Mordheim....

Recommended Posts

The rules for GorkaMorka are available as a free PDF on YakTribe - with GW's permission. ::P:

They used to be hosted on the GW site, but their site 'upgrade' a few years ago resulted in a site with a whole lot less functionality.

But I will give them kudos for allowing Yaktribe to host the rules, rather than just yanking them completely.

The Auld Grump

Did they do anything like that with BFG or Mordheim?

Mordheim yes, Necromunda yes - not sure about BFG, let me look.... No, it does not look like it. ::(: But a hunt through their forums turned up Specialist Arms, which does. (Took a couple of tries to download the PDF though - so you may need to make more than one attempt.)

The Auld Grump - GW is bringing back Adeptus Titanicus next year....

I had heard the Adeptus Titanicus rumor, was a little skeptical and excited all at the same time.

A re-release of the original Space Marine game would go well in my group too.

If the noises that I am hearing are correct - they are looking at 8mm, instead of the 6mm used for Space Marine and the original Adeptus Titanicus - which makes sense, since they will need to make new molds, and will want to charge more money for the Titans.

There have been many, many photos of the test Titan from around May.

Currently in the hands of Forge World, along with any other Specialist Games that might see a return to print. (Blood Bowl, then Adeptus Titanicus - with Blood Bowl confirmed.)

Mordheim is the one that worries me - given that they blowed up the Old World.....

Yeah, that's going to be a little hard to get around, which worries me, too. I liked Mordheim. A Lot.

Mordheim was set in the past of the Warhammer world anyway, so no reason why they couldn't keep in the same time period. I mean, if they're doing Horus Heresy games they can still do Old World games.

Good point. Hopefully they realize that.

The scale change doesn't bother me too much...I don't think.

I have VERY few, if any of my armies from those games anymore so it would be new purchases for the most part anyway.

What worries me about all these re-release games is how much they eff with the rules and the storylines.

While not all the rules systems, or even individual rules, were all that great sometimes I think they are really what made the games entertaining.

Long chains of dice rolls just to see what happens to your swordsman or trukk or titan was always kind of fun and helped build some suspense into the game.

The other thing that sort of makes me balk at these games, will they ever release enough of the minis to actually allow you to field a Titanicus army backed by imp guard at the 15,000 pt level again?!?!

Wow, I hadn't realized how close GW came to putting themselves out of business with GorkaMorka - way too many produced, in way too many languages... but only mediocre sales.

Which is a crying shame, it is a really fun game.

The Auld Grump - the only real fault is not enough variety in the mobs for the base game. (Orks, or those other orks.)

Yeah, not having more variety in the starting mobs is sort of a weak point of the game.

Even with the expansion there are still only four different mob types.

I think had they even made the starting mobs more different as far as skill and stat bonuses go that would have helped considerably.

I think that Digganob was only supposed to be the first of several supplements - kind of like how WotC treated the classes in 4th edition. (Which did not work all that well for WotC, either.)

Man did you nail that point.

I don't know what they would have added in other supplements but I would love to see the ideas at the very least.

I have seen a few fan made things that I never really felt worked all that well imo.

Oh well...

On a different but related front I heard today that they scale of bloodbowl changed with the new edition.  Also that the pitch has changed sizes somehow.  This points to the problem, at least in mind, with them re-doing the old classic games.
