I doubtless will be at some point soon, as soon as I get mine painted soon.

Had I mentioned soon™?

Over the weekend I started looking at how I would stat up a team of Stormtroopers (using the Imperial Assault figures).  Right now I'm thinking an Imperial Officer, four troopers, and an E-Web gunner.  I got as far as selecting a theme (Militia representing a local garrison, nothing like the 501st) and a possible tactical doctrine (Burst Discipline, but I'm not sold on it).

For weapons and armor the officer will be unarmored, and have a laser pistol; the troopers will have battle dress and laser rifles.  E-Web will also have battle dress, but I'm trying to figure the best way to represent a repeating heavy blaster.  I'm thinking maybe just using the machine gun entry and add energy weapon to it.  Not sure if that will necessitate an increase in XP cost or not.  I'll probably end up asking on the FB group about that since the author is very involved there.

Haven't looked at the skills or additional equipment yet, but am thinking the troopers will each get Marksmanship 1 as a starting place.

Thoughts?

It's only a +1, they had to have gotten some kind of training.

My observation from the one game I've played is that Leadership might actually be more important than Marksmanship.

I was briefly looking at this again last night, as as far as the troopers go, I'm thinking marksman 1 is the only trait I'm going to give them.  None of the other available traits really seemed to apply.  I suppose that helps make space in the available points for four of them in the list.  I'll probably give them grenades as well.

For the officer, not having armor seems like a Bad Idea, but obviously they don't wear any.  So I think I may make him leadership 2, veteran, and a laser pistol. Idea being he lingers behind the troops executing any rebel scum the troopers wound and rallying troopers that break.  Need to take another pass through the traits and see what else works.

Another option would be a Stormtrooper Sergeant in lieu of the officer. I'm thinking battle dress, laser rifle, veteran, leadership 1, marksman 1.

I haven't pointed any of this out yet.  Trying to identify a baseline for what fits best thematically first and go from there.

Finally got around to writing up my initial impressions of the game. TLDR: This is NOT Frostgrave in space. It's more complex... And I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Excellent good sir! Thanks for that. Worth every moment to read. Sounds like it could be an interesting game. The wounds tracking sounds like Battletech to me. Might consider it later on down the road or if I find another group trying it out. Arc of Fire will probably not be picking it up anytime soon. I think we will be playing through the Campaign of FG then the expansions then moving on to the new version, if it comes out this year.

SO I finally got a chance to watch through that video about the game posted here on this thread. Wow this game is intense. I really like that you can create practically anything you want. May just have to start trying to learn it... slowly. LOL. Or Jump in head first. who knows. ::P:

The author has outright stated that those sorts of rules are for color only.  If you want to make a robot squad, do it.

Anyone come up with profiles for the IMEF Marines or Kulathi invaders?

just as a first try for IMEF
I went with militia theme, burst disipline as the group disipline
basic troop: 30xp
light battle dress (because all over armor, but it it isn't sealed)
assault rifle (they have big slug thrower guns)
tough 1 (they are very large men)

Nick Stone 46 xp
Assault rifle (same big gun as the regular troops)
Knife (has a sheathed knife on his belt)
Light combat dress (same armor as the grunts)
Night visor (has some kind of optics on his head)
Tough 1 (equally as big as the troops)
Veteran 1 (got to have one veteran for militia)
Leadership 1 (is called out as the leader on his packaging )

reggie van zandt 54 points
Light combat dress (same armor)
Tough 2 (he lugs that giant gun, I assume he is tougher than the others)
Machine gun with self propelled projectiles (very very big gun)
Heavy worlder (again going with the idea that he is strong)
Marksman 1 (gotta get some use out of the big gun)
Reactive (I assume he is there to cover the others advance)

Torch mcHugh 40xp
Light combat dress-Plasma proof (his armor has thermal shielding bits)
Tough 1(similar size to rest of squad)
Flamer (he has a flame thrower)
Self destruction (flame throwers are dangerous)
Free disengage (does anyone really want to be anywhere near a flamer thrower operator)
Danger sense (somehow he has neither exploded nor burned to death yet. probably got a good danger sense)

Doc jigsaw 30xp
Light combat dress (same armor)
Tough 1 (same build)
Slug pistol (doesn't get the standard issue big gun)
Medic 1 (is a field medic, he can level this up later)

don't know how well they'll work, but it's an attempt
