Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

I guess the other thing to keep in mind RE: Chronoscope vs. Dreadmere is more of Dreadmere appears to be stuff that's already available in metal, while Chronoscope looks mostly like new sculpts. Seems reasonable that you could get a little more bang for your $50 pledges if a lot of the stuff is recast.

Unrelated, but Torlan and Bufo now live in my campaign setting, and they are best friends and have great misadventures.

Actually chronoscope is mostly old sculpts. 301-304 & 334-338 are the only new ones, I think...

Only 10 of the dreadmere minis are old.

Er, whoops! That's exactly what I meant to say, I somehow swapped the two there. My bad!

Wait no I'm entirely wrong now. Please disregard me entirely!

Yeah. Even though I need dramatically more sci-fi minis now than I did last year, I need to start trimming my pledge a bit and Chronoscope is the least enticing of everything here. It's a little sad. But it also means we're getting some great stuff elsewhere, too.

Trim the pledge if you must BUT remember you can always add $50+ for it around Christmas time as a gift for yourself. :P

A couple more badges online:

Also, on the score of what people are pledging for ... like most I have a LOT of minis.  20 or so.  :B):

Here's the history of my pledging so far:

  • Bones 1: Double Vampire plus most Add-ons ... this was because of the trade-in of Sophie and where I landed monetarily.
  • Bones 2: This was a split buy between me and another family.  Splitting the core which we were so-so on, I bought all the giants, Mashaaf and Khanjira, and they bought most of the dragons and we split Expansion 2 because that's where the Shadow Bones were.
  • Bones 3: Just myself again, I didn't get the Core set and cherry picked from it.  I bought all the giants (naturally), Goremaw, and the Armory stuff

I always get the Elemental, Ghost, Shadow Translucent Bones because they are friggin cool.  Which leads me to point out we haven't seen any YET in Bones 4

I always get the paints.  The usual two sets are listed already but the first set is literally already existing paints (not complaining, I don't have most of them).  So maybe we'll see a C set.

And now Bones 4:

  • The expansion sets have been mostly misses for me in each of the previous campaigns.  Either they haven't had much I wanted (1 or 2 pieces) or they were just not interesting at the time.  BUT so far #1 AND #2 are both awesome.  I play Shadowrun, Firefly and Gamma World, so the Chronoscope stuff is very appealing this go around.  And Dreadmere is just amazing.  Now the question remains, what's Expansion #3 going to look like?
  • The Core Set ... Bones 3 core set didn't really do much for me.  The initial batch weren't overly useful.  I didn't need Lizardfolk, etc.but so far in Bones 4, this has been awesome as well.  I have seriously been making plans for gaming based on the minis in the core set.
  • Add-ons ... this is where Bones KS shine for me ... GIANTS!  No disappointment here so far ... Fire Giant Huntsman and Hill Giants so far.  Dragon Turtle, yup.  Skeletal Monsters, check!

So, according to the Pledge Manager ... I am up to the most I've spent for any KS so far ... already.  $380.

Naturally, this is the year I have even less money than normal.  Truck's transmission just ground to a halt.  Roof has a leak.  Taxes on the house went up!

So, a hearty thank you to Reaper for making it WAY TO EASY for me to add more funds to this endeavor after the KS is over.  Bastards!  God, I love you guys.

BRING IT ON!! I CAN TAKE IT!

"Clear" paints are not transparent.  They are single pigment paints, not color blends. This confuses people to no end.

Well, that explains why something I was trying to do with some of the "clear" paint didn't work...

You'd think they'd call it "pure" or something else to avoid the confusion...

Yeah, I certainly didn't realize it when I got my "clear yellow" in Bones 3. It worked for the translucent mini I was working on, but I only used a small amount.

I am surprised by the disparity there. It's not only that Dreadmere has more figures, but it has bigger figures, too. I almost wonder if there might be a fourth part to Chronoscope?

Reaper has previously stated that Chronoscope has only 3 parts, and that there will not be a 4th.

Huzzah!

Bryan has stated that the Chronoscope is done at 3 parts. I expect Dreadmere to be done as well. A surprise for the sci-fi lovers would be nice tho, but I won't be holding my breath.

Saw on the KS comments that Bryan has said that the expansions are "probably" finished. Just when I stick my neck out...

Nooo!  Need a third Expansion!  Although according to the PM I have plenty to buy already.  I was hoping they would do another terrain expansion like Graveyard in B3.

On the subject of color paint names, I do wish "Scholar Flesh" had, well, pretty much any other name, considering its implications. It's not like it's a big deal, just causes me to make the  face in real life when I think about it.

