I've just been rearranging my display shelves & have noticed that I actually have a few minis that I have never shown on these boards. They are the first ones that I painted a few years ago when I returned to the hobby after many, many years. I will show the others soon but to begin with, here's GW's Gandalf The White & Shadowfax.
The actual paint job is essentialy me getting back in the swing of things by copying the image on the miniatures' packaging, I made the base terrain(s) using air drying clay, gravel & sand & added some grass clumps to finish.

Back soon with something "big, ferocious & wingy" - thanks for looking!
Little is known of Father Mordicais past, before he pledged his allegiance to the God of Plagues, but the speed at which he and his Chalice Of Filth warband have gained notoriety amongst the multitudes that battle for the attentions of the Dark Gods make him someone to be feared and respected.
Presenting Father Mordicai - The Lord of Corruption, he is the leader of one half of Games Workshops latest Warhammer 40K starter set.
Not completely happy with this one.
Made a mess basing him, there's sand all clumped up around his feet. I also couldn't get his arms to attach properly (they dry-fitted perfectly at the start, so I'm not sure what changed), leaving a sizeable gap around his shoulders.
At least I didn't do too terrible of a job painting him.
As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
Pretty much what it says on the tin. I'd be pretty shocked to see GW allow Wizkids to produce miniatures, unless they're way out of scale with GW's stuff, but it'll be interesting to see what kind of board games they come up with.
I'm also wondering if they're not looking for someone to take the place of the recently expired partnership with Fantasy Flight Games.
An actually local FLGS has opened in my home town. Being a pretty small town, the main things going on seem to be Magic and 40K. Not having a 40K army I had a look around and decided I liked the Horus Heresy marines.
Problem is, Marines are a bit of a blank canvas and I don't have an artists eye for color so I tossed some different paints on a couple figs. The one I liked the best was based on Marine Teal.
I think the basic color scheme is sound but I have some questions about some of the accessories.
I'm not sure what to do with the bolter. I think more teal and brass would be too much but other things I've tried didn't quite work. The blue on it now isn't bad but I think it could be better.
I did the lava base mostly because I wanted an excuse to use the Basius pads I got from their Kickstarter. From what I remember from the Jen & Ann's DVD section on color theory the warm colors might bring too much focus from the mini itself? Any thoughts on that?
I've got a bunch of these GW Chaos Space Marines taking up space, so I figured I'll paint one or 2 of them every once in a while. Kharne the Betrayer is a pretty interesting guy, so I'm going to work on him first.
Early steps so far; I'm just working on his armor right now. Ignore the color on his arm; that's going to be going away soon.
