Prof. Froschmeister Chronoscope 50061

Recommended Posts

So, got eliminated from Wyrd's Iron Painter contest, but I still got the iron ;) so I'm doing submissions just for fun. Since the theme for round 3 is "Wyrd Science", I almost immediately thought of this guy, whom I absolutely love! I've been dying to paint him so he was a pretty obvious pick.

Awesome job. I love how you picked out the vein on his head.

hehe thanks :D I actually learned to do that doing my hellpit abomination - someone versed in colour theory can prolly explain why it works (I have no idea, I just do stuffs) but apparently after doing flesh, purple makes a good wash to help it look... well, whatever you call it.

Anyway, he was a blast to paint tbh - I did do like two things new - actually used a glaze on his beaker to try to blend the greens (I say that like it was one coat, it was 6 with time to dry in between ha). And the other thing was something I'd heard about but not actually done. That is, making a glaze kinda of a paint. I used Reapers HD Causcasian flesh (sp?) and GW's lahmian (again sp?) medium, to try to bring the layers on his face more together as well as really make him look unhealthily pale as all good mad scientists. Even though there is a lot more pigment in the HD paint, I think it still worked pretty good. I did loose some of the details I think, but overall it was a success and at least I didn't completely mess him up so I'm happy :D

An excellent mad scientist!  PC or Villain?

I'll be running him as an NPC actually so .. won't say Villain.. but... ;) ;) ;)

Although now that I think of it he'd be a good stand in as well for my call of Cthulhu character!

(Also I absolutely love that reaper's autocorrect/spell check knows how to spell Cthulhu ;)

You know, if it wasn't for the glasses, I would think of the pint sized mad scientist from Bugs Bunny.....

I finished her. It's finished but not perfect. I could have messed around with things even further and cleaned her up a bit more. I really probably could have left her sitting for weeks trying to figure out what else to do which is when I decided it's done.
Pretty happy with the eyes on this one. Also, the chaps were the first time I'd attempted to do distressed leather which I think look pretty good for a first attempt. Probably could have gotten clearer pictures but didn't want to fight with the phone any longer.
      ETA: C&C welcome.

So anyone have any recommendations for minis to represent the A-Team?

So Saturday  (yesterday) morning I finished painting Action Jackson. https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/action/latest/80023 Which is a mini I've been wanting to paint for awhile. It just so happens that Saturday afternoon is when my D&D Adventure League group meets, so before I left I packed up my finished mini to show off and get a few tips from the group's other painters. For the record it was dry before I packed it up.
For the last few weeks I've been running our third table; I'm currently doing Horde of the Dragon Queen. During the session the cleric at my table conjured a spiritual weapon. Like a lot of my players he's fairly new so he hasn't bought any minis yet for his PC's so he didn't have anything to represent his conjured weapon either. So when he conjured his spiritual weapon I placed Action Jackson on the field which my players loved.
Turns out his spiritual weapon was one of the party's heavy hitters. Which made the figure all the more fun to have on the field.
I know I can't be the only one who paints something and thinks they'll never get to use it and is proven wrong. Has anyone else been able to use Chronoscope miniatures in and odd or mismatched RPG setting? Though I love this miniature it certainly doesn't belong in a 5e game, but I'm glad I could use him to comedic effect.

This one I painted a few years ago.
I'm pretty happy with the stones on the base.
I wouldn't trust her when I got sick though.
