TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted September 29, 2016 I'm with you, I didn't like Coreheim at all. Love the original game, but 17 years latter, houserules are always welcome. I'm still shocked they haven't made a revamp, even as "just" a boardgame, especially since the video game adaption's release. It is, apparently, planned - now that GW is bringing back the Specialist Games line. (Getting rid of the low entry point games was one of the sillier decisions of the previous CEO for GW. In his head, the reason folks weren't buying games that need $400 just to have a working army is because they were buying the games that needed a $40 buy in... they got rid of the $40 games, and the sales continued to drop.) Lots of Bones, a fair amount of Mantic, and the GW minis are being replaced with Perry. The Auld Grump
Dai-Mongar 16050 Report post Posted September 30, 2016 Great memories of playing Mordheim back in the day. My Sisters of Sigmar were quite formidable, and I absolutely loved their minis.
Balgin Stondraeg 378 Report post Posted September 30, 2016 Hmm. You appear to have overlooked fixing two handed weapons always striking last on a charge. That was the single worst rule (mistake) in Warhammer 5th edition. They struck first on the charge in 1st-4th edition and from 6th edition onwards. Clearly whoever was writing the rules realised it was a mistake as units armed with double handed weapons got to charge into combat, die, then never hit back (because, from 4th edition onwards, casualties did not fight back). Since models in Mordheim are individual characters it makes using a double handed weapon even more suicidal if you don't fix that rule. Either that, or you need to use them really tactically (have a number of allies with 1 handed weapons try to knock an enemy down in the hope of finishing them off with your burly two handed weapon guy because if they remain standing then they're probably going to take him out).
TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) No, they struck last in almost all editions - it wasn't until... sixth? that they started allowing them to strike first when charging. It was why nobody bothered with Knights of the White Wolf. (Let's see, more expensive, lower save, strikes last... looks like I will be getting Knights Panther instead....) The Auld Grump - read first, played second, but third edition remains my favorite. *EDIT* Whoops - there in fourth, but, unless I am missing something, not there in editions 1-3. We were both wrong. TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted October 3, 2016 Trying to recruit players to put together two pieces of PDF terrain each, so that we will have a nice crowded board... (One reaction - 'Eewww! Artsy stuff!' from Molly, our resident combat wombat.) The Auld Grump
PaganMegan 4316 Report post Posted October 14, 2016 Mordheim sounds like fun - but GORKA MORKA!
TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted October 16, 2016 And here I thought that Mad Max was a guy thing... more than half of the WAAAGGGHHH!!!! is made up of womenfolk.... (The guys don't seem to care - but Megan, Molly, Jenny, Julie, Jen, and even Trang... and Trang isn't even a gamer!) The Auld Grump - Trang gets my vote for 'Might Actually Be An Ork'.
PaganMegan 4316 Report post Posted October 16, 2016 I'd say you were being insulting. But I am pretty sure that Trang would agree with you. And she is bigger than you are, let alone me.

We can ask her. I am pretty sure that she'd enjoy being an Ork. As for bigger than me... I think that she is almost as big as Jon - and was on her school's girls wrestling team. I would dearly love to see Trang doing a pile driver with Donald Trump. (And it is so easy to picture.) The Auld Grump

TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted November 3, 2016 Played our first game of GorkaMorka last night - kinda. (Proxies here, proxies there, proxies, proxies everywhere....) Funny, I gave Megan her copy about two years ago, but it wasn't until she saw Fury Road that it became a game that she wanted to play. (She is planning on her orks to be shiny and chrome.) TheAuldGrump 18515 Report post Posted November 4, 2016 Many, many, many years ago, my brother, my sister, and I would play with slot car racing.... They would send their cars zooming around the track, until the inevitable happened - they would try to take a curve too fast and leap off of the track. Meanwhile I would putt-putt around the track, and finish the race. I always won - but I think that they had more fun. That... kinda describes how I play GorkaMorka as well.... Megan flipped her wagon in the second turn, piled out (those that could walk, that is) and ran around shooting. My vehicle survived the game undamaged, outside of some minor bullet holes. I won, but I think that she had more fun.... :P The Auld Grump - my steampunk orks are obviously worried about damaging the shiny paint jobs....
