Yup!

I got the Actec, Greek and Egyptian one and a Plain one for flattening.

Superb stuff.

Make sure you use them when the putty/ greenstuff or clay you're using is already a bit hardened.

If you do it too soon you will roll the putty off the bases and on your pin..

If you're too late you won't make an impression.

I'll admit, once I found them it didn't take long to get most of those rollers onto my wishlist....  Wishlist now includes both 6 packs (because even though it's doubled up on the plain ones it's still cheaper than buying just four of them individually), then quite possibly Dutch Bricks, Egyptian, Temple, Aztec, and Mesh.  Sure it's a bit spendy to get almost all of them, but there would be a LOT more variety in each base compared to buying pre-fabricated bases, and I'm nuts (aka with all the various projects I have I figure I might as well get them all, then mix and match as I go)

Many thanks for the additional tips on usage of the rollers too ^_^

Those are some rather lovely army lists too, and will be quite the collection!

Greenstuffworld also has some instruction videos on their site.

As for being nuts...ONE OF US!!!!

The collection will grow.

And I might try to include the rest of my collection into the project somehow, or start another....

I might have forgotten to include some stuff, will edit when I notice this.

Also I'm open to ideas.

This is a fun / display project.

No gaming involved so I'm free to do whatever I want.

I will try to create armies and terrain, fitting with the stories I made up.

Any good suggestions for miniatures/terrain etc will be considered and used or not, as I see fit.

NEEDED

  • a suitable mini to represent Neith. I hope to one day re-acquire Lilith from Ilyad Games...if not I need another Spider Queen, Shaerilith I have but I found her lacking.
  • A suitable mini to represent the Frogking
  • More Conquistadores and pirates
  • A Pirateship
  • Undead Aztecs/Mayan/Incas
  • More Mesoamericans
  • a feathered Serpent / Quetzacoatl ( a big one)
  • Someone to represent Escolano the Grand Inquisitor
  • Feathered Dinosaurs
  • Pteronadon

All of these preferably not too much toy like.. I prefer good quality miniatures.

And I prefer an European source, US/Canadian Shipping + Taxes/Customs is a pain.

Well, it's also "going nuts" on picking up most of a set simply because I suspect shipping the items halfway around the world is cheaper if it's all in one box - no having to pay shipping a second time if one gets the 17 or so rollers they want all together ^_^

I'm also a delivery driver, so while I won't pass the entrance exams, being somewhat crazy is par for the course :P

I will playfully use you as the scapegoat for why I'm picking them up, just like I namedropped you for the Rainbow Dragon challenge, as yours was the first thread I read on it that made me go "this sounds like a lot of fun!"

I definitely hear you on not being attached to a gaming system being nice and liberating, because there's none of those restrictions game systems tend to have!

Some story till I can paint again..

********************

Negotiations, Precautions and Promises.

The Expedition leaders had withdrawn in a hastily erected tent.

A soldier filled their mugs with wine.

Get out! Alvarez told him.

He looked at the others.

So! We have a situation!

The Reptilians have captured Rosetta Salazar, the Vizconde's daughter and want us to retreat in return for her wellbeing

Your thoughts?

Captain Tomas de Torquemada spoke first.

As I mentioned I was sent here by the Vizconde himself to retrieve his daughter.

The treasure was a secondary objective to me.

I swore an oath to get her back alive and well!

We can't leave her in the claws of these beasts!

Grand Inquisitor Luis Mercador Escolano agreed with him.

The girl first then the treasure!

And we should convert those savage humans!

When they learn of the Light of the Lord they will surely rebel against their monstrous leaders!

Gonzales drank his wine, slammed the mug on the table and spoke.

I have a pact with the Vizconde to retrieve the treasure!

That is MY main task!

The stupid girl insisted to come with and got herself captured.

Now as I said, we might be able to negotiate terms, I'm willing to try to save her, but I will NOT abandon the treasure!

Alvarez nodded.

Having heard all of you, I must point out that the men will not be happy if we retreat and forgo the treasure.

We are obliged to save the girl though or at least attempt it.

If we attack she will be killed, if we agree to their terms we will have no treasure and she will be left behind.

So? Suggestions?

Gonzales hesitated, then spoke.

Maybe we could reason with the enemy.

We have seen them fight against that Insect Army before.

So we know they are at least at war with one other leader.

Maybe we can strike a deal, perform a task for them, get paid, get Rosetta back.