      About this project
This is my first set of TerraScapes.  I present to you a natural Caves & Grottos core set. With the full range of double sided modular tiles, you can quickly create ultra-realistic cavern scenarios for any of your spelunking adventures! If you've ever found yourself in a cave, you know how under represented they are in the games that we love to play. There is nothing linear about spelunking and caverns aren't flat! Caves are twisted sections of open air encased by cool moist rocky walls.  That's why I've coined this terrain as a Nonlinear Modular Terrain System, and it's a new way of dressing your Tabletop with functional, dynamic terrain for all your Tabletop RPG's!
TerraScapes: Caves and Grottos strives to simulate natural terrain for optimal immersion and strategic playability. To maximize the possibilities every tile is double sided! This means that with every tile you get twice the possible play space! Both tops and bottoms of each tile can be used in your layouts!  Each tile is designed to work like a table where instead of legs, you have stalactites and large rocks. It allows you to stack them up however you want! This gives your layout real depth and introduces a whole new dimension for increased strategical encounters. Whether it's for your big boss battle, wargame or random encounter, everything you'll need for an endless tactical cavern layout comes with our set of Caves & Grottos!
This video shows how to build an endless array of immersive caverns for your tabletop!
What's in the Full Set?  I have a ton of tiles prototyped and ready for this campaign.  If everything is unlocked we will have 9 Core double-sided tiles, 3 exclusive large  double-sided KS tiles, 2 Rock Packs which include a total of 8 double-sided rocks and rock/well combinations, 2 sets of Stalactite risers containing a total of 4 risers, 3 double-sided flowstone/pit centerpieces and 4 packs of double-sided wall sections containing 8 wall sections.  This is everything you'll need to bring to life any dynamic cavern scenario that you could possibly dream up!  You can purchase any of these Packs of tiles or accessories as Add-ons as they are unlocked during this campaign by managing your pledge amount and adding their cost(s).  If you are bad with arithmetic, just send me a message and I'll give you hand personally!
I know, I know...  I'm getting ahead of myself here!  When the campaign launches we'll only have the three tiles from Core Pack:A, and the exclusive KS:1 tiles available.  Whenever we unlock another Core Pack, I will also unlock another exclusive KS tile for you to snatch up!  I am fairly confident that we are going to smash through almost every stretch goal I have planned.
Core Pack:A Random Layout with KS Tile:1  With the exception of the Stalac-Packs, note that every terrain piece in TerraScapes is double-sided. The following graphics depict both the tops and bottoms of every piece and are not separate pieces offered with the packs.  The sizes listed are in terms of tile height.  So a Size 2 piece is two tiles high.  A Size 3 piece is 3 tiles high.
Please Manage your Pledge if you would like to add-on any pieces.  A survey will be sent after the Kickstarter has concluded for you to list which add-ons and options (like paint schemes) you would like.  All shipping charges will be handled by a Third Party Pledge Manager after the Kickstarter as well.  You will have until December 1st, 2017 to update your Pledge using this Pledge Manager
3 Core Pack:A tiles and the first Exclusive KS Tile:1 As each set of new tiles and accessories are unlocked we will journey deeper into what TerraScapes: Caves and Grottos has to offer any story.  During this campaign, your very pledges will move a group of adventurers through the deep, exploring the sets that you unlock.  Our heroes fate will depend upon your support!  When the campaign ends, our adventurers will either perish or succeed in escaping these deep Caves & Grottos!
      Core Pack:A, KS Tile:1 and Rocks & Wells Pack:A
Rock & Wells Pack:A contains four Size 1 Risers
Stalac-Pack:A contains two Size 2 Risers

Core Pack:B Random Layout with KS Tile:2

      About this project
Add extra depth to your gaming sessions with Adventure Realm RPG Game Tiles – Castles and Dungeons set. We want to create a set of 16 eight inch square tiles with full colour printing on both sides, giving you over 2000 square inches of mapping artwork for your gaming. Each tile has one inch square grid subtly included on the images, making them ideal for integrating with your miniatures and roleplaying.  They are made on thick card and are gloss laminated to be compatible with dry-wipe marker pens.

On one side of the tiles are sixteen top down view castle tiles, ideal for quickly putting together a city wall or castle complex for your adventurers to explore. The castle tiles comprise the following:

      1 x Wall outward corner, 4 x Wall inward corner, 1 x Gate, 5 x Straight walls, 1 x Dungeon entrance, 1 x Well courtyard, 1 x Grassed courtyard, 1 x Keep roof, 1 x Fenced corral

The castle tiles can be put together to make a complete small stronghold (above), while two sets give you plenty of options for an entire fortress (just one example given below).

