Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Recommended Posts

Having worked in client services for a long time I can say

“we got 100 emails about this”

sounds more impactful then

”some people posted on the forum”

and we can also do both. I don't see why we have to do one or the other. It helps to vent our disappointment to each other as well, and it'll help me compose a more calm email to Reaper when i can vent my real feelings here.

I'm flat chested. I don't take it personally that 98% of female miniatures out there are huge busted and that is the only 'sexy' way to be female in this gaming world. I don't care about that. I don't care that according to the standards set by everything in the media and gaming and everywhere else, 'i'm not 'sexy'

what i DO care about is that 98% of those female miniatures out there are so horribly armored in spandex-armor that wouldn't do anything to protect them but shows maximum boobs, or in armor plates that have boob shaped bumps hammered into them for maximum boob exposure. I hate that. I really do. It makes 0 sense, it's only there so that they're 'sexy'

i just liked that FOR ONCE a miniature broke the mold of what is normal and sexy. They had armor. I don't care what size the boobs underneath were. They had actual ARMOR. For battle. Real armor that covered them like armor would. Not spandex-armor that contoured to their bodies unrealistically, not boob shaped breastplate to show off as much as possible

they had real armor, they looked like real actual warriors, and i liked it.  That is what people had been asking for.

And then Reaper does a 180, removes the armor, to show maximum boob and gives them contour spandex armor. The very thing i despise in female miniatures but have to deal with anyways because no one wants to make a real woman warrior apparently, and if i want to paint or use a female miniature i have to use what is standard, aka large and unarmored boobs on an otherwise armored female warrior

it just sucks that they decided to go so far away from what they had shown us, from what people had asked for.

I'm not trying to personaly attack you. I could take every big busted woman miniature as a personal attack against my figure, but i don't. I care about the fact they took something that was different, that was unique and new, that was often requested by fans...and turned it into more of the same that 98% of the genre already is.

I didn’t say people had to do one or the other.

It just looks like people want to repeat the same complaint on the forum and that’s it.

if people are so concerned and upset I guess I don’t understand why no one can take a few minutes to organize an email subject like for everyone to use, post it here and in the comments and say “hey we are sending emails voicing concerns”

I agree Guindy. I don't think the malice is warranted.

On a different bones subject,

did anyone else think the giant demon couple would make interesting faun type creatures without the wings?

I’ve tried modding bones in the past and it’s normally pretty comical and never gets finished.

Guindyloo, your reaction is exactly the sort of thing I'm going for. A protest that doesn't offend or inconvenience those who are happy with the status quo will never be effective. You should organize an email campaign to Reaper to complain about our opinions being expressed.

My only complaint about your response is your assertion that we are somehow shaming large breasted women. No one here has attacked large breasted women. I'm not even sure that there are humans that don't love breasts, in all their sizes and shapes. Our complaints have been in the unnecessary expulsion of breasts through and around armor. Cup size is not the issue, it's exposure. Any amount of breast tissue, smooshed behind actual armor, contours to the armor. That is what we asked for, that was what we were offered, and that is not what was presented after they had our money.

[MOD]

While the disappointment on translation from concept art to actual model is on topic, yall are dancing on that line that will get your conversation relocated to Bees into one of the Women's Body threads.

Please stay on topic.

yes, having seen them as they came off the printer, I can see that mod being pretty easy to accomplish.

more so for her, than for him.

I hadn't thought about that conversion as my attempts at modding are also typically pretty comical, but they would be really lovely fauns.

I tried modding a male giant to a female but in involved me stabbing myself and I gave up. I’m hoping filling wing holes is easier

They would make a great pair of nature gods.  Or paint them up in bronze as statues of Satyrs.  I may consider backing them now.  I rarely use Demons/Devils

Well next time try not stabbing yourself and see if that works out better. ::P:

Stabbing self is not recommended in general. I don't think blood makes a good primer. Does it?

Also, lacking wings would potentially be an easy mod, depending on what else is on the back. If it is a tangled mess of hair like my Dark Sword demoness, it would be tough. If it is a shirt or something, much easier.

A DCC RPG boxed setting for Lankhmar, officially licensed by the estate of Fritz Leiber. Adventure with Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser!

There are three basic pledge levels:
The PDF pledge level includes an electronic edition of the final boxed set. (Obviously there will be no box!) This level does not include any physical rewards, add-ons or stretch goals. The boxed set includes the core boxed set as described above. All electronic stretch goals (PDFs) will apply to this level. Some of the physical stretch goals will apply to this level, generally those that fit in the box. The final level includes the boxed set as well as the "print pack." All electronic stretch goals (PDFs) will apply to this level. All of the physical stretch goals will apply, as well. Those that do not fit in the box will be shipped in a separate "print pack." See below for more information on these stretch goals.
      Stretch Goals
DCC Lankhmar continues a long tradition in RPG gaming, and we want to do right by the estate of Fritz Leiber. The stretch goals associated with this Kickstarter will help create an even more amazing tribute to the world of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.
Stretch goals fall into three categories:
PDF stretch goals that all backers receive Print stretch goals that can fit into the boxed set, which will be included with any pledge that has the physical boxed set The "Print Pack," which is a printed collection of the stretch goals which don't fit in the boxed set Here is a rough outline of possible stretch goals, which may evolve as the Kickstarter continues.
At $40,000: Cleared! We will add a new Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $60,000: We will print the poster map larger (included in boxed set)
At $80,000: We will add a second Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $100,000: We will add a supplement called "A Dozen Lankhmar Locations," which will provide information, maps, and floorplans on setting adventures in a dozen famous Lankhmar locales (including the Silver Eel!) (PDF for all backers; print copy in the boxed set)
At $120,000: We will add a third Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $140,000: We will add a supplement called "Random NPCs in Lankhmar," which will provide tables and information for generating random NPCs that your PCs can encounter in Lankhmar (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $160,000: We will add a fourth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $180,000: We will add a Lankhmar-themed three-panel Judges Screen (PDF for all backers; print copy in the boxed set)
At $200,000: We will add a fifth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $220,000: We will add a cloth map in the boxed set (print copy in the boxed set)
At $240,000: We will add a sixth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $250,000: We will add send Michael Curtis to Houston for a week to research the Fritz Leiber archives in the University of Houston. We anticipate this may result in a new product of some kind to be delivered to backers of this Kickstarter, but exactly what we'll discover in the archives - and what product may result from it - can't be determined until Michael sets foot in the archives!

      About this project
Code Zero is a 32mm miniatures skirmish game set in a futuristic alternate universe. Players take control of a small squad of troops, broken up into fireteams, competing with each other to achieve one or several objectives and complete their mission. These combat situations usually take place within a theater of war, on the borders along the core worlds of various factions. These dangerous worlds and systems which are on the outskirts of secured core sectors are known as Code Zero's. The owners of the territories tend to change hands monthly since many of them are inhabited by second class citizens, those trying to survive and make a living in harsh future.
Code Zero is designed to create a cinematic feel of gameplay, while reflecting the dynamic ebb and flow of the battle that can happen within any given engagement. We do this by utilizing an action/reaction system, allowing both players to interact in a method keeping everyone engrossed with the battle. Utilizing alternate activations along with a different method to resolve reactions this can create some unique situations
The first of our miniatures for this universe are digitally sculpted, 3d printed and cast in high quality resin.

This looks like it could be fun. Pre-painted minis with an odd choice for scale, 65 to 85mm. The early samples do look good though:
