Chaos Wolf's Conversion Clinic (pic heavy) Open topic

Recommended Posts

I needed a snapping turtle for Ghost Archipelago, and the easiest way I thought of to get one was to convert a spare Spikeshell Warrior I had into one; changing him from a biped back into a quadruped.

First I removed his head and all his legs...

I then trimmed the pieces so they'd more realistically fit the new horizontal alignment of the shell, and glued them into place...

It's not perfect, but for a fantasy snapping turtle, I think it's pretty good.

So. Practicing some converting. Found the upper half of a violin skeleton in the melt bin. I have cut apart a bones skeleton with sword. Kept his bottom half and shaved the sword until it looked like a baton. I don't know how to shave it more without hurting myself. Not the first conversion since I played around in the bones class, but the first bones and metal combination mod. ^.^

Awesome !

Does it hold?

I mean, since it is the lower half that is Bones, can the legs support the metal body?

The skeleton stood and had little bending, but the superglue I used didn't hold and now he has fallen apart. I'll try some sort of putty eventually.

Maybe pin it?

My first attempt failed. I didn't cut the bones clean enough to allow a pin devise to drill properly. Thinking I add putty and let dry to build up a smoother surface before pinning.

If you've managed to at least pin the pewter part, perhaps you could use a heated pin or needle to burn/melt a pinning hole into the Bones pelvis?  (I'm just brainstorming here.  I don't honestly know how that'd work with whatever surface area you have available.)

If there's anything left, send it back to me, and it'll get put into the next (regular version) BoGW that happens.

There are enough items included for everyone to make four (4) picks. After you've grabbed some stuff, seal it back up and send it the next person. This is all based on the generosity of people at Reapercon, so there's no need to put anything back in; this is a straight up gift.
There are 2 pairs of sunglasses in there; they don't have anything to do with Reaper/Reapercon other than that they were in the swag bag, and (I'm guessing) donated by the city of Denton. If you want a pair take 'em, they don't have to count as one of your 4 items, unless your conscience dictates otherwise.
If you want to help out with international shipping fees (and no one is under any obligation to do so) contact Strawhat, GlitterWolf, or RobinH to work something out.

A big THANK YOU!! to everyone who donated stuff for this to happen.

For the converters, a demonstration of making an extremely sharp knife (for use by a lego person) from an oyster shell. This guy makes knives out of everything, including tomatoes. Yes, tomatoes. This one just happens to be minis-sized.

Good day everyone, this was my entry in Reaper's Facebook Paint Your Giant contest. 77178, Fire Giant Warrior, Dark Heaven Bones model sculpted by Jason Wiebe. It is mounted on a 74027, Ruins Vignette Base, a resin base sculpted by Patrick Keith. This model is huge, 7cm high and 13cm wide with the sword. I did some minor conversion on it.   A heavy thundering sound come crushing down the ruined hall. You see orange and red lights dancing between the pillar supporting the stone roof. In the glimpse of a moment, all hell break loose as a dark skin colossus burst from the rubbles wielding a towering incandescent blade. He lands next to you smashing the large tiles of the floor. You are paralyzed in fear as he turns gazing in your direction with fire in his eyes. Desperate, you wonder if you've gone too far exploring this ancient Undermountain realm.
