Giant Ice Toad

12 posts in this topic

In my attempt to gather enough minis to be able to roll at least one of everything on the Frostgrave random creature table, I went looking for giant frogs. I've got one prepaint from WotC, but it is really ugly. Really ugly... So ugly I thought to myself "I could sculpt a better frog than that!"

...

Well... maybe. I started by blocking off the main body, and the other night, while sculpting the teddy bear, I decided to get back to the frog. With the little bit of green stuff mixed but unused, I gave the frog a leg.

Ugly frog for reference.

Pushed a little putty last night, and gave my toad it's other back leg.

Okay, decided to do a bit of work on my toad tonight, since my brush control is just crap after shoveling snow.

Maybe this wasn't the smartest choice, but... progress...

No automatic alt text available. No automatic alt text available.

Must remember to stop touching it when I've reached a point I like... I messed up the front claws 3 times trying to work on it!

Kinda looks more like a bulldog from the front than a toad. Gonna add some teeth... somehow. Maybe with a bit of plasticard?

I'm not sure making a lumpy droopy toad thing counts as talent, but thanks!

Pshaw, don't sell yourself short!  We are all our own worst critics, but seriously, I think you've got a very good toad there.  The most important thing is simply the doing.  We can't get better until we start.  Sadly, I look at all the things that I'd like to do, then look at the very small amount of free time I have (not to mention budget) and then have to prioritize.  :P
