It's a beautiful day here too... :squint: This must mean the world is about to end

Not according to my schedule....

I have a backyard full of squirrels, and rabbits that are just begging to be hunted.

Anyways, complaint about slow computer now actually submitted. I had tried to submit it before, but was pretty much told "No. It won't do any good. No one is getting their computer replaced." And I had to smile and tell them serveral

times that I wanted mine reported because even though I'm sure it will still be no, how do the power that be know there is a problem with everyone's computer if we don't report all the problems?

*smiles* *smiles* *smiles*

No feelings of rage here. Nope nope nope.

You're obviously not expressing your needs properly. May I suggest using a fire axe in your future negotiations? I can recommend some....colorful...language that may be helpful, as well.

Ooh, hard question.

Perhaps if the "jelly" were a slightly bitter marmelade? And I think you would have to use crunchy peanut butter.

I know I'm late to the party, but I'm catching up...

they do make Bacon Jam, though you have to like onion too as that is one of the other main ingredients.

Maybe I should start playing WoW or something. I mean, it can't be that bad. Right?

That's about what I said about Minecraft when it first came out.

I believe my exact words were "Eh, it seems kinda fun, I guess. I can't see myself becoming addicted to this, it's just building stuff."

Aha. Ahahahaha. Yeah....

Soooo.... At the Bones IV party, Bryan and Ludo were being silly geese and got matching balloon antlers, claiming to be "Devout Morihaldans."

Red Ambrosia said, "Ahh, devotee of morihalda, a perfect reapercon ribbon!"

What would be a good phrase to put on a ribbon that doesn't smugly sound like, "oooh look at me, come get my Mori ribbon!"

'Cause I want silly, not pretentious. :zombie:

That's a good question, I think some druid vows would be in order.

Druid Vow has a nice ring to it. ::D:

How about "Antler Friend"? Something about druid or antlers should get the point across without seeming pretentious.

EDIT: Oh that reminds me, I need to order my ribbons! ::o:

Given the small size of said ribbons .. . Mori-Holden? >.>

How many of you remember the old 1980's LJN Dungeons & Dragons action figures?

Fun Fact: How many of you ever noticed that...

Ringlerun, Good Wizard...

Spoiler

RinglerunPosed1a.jpg

...and...

 Kelek, Evil Wizard...

Spoiler

KelekPosed1a.jpg

... Were actually the exact same figure with a minor resculpt? ::D:

Spoiler

RinglerunKelek.JPG.a21ed662ed32ef75c3b88c9a7a87dd0e.JPG

...Aside from Ringlerun having hair, the only physical differences in the figures are minor details -

- The visible portions of the faces/foreheads are slightly different

- Kelek has skulls on his bracers and a different design on his belt buckle

Everything else is just different paint schemes...

Back in the '80's, it was incredibly common for a line of action figures that numbered in the dozens to have no more than three or four different bodies between the entire lot of them, just painted different colors, or with slightly different arms and legs.

So I'm reading the Pellucidar books for the first time, having read 4-5 books into the John Carter series a decade or so ago.

I believe ERB wrote the same book at least eight times.  I bet Tarzan is much the same.

Urg.

Having a bad day today. It's one of those days I'm seriously considering sobering up and going back on the meds just so the ideas will stop and I won't have to write anymore. I can be boring and mediocre again. The pain will go away. I won't mean anything anymore. I'll be a good little citizen without thoughts or ideas or passions. Just like everyone wanted.

Then I realize what I'm thinking and I get horrified and disgusted with myself.

Just... it's a bad day today. A really bad day. Maybe I can give myself an existential crisis around 2am to cheer me up.

So I realized I only had one painted dwarf (!) when one of my GMs asked me if I had anything for the Jadeborn, a race in Exalted that is roughly equivalent to dwarves except for the 0.001% who are roughly equivalent to elves. And they are also sort of stone golems. Based on jade.

I thought Reaper's 60184: Meyanda, Android Priestess, sculpted by Bobby Jackson, would do well for one of the elfy artisan Jadeborn and I pulled out a random assortment of seven (because of course) dwarves for the worker and warrior Jadeborn.

All paints used are Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. Color mixes are (usually) noted, but not exact ratios.

Questions are welcomed and I will try to answer them. Critiques are appreciated.

This is the way I usually start miniature figures: Lightly primed with Titanium White, then when that is dry, washing it over with Burnt Umber. Burnt Umber is a dark, transparent pigment that settles into crannies when thinned down and shows the details very well. It also gives a nice warm undertone to later paint layers.

I left a few crystal and gem areas white so they will have more luminosity later.

      Left to right:
Reaper 60184, Meyanda Android Priestess; Ral Partha; Hasslefree HFD014 Hatherley; Oathsworn Miniatures; Oathsworn Miniatures; Red Box Games; Stonehaven Miniatures; Reaper 14143: Kara Foehunter, Dwarf Hero

      Details:

The Ral Partha dwarf is tiny!

So, I'm a part of a Bi-Monthly Twitter Secret Santa'like Exchange called #BoxofManyThings! I'm doing Miniatures for both of the organizers of it and this is one of them. The individual in question goes by the Handle, owlbare on twitter and uses a Purple Owlbear as his Avatar. So I chose to do up a Cute little Owlbear for him in his signature Colors. These are actually his photos since I forgot to take any! Anywho, hope you enjoy:)

Rather than clutter up the topic in sci-fi general with the details of how I'm painting these guys, I decided to start a wip thread.

The plan is to paint all the marines in the primaris half of the new warhammer 40000 starter box.

So far I know the base colors I'm going with are purple armor, silver trim, blue weapons, green lenses. I haven't decided on squad markings or chapter symbol yet. This is of course not the colors of a canonical chapter, so I'm making it up as I go.

I painted two test models just to make sure purple, blue, silver looked ok.

I speed-painted these over two afternoons to be a party of NPC adventurers for an eclectic mash-up of Exalted and the World of Darkness.  They are 77322, Kassandra of the Blade (sculpted by Werner Klocke); 77405, Aeris, Female Elf Ranger (sculpted by Julie Guthrie); as-yet unnumbered Mythos figures based on 50032: Jake Ryan, Hero Explorer (sculpted by Bobby Jackson) and the Victorian Lord from the set 50326: Victorian Lord & Dame (sculpted by Bob Ridolfi); and 77409, Flara, Elf Heroine (sculpted by Werner Klocke).

      WIP thread here.
