@US - they seem much smaller because of the pic's angle. She'll be fun to paint I think ::):

@Mori - I always upload directly to the forum so by doing that instead of using hosting service it has the bigger option available.

A couple more pics as I've started putting her together and primed her.

Ahh! I'll try that, thanks! My problem with using imgur is that I have to make all my photos smaller before uploading or I'll take up the whole page....

What colors are you thinking of using? Red and gold? A super blue blue with a white cape? Your color schemes are always so nice! *^*

I've not really thought too far ahead. I was kinda thinking a vibrant blue tho, probably not white as I'm not good with white yet and certainly not good enough to do it for contest judging ::):

This is going to be awesome. And what I really appreciate about her is that she's actually left-handed.

Thanks! I hope to live up to everyone's expectations!

Hmm you're right, didn't notice that at first.

You say that like it's a bad thing. It's a good thing! The bestest thing!!!.................though now that I think about it, it would really screw up the phalanx.

I was actually chatting about that this weekend at our paint meetup how figures are never left-handed.

Hah! Thanks, Herman!

Oh she's not large tho, she's 28-32mm scale.

Ah, I figured she was from the Big Sisters line.

They have 54mm figs too And this one comes in both scales.

Yup. I got her last ReaperCon at the hangar18 booth. This was before I discovered I really liked painting bigger figures!

This past week, I painted Kassandra of the Blade from the Bones 3 Core Set.   A couple weeks ago, I found myself painting up a Disney Monopoly Snow White figure to command a unit of Dwarf Miners (Long story you can read about here: Princess Snow), and I was really struck by the simple but effective primary color scheme of Snow White's outfit.  I immediately decided I wanted to paint a Bones female fighter figure with the same palette.

So, I pawed through my boxes of unpainted Bones, and fell upon Kassandra of the Blade as the most suitable of what I had.    The one thing I didn't like about her was the dual-wielding of swords.  So I decided to chop off her left hand and replace it before I started painting her.
Then came the decision of what to replace it with.  I considered a shield for a while, then in looking through my box of Bones transplant donors I came across Sarah the Seeress, whose staff had gone to make my Highland Heroine into a Frostgrave Appentice, leaving her with just her left hand holding an orb of some sort. At first I thought, no, why would Snow White be holding a crystal ball; but then it hit me: paint it like an apple.      So it was an easy matter to cut off Kssandra's left hand at the wrist and glue on Sarah's hand with the orb.

And here's the final result.  I'm really happy with how it turned out, and probably it's one of the best faces I've done to date.

      Salvete, Amici!

Phew ... some time since I wrote that last time ... haha!

Well then: Time to feel the might of the Roman Legion, the breast best army of ancient Europe!

I planned to be abscent from painting for some time more, but it happened that I got a more or less good reason to start again. A friend of mine who I have known for quite some time now - he is one of the master minds behind some of the Gallia to Arms builds - I decided to make a little present for him.

Anyway ... this guy is a great fan of the Roman legion and he even has an 28mm Roman army. He is creating his army a bit in the style of an Asterix Roman army, having bought some of the characters and using them in his force.

But he still misses a force commander - and that is where I come into play. On the last Tactica wargaming event, I got a female Roman centurion from the Hot&Dangerous brand and I immediately thought what a great force commander she would make. Alea iacta est!

I don't know what would be a better fit - his birthday or christmas - but I can decide that when I am as far as I want to be.

But I will not only give the figure to him. Nah - I think this is a great opportunity for me to get back into painting. So I used my social skills to ask about some of his concepts and I think now I have got a good idea of what I have to do.

And now it is time to MAKE A GREAT PRESENT AGAIN!

Those are all the parts I have got. The lady can either use a mirror or her helmet to check her hair. Really now? I mean ... use one or the other? Nah. Not with me. She will use the mirror, but I will put the helmet in front of her and cut away her arm, so that all parts are on the base.

      And now for some basing!

      Valete!

This is an old Ral Partha Shadowrun figure, now sold by Ironwind Metals as part of the set 20-568, Male and Female Bodyguards. We're using her for a Vampire: The Masquerade character.

I liked her Old School late 20th century futurism look.

There is very little actual black on her. Most of that is lots of other colors, mixed.

There is no WIP thread, but questions and comments are welcome.