Then secure the treasure and Rosetta on the Mule and come back and take the City anyway!

Alvarez nodded, an honourless proposal as expected from you, but nonetheless useful!

It might be a way out of this impasse.

Tomas agreed, but the Inquisitor was angry.

Do these beasts bidding?

They're abominations!

And that's why we will betray them anyway, Gonzales said.

Tomas laid his hand on Escolano's shoulder, he is right, this might be the only way to rescue the girl and still get the gold!

We will come back later and finish them off anyway!

Escolano shook his head, but he knew he had to agree to it.

Fine! Alvarez said.

We will negotiate then!

Who will adress the enemy?

They all turned to Gonzales.

Allright allright, Rodrigo Gonzales said.

But I'd like to take the Captain with me.

Tomas agreed.

And so Tomas and Gonzales took a small group of soldiers with them, bearing a white flag they walked towards the Citadel.

let's hope these creatures understand what a white flag means, Tomas said.

When they left the camp, Alvarez summoned an Officer.

Lieutenant Cordoba listened to his Colonel.

Cordoba, you will take a group of a hundred fine men, soldiers and sailors and you will head back to our ships!

Sir?

You will take command of the Barracuda, together with the men left behind on the ships you will do as follow.

First, you will salvage the Flying Kraken.

You will sail both the Barracuda and the Jan Jose with the Kraken in tow!

Yes Sir! Whereto?

You will sail to these coordinates where the Mule and the Swordfish are anchored!

I want our ships to rejoin the others.

You will choose reliable men who will be willing to wait for us!

I do not trust that Buccaneer, the fleet needs to be together when we capture the treasure!

Yes Sir!

May I ask why we need to salvage the Kraken?

Alvarez sighed, we were fools to sink her!

It's a big prize! Luckily the lagoon is shallow, you can do it!

You will have time, we will be here for a while.

Yes Colonel! Cordoba said, and turned around.

Alvarez grabbed his shoulder, one more thing!

Not a word to anyone else!

You will gather your men and leave immediately without telling them about the mission.

Only when you get there you will inform them!

Yes Sir!

Gonzales and Tomas approached the Citadel, a guard frantically waved the white flag.

Cantor looked down from the ramparts. What do you think those Paleskins want?

They're waving the white flag, Bonita said, that means they want to talk.

The Transmuthor's tentacles wriggled from joy, good! They might surrender!

Cantor shook his head, I doubt it.

But let's hear them out!

OPEN THE GATES!!!

The bridge was lowered, the gates were opened.

A group of heavily armed Lizardmen formed two rows on the bridge to flank the visitors.

Gonzales nodded, they want to make sure we don't charge in!

A huge monster appeared at the gates, the Ancient One was terrifying to behold.

It's horned head lowered it roared.

Cantor shouted and waved at them, come on!

What are you waiting for?

We swear you will be safe till the negotiations are over!

Reluctantly Gonzales and Tomas started walking to the bridge.

When they passed the Lizardmen fell in line behind them.

The monster at the gate stepped aside snorting and scraping it's claws at the ground.

When they went in the gates closed behind them, the bridge was pulled up.

That's it Tomas said, we are at their mercy now!

Gonzales nodded, before him stood the Tortoise Leader, next to him a Snakeman and a demonic creature with a tentacled face.

Rosetta stood behind them, she was held by a giant monster, half woman, half snake.

Gonzales looked at her. Bonita? he asked, is that you?

What happened to you? Why are you on their side?

Long story, Bonita smiled.

Come on Paleskins! Sssllthr said, to the King!!!

More Inspiration.

If I can get my hand on enough suitable models, the Rebels might get some more Allies.

That's a massive list. I'm rooting for the froghemoth.^_^

Gale Force 9 has a Lolth figure, but the base is only 75 mm. Your idea of putting a giant torso on a giant spider might be better.

It is a beautiful mini.

I still hope to acquire Lilith from Ilyad one day again, but she is rare.

Stupid me sold her decades ago...sigh...

If not this might be a cool mini, but like you said, I'm thinking about a giantess body on a giant spider.

There is time though, it's not like I don't have anything to paint.<_<

Eureka are also the Folks who made the War Tortoise & the Frog Cavalry; SO their stuff will match what you have.

The fact that historical minis are less expensive than fantasy is a plus...or would that be a minus.

The Pond Wars range!

I just put it out here as a reminder to myself.

First I do need to paint a lot. The backlog is big enough as is.

