Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Recommended Posts

Shipping is outside my KS budget.  I'm constrained by the limits of what I can import into NZ without paying duty, which caps at about $230 USD.  Allowing for unexpected problems means I don't want to have a declared value of over $200 per shipment, but shipping is a internal cost as far as this is concerned and doesn't impact the declared value.  As such, I can (and will) ignore it for the purposes of my budget for the KS.

It all fits under my hobby budget for the year, which is set at about 3% of my salary.

It's possible I over plan these sort of things : )

Mind you, there's no chance (and should be no chance) of that happening. But I'd be getting so many minis over the next few months .... ::):

Definitely don't expect it to happen. Probably a good thing too (for what is left of my wallet).

Hmm my budget is me saying "OK I won't spend over $200 on pledge this time and then I won't go over $500 total for everything else I buy in PM during the time it is open."  I am sure it will go over because I will be going off of what I spend before taxes and shipping.  I should do a hobby budget now that I have a bankroll for poker playing and it does not come out of our banking account like it did the prior years. Who am I kidding...I should have a budget in place period. :)

Have we found out how big Nyarlathotep is going to be?  I think it could turn out pretty cool and I am super excited to see some updates, I haven't seen too many people talking about it.

There is a human on the concept picture. Is that not accurate? It looks only "Large" next to the human. If its bigger I may have to add.

I'm helping!

I can't take credit for the idea. Someone else posted the idea many pages ago. I happened to think it was brilliant also ^_^

Yep! Bathory got the idea in her head, and it twisted her rubber arm into buying two sets.^_^

Aha!  That does sound like one of Bathory's ideas.

I need it now. I will get it in 18 months. Maybe in 18 months you'll need it. :poke:

Make plans around the barge - so that when it comes, you will have a use for it.

There is nothing wrong with writing a scenario around a particularly awesome model. And something like that barge... could be the climax for a campaign.

Goodness knows, that is my plan - and the scenario pretty much popped into my head in full bloom.

The Auld Grump - the idea of a liche that is a trifle on the proactive side appeals to me.

Over on the comments in Kickstarter Reaper has stated that the barge and Argent were the capstones for the ks.

I wonder then which of those were they referring to when they said in the first preview video that they had something even "bigger" than DoD?  Since neither seems bigger in either size or "wow" factor.

Oddly enough, that makes me feel better that it's just me being jaded.

Though now I'm wondering about part 3 of the barge.. Charon, and maybe Cerebus? I'd like a over-sized cerebus who was more dog-like. So I can paint one of the heads with a spot over one eye.

I can totally believe that Argent is a capstone piece.  It's been stated that it's as tall as Mal, which makes it a very impressive large dragon.  I also suspect that with the sculpt being worked on during the wrap up party and tech issues complicating things, the opportunity to hype up the presentation of Argent didn't get pulled off as well as it could.  Bryan can only juggle so many balls, and so fast.

Argent is actually one of my favorite dragons, the pose is majestic and the legs look nice and sturdy.  I also like the idea that someone other than Julie Guthrie got to sculpt a dragon--it's only fair to share the fun around.  ^_^

I did not see this posted anywhere so I thought I'd share. KAMB is an easy to learn, fast paced RPG where you play a Kobold. You die, a lot. They're celebrating their 20th anniversary and are running a kickstarter to re-release the original zine that started it all, but with better rules. I play this every year at Origins in a 100 player game called the Kobold Midnight Massacre and can confirm that it's a great time of silly hijinks and horrible death checks

I haven’t backed any of Bears Heads kickstarters yet, but I’ve been tempted by everyone.
This is the one that I give in to.
      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/98300108/narthoks-the-excellent
But hurry! It’s funded with ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!

As nice as that sculpt is, it’s the sci-fi and bartender versions I’m most excited about. The stretch goals for those have been reached, but only concept drawings are available to show.

I think these are great unique looking eye beasts.
@TheAuldGrump maybe something you could use for your campaign?
