That may have been the most Philadelphia thing I've ever eaten.

It was a soft pretzel, fresh, stuffed with cheddar-like flavored fake cheese.

It was very... um...

It tasted like food?

Never had a cheesesteak? Man, you're in for an artery-clogging treat the first time you have a proper one. Cheez-whiz never tasted so good! Though I do still prefer provolone most of the time.

Well, yeah, I mean, they start two world wars and it's hard to be too very surprised by a vampire-driven third installment.

Hey, the Germans didn't start WWI. That was the Austro-Hungarians, after a Bosnian who was assisted by the Serbian military assassinated the heir to their throne. The Germans just got blamed for it because when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia the Germans had their back and jumped in too, and by the end of the war Austria-Hungary had already fallen apart due to internal collapse that was precipitated by their military losses.

They did totally start WWII though...

SEMANTICS. WE'RE BLAMING THE GERMANS.

I'd literally kill for a ride to Waffle House right now.

I picture @Darsc Zacal just chilling in a box in his living room after work.

Well, sorta. Close though.

I'm surrounded by my boxes full of minis and hobby stuff.

Some of the boxes are pretty big.

I've had cheesesteaks tho. This was more Philly than that.

To be fair, I haven't had one with cheez whiz. I can't bring myself to put cheez whiz on meat. Cheez whiz should stay in the back of the car during cross country road trips where it belongs.

There's nothing more Philly than a real cheesesteak! Well, unless you're eating a cheesesteak while getting in a fight with a guy from Pittsburgh about who has the better sportsball teams*.

*It's Pittsburgh. GO PENS!

Until they learn how to make them with fully ripened peppers I'll pass.

Green Bell Peppers, while flavorful, aren't something I enjoy as they always "repeat" for hours afterwords.

The people in Philly need to learn how to make Fajitas.

Meh, a proper steak sandwich is the steak sandwich my uncle learned while working on the (former) family cattle ranch: inch thick steak between two slices of wonderbread. It's not proper unless the bread dissolves.

Got drunk enough to order a bunch of broccoli on the Internets, including: the Age of Apocalypse omnibus. My favorite storyline ever. I had all those comics, once upon a time, but someone looted them from my home. :( Looking forward to reading them again.

Breaded or no?

Steak was initially unbreaded. I guess once the sandwich has been constructed it becomes breaded.

But no, light fire, put grill over fire, cook steak on grill, eat with hands, juice runs all down the elbow. In my experience this method of eating can include biting into gristle, pulling at the steak, maybe even growling as you rip it apart with your teeth...

And yet there's never been a cardiac diagnosis of any kind on that side of the family ::P:

My cat likes to sleep in my discarded pants. I decided that I would tuck him into my discarded pants using my discarded shirt. He likes the idea.

Now I'm going to try to finish watching Suicide Squad. I'm 45 minutes in, and it's not that great.

I want a sandwich now.

I had tiny microwaved biscuits instead tho.

I'll feel so bad tomorrow.

Goodnight.

So I realized I only had one painted dwarf (!) when one of my GMs asked me if I had anything for the Jadeborn, a race in Exalted that is roughly equivalent to dwarves except for the 0.001% who are roughly equivalent to elves. And they are also sort of stone golems. Based on jade.

I thought Reaper's 60184: Meyanda, Android Priestess, sculpted by Bobby Jackson, would do well for one of the elfy artisan Jadeborn and I pulled out a random assortment of seven (because of course) dwarves for the worker and warrior Jadeborn.

All paints used are Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. Color mixes are (usually) noted, but not exact ratios.

Questions are welcomed and I will try to answer them. Critiques are appreciated.

This is the way I usually start miniature figures: Lightly primed with Titanium White, then when that is dry, washing it over with Burnt Umber. Burnt Umber is a dark, transparent pigment that settles into crannies when thinned down and shows the details very well. It also gives a nice warm undertone to later paint layers.

I left a few crystal and gem areas white so they will have more luminosity later.

      Left to right:
Reaper 60184, Meyanda Android Priestess; Ral Partha; Hasslefree HFD014 Hatherley; Oathsworn Miniatures; Oathsworn Miniatures; Red Box Games; Stonehaven Miniatures; Reaper 14143: Kara Foehunter, Dwarf Hero

      Details:

The Ral Partha dwarf is tiny!

So, I'm a part of a Bi-Monthly Twitter Secret Santa'like Exchange called #BoxofManyThings! I'm doing Miniatures for both of the organizers of it and this is one of them. The individual in question goes by the Handle, owlbare on twitter and uses a Purple Owlbear as his Avatar. So I chose to do up a Cute little Owlbear for him in his signature Colors. These are actually his photos since I forgot to take any! Anywho, hope you enjoy:)

Rather than clutter up the topic in sci-fi general with the details of how I'm painting these guys, I decided to start a wip thread.

The plan is to paint all the marines in the primaris half of the new warhammer 40000 starter box.

So far I know the base colors I'm going with are purple armor, silver trim, blue weapons, green lenses. I haven't decided on squad markings or chapter symbol yet. This is of course not the colors of a canonical chapter, so I'm making it up as I go.

I painted two test models just to make sure purple, blue, silver looked ok.

I speed-painted these over two afternoons to be a party of NPC adventurers for an eclectic mash-up of Exalted and the World of Darkness.  They are 77322, Kassandra of the Blade (sculpted by Werner Klocke); 77405, Aeris, Female Elf Ranger (sculpted by Julie Guthrie); as-yet unnumbered Mythos figures based on 50032: Jake Ryan, Hero Explorer (sculpted by Bobby Jackson) and the Victorian Lord from the set 50326: Victorian Lord & Dame (sculpted by Bob Ridolfi); and 77409, Flara, Elf Heroine (sculpted by Werner Klocke).

      WIP thread here.