Turn the castle images over and you have 16 dungeon tiles, all in full colour, giving you a flexible warren of corridors and rooms to battle through.  The dungeon tiles include:
      1 x Throne room, 1 x Tower stair well, 1 x Cellar stairs, 1 x Prison cells, 1 x Torture chamber, 1 x Demonic temple, 1 x Carpeted corridor, 1 x T Junction stairs, 1 x Circular pit, 1 x Wizards tower, 1 x Corner corridor, 1 x Storage room, 1 x Guard chamber, 1 x Tower chambers, 1 x Grassland secret entrance, 1 x Water secret entrance

The dungeon tiles can create the area underneath a castle, or be used in their own right for quickly assembling evocative dungeon scenes for adventurers to explore.
This is our second Kickstarter project for the Adventure Realm series, with our first set of tiles successfully funded in November 2016.  The Castle and Dungeon set will work seamlessly with the original Town and Wilderness set.  So if you want a city wall between the town buildings and the great outdoors, now you can!
Or you can expand your townscape to include fortified areas, underground  spaces, etc.
If you missed the Kickstarter for Town and Wilderness you can add that set to your pledge to make even bigger adventuring worlds.

      About this project
      PLEASE NOTE:
A starter 3D printer begins around $220 (see F.A.Q.) Each pledge level includes all previous pledge levels. The optional $10 Add-On sets shown below can be added to any pledge level by adding the appropriate amount to your core pledge, or select one of the 'Hero' pledge levels that fits your needs. There is no pledge level that includes the 'Prior Kickstarter Add-Ons'. You must add the amount for these sets to whatever pledge level you choose. We do not use an after-campaign pledge manager. All pledges must be in by the end of the campaign. DRAGONLOCK™ is an interlocking terrain system that allows you to create fully modular, multi-level 28mm scale village terrain for your RPG or wargame on your home 3D printer. Each set is delivered in a downloadable .stl format via our online distribution partner DriveThruRPG.com, and once you have the set, you can print as many pieces as you like and never run out or need to purchase more. These terrain sets represent the culmination of over twelve years of gaming terrain design experience.
Fat Dragon Games is the only 3D printer terrain company that is part of the prestigious DriveThruRPG Community Content program, which includes Margaret Weis Productions, Monte Cook Games, and Wizards of the Coast’s DMs Guild. Our Dragonbite Community Creator program allows YOU to sell your own Dragonbite-compatible terrain designs on DriveThruRPG, RPGNow, and Wargame Vault!
By supporting us through Kickstarter, you get bonus models that won't be available later, and access to free stretch rewards. We have been in the 'print-and-play' terrain business for over twelve years, and have successfully delivered eight previous Kickstarter projects, so you can pledge with confidence that we will deliver a high-quality product on time.
FREE STRETCH REWARDS that will increase the size of the terrain offerings will be available to anyone pledging at the 'Realm of the Mountain King' pledge level or higher. Spread the word about this project to your friends and post about it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc., and GET FREE BONUS MODELS as the pledges rise!
A standard dungeon wall piece costs around $0.40 in plastic to print yourself, far cheaper than factory-made terrain! All of the models shown were printed at 100-200 micron resolution, a common standard on most economical 3D printers. A nice starter printer that can print these files starts around $220 (see our F.A.Q. for more info on printers, printing costs, filaments, and more.)
Even if you don't currently own a 3D printer, it benefits you to support this campaign now. You can get all of the free stretch rewards, exclusive content in some sets not available later, and have a digital library of village terrain ready to go when you do purchase a printer.

A set of 13 detailed male & female 28mm scale gnome miniatures, suitable for all your Fantasy miniature games, from Midlam Miniatures.

      About this project
The Baron of Midlam, on dealing with the matter of the 'Winter Adventurers' returned home to Midlam Manor, to a most alarming sight.  For there, at the end of his estate, at the bottom of the garden, was a hill, where previously, there had been no hill.
Fortunately the Wizard Gudgrief had accompanied him, and was quick with sage advice.  "I fear my Lord, that you have a mild infestation of gnomes, the common or garden sort.  Quite harmless, I assure you... "
The Baron did not look best pleased, for this was Midlam Manor, his supposedly secret retreat, far from the hustle and bustle and plotting and scheming of Midlam Town.  And now there were gnomes here.
Gudgrief, sensing the Baron's dismay was quick to step in.  "You'll find they are no bother, indeed, they are good at tending gardens so they team with flowers, will protect your grounds from wild animals and alert you to the coming of foes.  Other than that, you'll hardly know they are here... harrumph, apart from the hills of course... they do so like to build hills..."
Midlam Miniatures are pleased to present a collection of thirteen 28mm scale figures, for all of your Fantasy games. There are a variety of both male and female gnome miniatures.
