Enjoy.

That spider is nightmare fuel. Which means it's just how spiders are supposed to be... can't wait to see how you paint the eyes :3

*Closes all windows just in case*

Thx, I will up the highlights on the green to a yellow.

There will be another colour above the orange bands. I'm leaing to black or purple.

The head will get another colour. I've not decided yet.

The eyes will then be contrasting with the head, trying make them look a bit like gems.

Those colours are fantastic, are they inspired by a real spider? (As an arachnophobic I try not to look at too many spider photos teehee!)

The Reaper Dark Elf Skin Highlight and sample paint layers *really* brought the spider to life for me as it reminds me of fine hairs some spiders have.  ::shudder:: very creepy, well done!

I need to do some touch ups, the eyes are not done yet and I need to do the fangs, mouth and pincers.

The base...

And I have a little extra touch I want to give her to make her really creepy...

More work after my vacation see you all in about 8 days..

For now I leave you with a few little stories.

*************

Rosetta and the Pirates.

James kept close to Rosetta, he still tried to protect her, she thought, a little late for that..

Rosetta glanced at Bonita, she was a giant now and half snake.

How did that happen?

She acted like she hated her, Rosetta wondered, could she still be angry from that one punch?

Come on! She sank my ship!

The Transmuthor led the way, they moved very fast through the jungle now.

Behind them the other mutants, if that's what they are, Rosetta thought.

Suddenly Old Ned grabbed his chest, and fell down.

His parrot screeched and flew away.

NEDD!!! James shouted and ran to his friend.

Bonita, grabbed him by his arm and lifted him up.

No time to waste! She said.

If he's dead, he's dead!

James struggled to no avail, Rosetta looked at Nedd, face down in the mud.

She cried as her captors pushed her forward.

MOVE!!! Bonita shouted.

James looked at Nedd once more, heart attack? A stroke?

He felt miserable to leave his old friend behind, but he had no choice.

The Transmuthor turned around, Hurry now! The King is waiting.

Too bad about your old friend, but at least now we can move faster!

Hurry hurry!!

A few moments later they were out of sight.

Old Nedd slowly lifted his head from the mud.

His parrot returned to him, Nedd's Dead! Nedd's Dead!!! it shouted.

Old Nedd petted the parrot, not yet, little friend, not yet.

But it is better that they think that!

Now, let's be quiet and follow them from a distance.

We'll figure something out!

*****************************************

SHE

She had found an oasis.

Water and trees.

A little rest wouldn't hurt, she thought.

She wondered if that little gerbil would ever return and if it would bring back more.

The insects and lower creatures had been easier to control, she thought.

Maybe she could find some of those soon.

But for now...what was keeping that little rodent?

A faint sound in the bushes, she turned around and there it was.

The little gerbil emerged from the bushes and looked at her.

She reached out with her mind to contact it, but this time it didn't react.

Surprised, she looked at the little rodent, it felt like there was a barrier between them, she couldn't reach it.

Yet, it had returned. Why?

Suddenly two bigger ceatures jumped from the bushes.

These looked like strange dogs, black with red eyes.

They reminded her a bit of her own realm.

She reached out again to try to contact these hellish looking dogs.

BACK OFF!!!

Grabbing her head, she stumbled backwards.

That hurt! Someone shouted at her in her head!

She tried again.

NO! THESE ARE MINE!!! The voice shouted at her.

She calmed herself, and tried to respond.

Telepathically she answered.

So, who are you?

FOLLOW MY HOUNDS AND FIND OUT!!!

Intrigued she looked at the demonic dogs, at closer inspection they looked more like statues come alive.

That was no fur, looked more like black stone.

The dogs turned their backs at her and started walking.

Ok! She thought, let's do this!

She followed the dogs.

Where would they lead her?

She was curious to find out who was behind this.

So, here are two miniatures I just got done painting and basing last night.  I ended up painting these two as well as another figure (front with a link for nudity) at the same time because I was starting out with the same skin colors, beginning with Tanned Skin.

One thing I did with the female pirate's sword and metal was I used Ashen Blue as my base color, then used deeper blues, then dark elf skin and shadow, then black, and worked upwards with lighter greys and finally white.

With the bases, which I also do very simply, I did the pirate bases starting with a base of blonde hair, then terran khaki.  The thought was to make sand, but who knows how well that worked out.

Here is the link to the third miniature:

      http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:02-806_flute8.JPG

And here is the photo this figure came from:

And a question, one of the doubts I had was about the female pirate, should I have lightened her eyebrows?

Another piece for my Lost World Project.

      WIP here:
      http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/

I was inspired by @malefactus who made a few scenic photo backdrop boards. ( He also send me the War Turtle as a gift, he is in the last pic)
I figured I'll give it a try, would be nice to take pics of finished recruits and monsters in the right surroundings.
So I made this little board out of foam, Some greenstuff and Milliput on wood to create an Aztec Style Dungeon Door, I made the glyphs using a Greenstuffworld Rolling Pin.
Vegetation made with a little plastic plant from a thrift store, Aztec Ruins from Greenstuffworld and lots of moss/flock and such which were a gift from the awesome @knarthex.

      Hope you enjoy it

I have taken pics of my Lost World minis in this background and they can be seen in my Lost World Project.
A few teasers are in here.

Nothing too complicated, I kept it simple because it is "just" a backdrop.
      I had fun making it.
Maybe I will make another one with an Undead/Gothic theme one day too.

      Well here it is.

The undead are always fun and easy to paint. Id like to accumulate more varieties in the future. This mummy practically painted himself.

And here we are - after 48 hours of building time and another 20 or so hours of drying, our beach diorama is finally done. Check here for the WIP Thread ->Let's Make a Present! Combat divers on the beach<-

When my first present - please check here ->Let's present a ... present! Owl Mage<- was received pretty well by our female colleage, my boss asked me to do more.

This time the task was to make a present for another colleague who left us. As he was in the military and also is a passionate diver, I thought of something military.
What would be a better fit than German combat divers (Kampfschwimmer)? Luckily I found a bunch of German frogmen miniatures and ordered them immediately.
When I told my boss what I had in mind, she asked me to include the following elements:

      1st: Frogmen
      2nd: An owl (of course)
      3rd: an exit
4th: a sign that links the colleague to our work.
Everything else was free for me to develop.

As Frogmen often use beaches to infiltrate or exfiltrate an area, the overall idea was to create a beach setting.
So I went down to the beach, spent some hours there swimming, enjoying the sun and making sketches, until I finally had an idea what I wanted the diorama to be like.

The owl should be sitting on a sign that warned of mines - but instead of a mines warning there should be an inside joke written on the board we often did at work.
The exit should be between two dunes and be marked by another sign. And the Kampfschwimmer unit should be astonished by what they witnessed.

So I started painting the combat divers.

After that I assembled the owl, used plastic styrene to cut out two signs, assembled them an started painting.

Still I had one problem - the showcase I ordered ... *chuckles* didn't show up. That sounds funny at the moment but should be a problem later on. And as I was doing a second diorama at the same time, the pressure increased ... *Insert creepy music here*
