Clifton James passed away today at the the age of 96...

A WWII veteran of the Pacific with five years of combat, a Purple Heart and a Silver Star, Clifton James grew up during the Great Depression. After the war, he became an actor whose credits included stage, tv and film. He played the character of Carr in Cool Hand Luke, and Sheriff JW Pepper in the James Bond Films Live and Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun. I realize that his character in the Bond movies was comic relief, but I sympathized with him - 'A secret agent?! On whose side?'

Rest in Peace.
