Reapercon classes

268 posts in this topic

Classes I signed up for:

Painting Tattoos and other Skin Effects, with Andy Pieper

Textures: Smoothness isn't Everything, with Jessica Rich

Lighting Effects, with David Diamondstone

Monster Tones with Michelle Blastenbrei

Shaded Basecoat Technique with James Wappel

Classes I wanted, but resisted signing up for:

Too many to name.

I think a lot of the friendliness comes from us getting to meet in real life, so we know not only that the words on screen are another person, but most of the time they're also someone we like.  Reapercon and the other conventions Reaper attends each year are a big part of that. We all have the same hobby and interests, so common ground is easy to find.

ReaperCon is, by far, the friendliest convention I have ever attended. If I could only attend one convention each year, it would be this one.

Ooh, I didn't see the tattoos class. But I really don't want to spend any more money on classes and I still want some free time, so not this year.

Oh well, next year, maybe.

I managed to get several of the classes I wanted.

Level up your painting

Wet blending

Shaded basecoat

I'm currently debating a NMM  class but unsure if my skills are sufficiently advanced enough for the advanced class or not.  Unless the classes dissappear before I make up my mind.

I've taken all sorts of classes I probably wasn't qualified for. It's usually worth it--at least for me, I've learned a lot!

Taking an NMM class without having awesome blending skills could give you the impetus to work on your blending--and a few other things besides, like highlighting. It is never too early to work on highlight placement, even if your minis only pass tabletop inspection.

Just my 2 cents...

Save some for those of us that couldn't take the day off/do it at work!!

*stressed that there will be nothing left but "drinking (like a pansy elf) with @ub3r_n3rd" and "intro to painting in ducts with your own hair while avoiding traps" taught by @buglips*the*goblin

I would take that. Might be almost as good as Bryan's bones class!

Hmm. Maybe you should ask Wappel about painting with hair. I seem to remember him having some experience!

As I'm taking the ... how do I phrase this... "Sleeping with Ub3r's snores" section, I'm less likely to take the class on drinking, though we may end up in the same places.  However, watching the Buglips class would be worth it!  Especially if it appeared in the afternoon section on Sunday!

I got everything I needed;

TNA- The Art of Hot Chicks (Jessica Rich)

Glazed Over (Jessica Rich)

Blending: Skin and Fabrics (Mical Schultz)

Blending (Brice)

True Metallics 101 (Aaron Lovejoy)

If you can't tell there's a bit of a pattern here. I just hope they don't mind my constant looks of confusion.

What are your top 3? We could go check for you, if the site is blocked at work.

My guess is that, with the initial rush over, things wills settle down for another 1-2 hours, until people start getting home from work, and initiate a second wave of registrations.

Pure jealousy.

^_^

She's a very good teacher and teaches classes on popular subjects, so her classes can be difficult to get into. TNA, for instance, disappeared inside the first minute, I think.

Sorry... nothing personal at you.  We're just jealous that you were able to get in some great classes and wish there was more Jessica Rich to go around.

Glad there are going to be lots of people going getting some great classes!

Holy crap! I owe my coworker more then. I had to leave him alone on the road construction site to take the 30min trip back to the office to sign up.