But I know I will expand the armies in the future and taking notes where to get stuff is pretty useful.

I also keep an eye out for the Creative Beast Model kits..

Large feathered dino kits will be available soon..

This life is too short, the storage space is too small, the money is not enough to buy and paint all I like.

But I'm enjoying myself painting what I can and drooling over what I like.

This hobby is a lot of fun.

Of course I might have been better off, if I left the Undead and the Insects out of it..

But hey...I like them!

The more I paint, the more ideas I have...

I'm doomed

....I need another seventy years to finish everything I have; AND YET I keep buying things to add to what is already too much to fit in my remaining time.

I figure I would have just enough room if only I could convince Cap'n John to relocate to a cozy aircraft hangar...one set up for Airbuses or such.

Being creative is being alive. I view it as my connection to The Ultimate Creator. It is making a joyful sound. It is my joy.

Old men drool anyway; SO it is, at least, an acceptable excuse.

@malefactus both your work and your attitude towards life and the hobby are an inspiration to me.

Keep having fun with!

Almost Weekend, almost painting time.

For now a little story again.

************************

Decisions, Decisions.

On Turtle Island the Vizconde sat in his salon, drinking wine, thinking.

He hadn't heard anything from the expedition for months now.

Even worse, he hadn't heard from the Barracuda either.

Was his daughter safe? Did they find the treasure?

What was going on?

He knew such travels took long, he knew sending a pigeon or even relay messages would be difficult and patience was in order in such endeavours.

However, his daughter had fallen in love with a pirate and if word got out, this could ruin his reputation.

The Crown could even revoke his position.

He took another sip of his wine, looked out of the window at the clear blue sky.

At least trade was going well, there was no shortage of money or goods.

Yesterday some families had asked him when their men would return.

He had no real answer and replied with some vague words, all was well, the expedition would take long but it was all going as planned.

How long before people got restless?

The citizens didn't know about the purpose of the expedition, they just assumed the ships were looking for a new trade route.

For now all was reasonably quiet, but he needed to be careful, the last thing he needed was for the citizens to become angry.

And then there was the matter of the scientist Andres Segovia.

He had studied the skull Captain Gonzales had brought back.

It seemed to belong to an extinct species and yet Gonzales claimed to have killed the beast himself.

News of the discovery was sent to the Crown, it would surely help to raise his prestige.

But now Andres wanted to form yet another expedition.

The Viczonde sighed, another expedition would be very expensive.

And sending out more men would mean more families seeing their men leave.

This was not the time for such a thing.

On the other hand, new discoveries made in his name could mean a better chance for promotion.

He didn't want to stay on Turtle Island his whole life.

What to do?

This will be yet another Undead /Demon Army.
( what can I say? I love evil miniatures).

This army has an Asian theme.
      Undead Samurai
      Oni
      Asian Dragons
      Some living Asian Allies.
      Kirin

      Hope you will enjoy  it.

I will paint slowly and it may take a while, but I'm putting this out here to start.
Since I backed Zentih's Kensei Undead KS I have a few of the Undead Samurai and Demons waiting
I also have the Grenadier Wind Dragon ( alas without the two humans) and the Grenadier Imperial Dragon of the Eleven Celestial Dynasties
      And some Living Samurai.
Also a nice Asian Graveyard Set.

Some stuff that has to get painted soon..

One of my favorite Fantasy races are the Undead, followed by Chaos and Reptilians.
I already have my Lost World Project which tells a tale of Conquistadores, Reptilians, Dinosaurs, Undead and a lot more.
However those Undead are the Egyptian Style and Pirate/Jungle style.

This thread will be filled with my beloved Gothic Undead, Demons, Monsters and all things that go bump in the night.
In my Lost World Project I tell an ongoing story, here I will post about all other dark things without coherency.
There might be snippets of loose stories to accompany a mini or not...

I hope you guys and gals and creatures will like it.

Let's kick off with the critters I painted a while ago to get a feel of what is coming.

      Enjoy! ( or not)

Bats and a Murder of Crows

EDIT: I will include some Bones and minis. The bulk will be metal and I want to give this an oldschool vibe.
Preferred minis will be, Reaper, Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm, Metal Magic, Otherworld and Early Citadel.
The Asian Undead will be from Zenith since I backed the Kensei Undead Samurai KS and will get their own thread.

      Eldessa Necromancer

      Ral Partha Female Vampire

      Lurien and Aysa

      Bat Demon
