The dragon king is a very majestic mini. Like most Kingdom Death minis, he's exquisitely detailed, and simply oozes character.
In addition, he's also large enough that it is hard to get a photograph of him that keeps everything in focus.
I was very happy to have a chance to paint him up. I got to do a lava face base for him (something that I'll probably do something like this on my own Dragon King when I get around to painting him up).
But enough words:
I have another player character from my D&D Storm King's Thunder campaign to share. It belongs to a player with a phoenix bloodline sorcerer. So this is the fire guy of the party. He liked the dynamic pose and the flame of the Halmar miniature, so I painted him up. I'm not good with OSL at all, but I tried to add a little bit of light on the clothes and the hair. Have to practice more before I try glowing undead ^^
I hope you like it.
This will be yet another Undead /Demon Army.
( what can I say? I love evil miniatures).
This army has an Asian theme.
Some living Asian Allies.
Hope you will enjoy it.
I created a background story for it, it is on page 2.
Have fun reading!
I will paint slowly and it may take a while, but I'm putting this out here to start.
Since I backed Zentih's Kensei Undead KS I have a few of the Undead Samurai and Demons waiting
I also have the Grenadier Wind Dragon ( alas without the two humans) and the Grenadier Imperial Dragon of the Eleven Celestial Dynasties
And some Living Samurai.
Also a nice Asian Graveyard Set.
Some stuff that has to get painted soon..
This is Istariel from Judgement. I am pretty happy with how she turned out.
I used the Olive Skin triad on her. I just bought them at Cancon and wanted to test them out. Really like them so will be ordering some of the other skin triads soon. I used several other Reaper paints including Nightshade Purple (my favorite!), and the clears = red, yellow, and purple.
She is the first 54 mm that I have painted. I figured with her being larger, her eyes would be bigger. Nope!
With so much fire and the way that it wraps around her, it was hard to do realistic highlights and shadows. I instead decided to highlight and shade her "normally" with some respect to the fire as a light source but not a set in stone guideline. I then did OSL on her using the colors of which part of the flame I thought would be hitting particular areas. My favorite parts are her right side, her underlit underboobs, and the back of her hair.
She has a lean. I have reglued her twice and she still leans. I am sure it is user error but damned if I can get her to stand straight!
Thanks for looking. C&C always welcome.
From the Kensei Undead KS.
A Kubikajiri Demoness enjoying her dinner..
She is part of my Nippon, Land of the Rising Moon project.
