Wow! I could barely make a dragon's egg with greenstuff! The turkey looks great! Can't wait to see the slippers and turkey painted!

It was a real challenge, as ideally it should have been done in two steps; first form the body and let that harden, and then form the drumsticks and wings and apply them one at a time to the hardened carcass.  As it was, I did it all in one sitting so was constantly smashing one part as I tried to affix another! ::P:

Well, if you can make an egg, you're just about half way there; just smoosh the bottom of the egg flat, pinch the top a little and apply legs and wings! ::):  

I was able to prime the slippers yesterday evening, and then get a base pink coat on them this morning. So they should be done by this afternoon/evening.  It probably won't be warm enough to prime the turkey until at earliest midday, so painting will have to wait until tomorrow.

Finished up the last two Christmas Story treasure tokens today, just in time for tomorrows Frostgrave game. (Assuming we don't get snowed out!). 

 

Here are the bunny slippers and the turkey, which I just finished.  Happy to be one of the few (if not the only) to have used Reaper "Turkey Brown" holiday paint to have painted an actual turkey figure! ::P:

So, with the first game of our Ghost Archipelago campaign this Saturday, I've been busy making some Brambles spell effects for my Vine Warden.  

   I bought some 6" luffas off of eBay, and sliced them up to use the ribs as rows of bramble bushess.  A quick painting, and a smattering of flock, produced some pretty nifty bramble obstacles.

Like those brambles. I've done the pot scratcher hedges but never considered something with the big bubbles like that.

I'm running Ghost Archipelago at our club's regional convention this weekend (If you're in the Havre De Grace MD area, stop by and say HI! ::):), and needed to make some spell effects for some of the other Wardens I'll be using.

 

First up is Earthen Wall, which is a wall of dirt 3" long, 2" high, and 1" deep.  These were simply cut from pink insulation, and glued to 3"x1.5" steel bases.   Then I painted them with some brown craft paint mixed with sand to give it some texture.  I am working on drybrushing now, and then will flock.

I've also been working on Pool, which creates a 3" pool of deep water.   For these I cut down some CDs, and then glued 3" circles of heavy paper to them.  I then ran a line of Tacky glue around the border of the circles.  After that, I sprayed them flat black.  When the spray was dry, I painted some "water" onto the pool using various shades of blue-green paint, and painted the borders brown.  I then flocked the borders.  Finally I covered the painted circle with Woodland Scenics "Water Effects".  I just need to let that dry, and hopefully it will look like a pool of water.fullsizeoutput_2b17.jpeg

 If the woodland scenics doesn't work out as well as hoped, chris, you can always use liquitex gloss gel medium.  It makes things look real shiny and works really well to make them look wet.

Thanks for the tip, Darkmeer!  I had the Water Effects on hand, so that was my immediate choice.  And so far, they look like the parts that are dry look pretty good.  

I would imagine the Liquetex is a good  choice from a cost perspective as well.

I'm getting ready to do some DM's craft style sewers myself, and that + hot glue and a few other pieces of detritus and gloss over with the gel in a couple of thin layers.  It works really well for bases, and 75mm is really a "huge" base in D&D scale in my mind.

Here's the final results!  Finally got around to taking some pictures, though I used them in my games last weekend.

 

The Pit spell.  These are 1.5" washers with a ring of greenstuff around the edge.  I then sprayed them black and painted in brown tones:

The Earthen Wall spell.  These have a bit of shine to them, so I'll probably need to hit them with another coat of Dullcote when the weather warms up.

      Too Much Information
      I've recently been to the Doc and have been placed on a very strict diet and workout regimen (Working out isn't that strict, it's just 30min of light cardio daily).  But he told me not to do anything overly physical, which for a woodworker means I can't really work.  So, to save my heart and keep my business afloat, I've chosen a campaign that utilizes the laser for 80% of the work...with the remaining 20% being light physical duty.
      Due to the sheer weight of these items, I've worked to minimize the cost on materials and labor as much as possible.   The base set weighs almost 15lb and will ship in a 12x12x6 corrugated box.  Making each set is 8 hours of laser time and about 2 hours physical labor (Which is why I set the delivery date 2 months out instead of 1...but for you early backers, expect me to start shipping rewards within a week of the campaign ending.)  Mostly, I wanted to GUARANTEE delivery before Christmas.  By setting it to October, I will have plenty of time to handle anything that comes up. 
      The base set already includes the 4 most popular Expansions and will make an AWESOME Christmas Gift!  
      The floor pieces are designed so that you can expand into infinity to make those LARGE scale battle zones.  
      You'll choose either 1 or 2 inch per expansion. Each Wall Expansion is designed to be as versatile as your campaign!
