The Beasty has tremendous potential. GREAT WORK!

Thx Al!

Talespinner gave me some pointers in my "Welcome to the Jungle "thread.

I hope I can pull it off.

The Triceratops might need an extra little layer of putty here and there.

Hoping I can sculpt believable feathers on the pack.

I got paperwrapped wire.

200mm 10m.

I think I can use this for thick vines and treetrunks

...actually the stuff I use isn't wrapped in paper. It is raffia, a fiber made from the fronds of the raffia palm. They make rope out of it also. It is really tough stuff.

Couldn't find anything with raffia here.

But this looks kinda sturdy, I can bend it like a steel wire.

I have been working on sanding the wings as per Talespinner's instructions ( I hope)

And applied Vallejo Heavy Grey to the river

Storytime

*************

Between hope and fear.

Rosetta looked out of her small barred window.

From her cell she could see the large square where people and reptiles usually held their markets and festivities.

She noticed an unusual commotion.

Reptilian warriors were all over the place.

It seemed the civilians had to stay home for some reason.

Could it have anything to do with the thunderstorm she heard?

She saw a large lizardman shouting orders to a group of smaller ones.

Suddenly she got it, that was no thunderstorm! That was the sound of cannons!

The army was here!

For a moment she rejoiced, hoping for her rescue.

Then she remembered that the Frogking had threatened to sacrifice her if the army would attack.

She feared that they would come for her.

Looking out of her window again she realised they were all too occupied to even think about her.

Could she get out?

She looked at the bars set in stone that prevented her from climbing through the window.

Even if she could, she would end up right in the middle of the city.

Inspecting the other walls of her cell made it clear, there was no way out!

She would have to wait until the army would rescue her or the Frogking would send for her execution.

A small knock on the door.

She stepped back in terror, but fortunately it was just a guard to bring her food.

Normally it would have been a reptilian guard, but this time it was a young native warrior.

Probably due to the fighting they had given him this task.

The young man stepped into the cell holding a small basket with some bread and fish.

He looked at Rosetta and handed her the basket, keeping an eye on her movements.

She accepted the basket and gave him her loveliest smile.

A bit startled he smiled faintly.

He stepped backwards to the door to leave.

Wait! Rosetta said.

The young warrior tilted his head and looked at her.

Wait, I would like to talk to you for a while, I'm so lonely and you're the first human I have seen since I was taken prisoner.

I don't even know what I have done wrong she pouted.

The young man looked over his shoulder to see if there was an officer who could reprimand him for talking to the prisoner.

He turned to Rosetta again, I don't know, he stumbled, I'm not supposed to talk to you.

Rosetta started to cry, the young man didn't know what to do and stepped a little closer to her.

It is no use to cry, he said.

I can't help you.

Really? Rosetta asked him, she stepped even closer, she looked him in his eyes, touched his shoulder, are you sure you can't help me?

The young warrior looked into her eyes, she pouted her lips as if she wanted to kiss him, he leaned forward a bit and then suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his stomach.

He looked at her in disbelief, Rosetta had grabbed his knife and had plunged it into his belly.

She wasn't the Vizconde's daughter and a pirate's lover for nothing!

She twisted the knife once more, sshhhsss! She whispered, it will be over soon.

The young warrior sank to his knees from the pain, Rosetta withdrew the knife and slit his throat in one swift move.

Right! She was armed and the door was open!

Now what?

She looked at the dying warrior.

Maybe...she thought..

She started to undress him and changed her clothes for his.

Loosened her hair and put his headband around it.

Okay, she thought, now wait for the evening, when it is dark they might not see that I'm not one of them.

Taking some dirt from the floor she blackened her face and hands.

Hoping nobody else would come to investigate, she waited for the dark.

Closing the door just enough so it wouldn't fall into it's lock.

Waste not want not, she thought, and ate the bread and fish.

She looked at the dead body at her feet.

A shame, such a handsome boy!

But it was her only chance.

She could hear muskets and cannons fire in the distance.

From her window she saw some large Ancient Ones being herded to the gates.

A flying creature cried it's unnerving call.

Darkness fell, here goes nothing! She thought and slipped out of the door.

I just spent an enjoyable time getting caught up with current events; it's nice to see that you're still going strong here.

I've seen (most of) your figures in show off threads, so it's kinda cool to see the back story, so to speak.

Speaking of stories, yours is still very interesting, and just as filled with twists and turns as when you started.

Good stuff all around! :winkthumbs:

Thanks!

I was afraid it was getting tedious.

It's a longlasting project, maybe it never truly ends...

I need a little story to keep it going.

As long as we're all having fun I'll be happy with it.

Of course I had to start another project with Undead Samurai and Oni, because I had nothing to do...

Hi all, I thought you might like to see the Mordheim gang I just finished, particularly because it features a bunch of Reaper figures. It's hard to believe I started this over ten years ago. They sat around for years with a good portion done, and lately I've had my old projects in my sites and am finishing them off.

      Mordheim Undead Gang

I wrote about them and shared more pics in a blog post here: https://belchedfromthedepths.blogspot.com/2018/06/mordheim-undead-gang.html

More pics of the reaper ones:

      Reaper Matthias the Twisted, Vampire

I shared the vampire already here, so you may have seen him already. New backdrop with this pic for consistency.

      Reaper Gravedigger
Reaper humans are too tall, IMO, to mix in generally with Mordheim figures, but the vampire and gravedigger are conscious exceptions as they fit right in towering over their fellows.

There was no way I wasn't going to have this Reaper monkey in the crew. He's from a familiars pack.

      Reaper Ghouls and Ghast

      Reaper Hellhounds
Last up are these Reaper hellhounds, or dire wolves, in Mordheim game terms. I was and am thinking of them as black dogs of yore like the barghest rather than wolves.

I did these guys a few months ago.

I challenged myself when I painted these guys and avoided using washes. I'm very happy with the turnout.
I'd love to hear what you all think.

This is a little sideproject from my Lost World Project
      WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&

I think it deserves it's own WIP.
It will be covered in the Lost World as well, but there it will be interrupted by the other things I paint and build there.

With courtesy to @malefactus , @Peithetairosand @Chris Palmer for inspiring me with their awesome terrainbuilding.

It all started when I noticed my spare base from Kaladrax.
Kaladrax was put on a crypt as can be seen here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/77556-kaladrax-on-her-mausoleum-by-glitterwolf/

At first it was just an idea, putting some jungle stuff on that.
But then things kinda got out of hand a bit.

      And some fericious foam cutting

      Greetings!

I've been working on this scary Reaper DHL Lich for a week or so. There is a rich blue glowy effect on his eyes but it doesn't seem to have come out that clearly on these pics.

      Anyway, thanks for looking!
