Question for Monday, April 10th

What is your least used kitchen gadget?

What is your most used kitchen gadget?

Least:  Probably the garlic press since we just buy minced garlic instead.

Most:  Yeeesh, tough one, but after the various knives/spoons (which I don't really consider to be gadgets) I'd probably have to say the bottle opener or the mixers (both the hand and stand alone mixers get a lot of use).

*gadget - a small mechanical or electronic device or tool

Does microwave count? (It's not exactly 'small')

If not, can opener.

Least--corkscrew

Least--corkscrew

If it fits on the counter top, it counts.

Most: microwave.

Most used:  Microwave, coffee maker, and corkscrew are all in the running.  I don't drink a whole lot of wine, personally, but my house is one of the social hubs.

Least used: I think I have a dehydrator and a Foreman grill gathering dust in the back of the pantry.

Least used has to by the ice cream maker. It's been... 3? 4? years since it got pulled out...

Most used? Coffee pot or microwave. Honorable mention for my crock pot.

Least used: not sure, but I do know what drawer it is lying at the bottom of.

Most used: small (1.5 cup) electric chopper.  Minces garlic and other things really really well. (I wasn't counting microwave as that moves up to appliance in my mind.)

I'm not sure a spoon counts as a "gadget"... But yeah, my corkscrew sees very little use.

I was considering gadgets to be tools, but since you clearly have a bias against the almighty wooden spoon, I'll have to say can opener. Husband operated can opener. Can't beat husband power for eco friendliness!

All my small appliances are unused because while my stove/oven/fridge work, the rest of the outlets in the kitchen do not so nothing powered gets used.

4/10: Least used - we've got an all in one baby food maker, that takes raw vegetables, slices them; boils them to oblivion and then purees them.  It's still sealed in the box it came in (baby shower gift).  It's a lovely idea, but realistically, we just never had the counter space to devote to it.  Most used - probably knives.  If that doesn't count as a gadget, then toaster oven.

The Kitchen is Cap'n John's domain. While I know we have a tool or two for every known kitchen activity, what they are & how often they are used is a mystery to me

There is one thing I know is never used: the Garbage Disposal Thingy. It's sole purpose is scaring the beejeezus out of me whenever I switch it on accidentally while going for the light switch.

Least used .. probably the ice-cream maker. While we like ice cream, I have not been given the reason to make my own that I have for so many other things.

Most used.. Tossup between the toaster and the immersion blender, I think. The former toasts anything bread-like I can get into the slots, and the latter has a chopping attachment quite useful for pulverizing dry goods.

Least use would be a tie between the pasta machine and the food dehydrator.  As in I have yet to use either.  The pasta machine was a gift from my sister-in-law (who make great pasta) and the I really bought the dehydrator to dry HirstArt bricks, but my downstairs is dry enough.

Most used would be my wife's Kurig.  Both she and Daughter Dilvish use it multiple times a day.

I have nothing against wooden spoons! I love mine too! But they aren't gadgets... ::P: Gadgets have moving parts!
