store, while the last 2 are after spending another 30 minutes or so doing some touch ups at home.
Speed paint table top figure, i hope you like it.
