One of the Fellow on the Lead Adventure Forum gave me a link to Bog Minis...a FaceBook miniature maker. He has a splendid looking array of Mushrooms.

The ones with stubby little legs & feet appealed to me. SO I'm giving them a shot.

The stubby little legs & feet prove to be pretty easy to do. The G.W. plastic Zombie arms did the trick for the upper appendages. The one on the left had I thought a wizardly look to him; SO he's wielding a Bone of Contention only the second one in existence...thus far.

A day or two later, the one with the open hand got a G.W. lantern on a stick from the Mordheim accessory sprue & had his arm slightly repositioned to light the way for the Grand Poobah Wizard.

Then today I figured that the Wiz needed some Muscle & maybe a Flunky for his entourage:

DSCN4285.thumb.JPG.e752aecac93ef51a6d05ad89f8df5164.JPG

...plus an extension to his hat for a more mage like look:

Once I get the last group done I'll have to decide whether to base them separately or do a vignette. There's time for that later...later is a favorite time with me.

So that's the Crew thus far.

I love those spare zombie arms and Mordheim bits for conversions!  I think this is the first time I've gotten to see one of your scary mushroom faces at the stage where it's just beads for eyes.  (Actually, I had no idea you were using beads for the eyes.  Brilliant idea!)

Thanks for the reply, Jordon. I'm happy you like the stuff!

The G.W. Zombie arms are favorites; they have the most beautifully sculpted hands.

The cool thing about the beads as eyes is they seem to follow the viewer wherever they move...really creepy effect.

***Diary of  Imperial Botanicus Alfred Pilsensammler ***

Day 1.

I have found several interesting species of mushrooms in these parts.

Some supersticious farmers warned me about sentient mushrooms, ridicilous!

I did find some very nice specimens though.

The flowers in this area are also very interesting.

It's getting dark, I will now rest and get up early in the morning to continue, I can't wait.

Day 2.

Absolutely amazing.

I noticed large mushrooms with spots that almost resembled eyes.

The funny effect makes a lesser intelligent person think that they're watching you!

Probably the source of the Farmer's fears.

The wind makes strange noises too, almost like whispering.

Day 3.

These mushrooms are amazing!

So many different colours, the eye like spots are getting a bit unnerving though.

I could swear I saw them follow me.

Must be a trick of the mind of course..

Day 4.

I went deeper into the forest, it's getting darker.

The trees look gnarled and twisted.

Again a lesser educated person might see monsters.

Day 5.

There are more new species of mushrooms here!

Amazing!

They're almost as large as a Dwarf!

The odd thing is there are bones and weapons lying around here.

Maybe some men left those behind?

Night.

I'm in my tent and I hear strange noises.

Whispering and it seems something is wandering around my tent.

I have lit a candle.

I can now see shadows from outside, looks like Dwarf sized creatures wielding bones and clubs.

They wear Mushroom like hats.

Is this a prank?

I will now open the tent and see for myself.

Surely these are peasants trying to scare me!

Will report later...

*** Diary of Kapitän Leopold Gartenhosen***

We have been sent to this remote area to retrieve the Botanicus who has not been seen for months.

I think this scientist is consumed with his work, and we will probably find him soon.

These scholars often forget to report and forget about time when they're studying.

Nevertheless the King got a bit worried about him and send us here.

A waste of time and Soldiers if you ask me.

If the Wandering Mushroom Fellows(?) are generating stories in their W.I.P. state, it looks like a winner to me.

Thanks for the narrative reply, X! I take it you like them thus far.

Indeed I do.

Although next time I grill a steak with mushrooms I will have to make sure the mushrooms won't walk away...

Nice caddy!

You should sculpt his tongue out of his mouth because of that heavy lifting!

The Lads are all based up, base coated & ready for some paint.

I've included Leo Sizechek for a size comparison. He's a G.W. plastic miniature from their Giant Kit. He is 32 mm to the top of his head.

Here are a few The Gang:

DSCN4294.thumb.JPG.50c4f692994d31b59874678d9f1ac61c.JPG

Leo does seem to be reacting in an appropriate manner to his setting:

...the Wizard:

...Flunky & Lantern Bearer:

...The Muscle:

,,,today may see some colors other than black & while added...or not.

...it is said that, with the ambulatory Mushrooms, the tall, star studded cap denotes wizardly abilities. It is also said to show a certain tacky taste in attire.

Thanks for the reply, TGP. Exploring the possibilities can be fun.
