Day 7 Infobits Summary part 2:

Quote

Actual Votes on the spread sheet matter FAR LESS to us than whether the community seems excited by, and has conversations about, something

Quote

@Mini Addict - there will be new paint later in the campaign.

Quote

The chatter is absolutely what matters. One guy repeats himself 1000 times that he wants a thing, that's a lone voice. Commenters spend ten minutes discussing all the ideas they have for a cool Other Thing, or two they would use Other Thing in their games, that matters. Votes are gamable. But watching all of you get very excited about a thing, well, it's hard to fake enthusiasm among strangers

-

And while I'm mentioning how we decide which fan suggestions get used remember there's 2 kinds. One we already had waiting, and we just sort of make those higher priority. And the other, well, that's where fan enthusiasm comes in. A backer spamming their list means not only do we ignore it, but so does everyone else. endless actual conversations about how cool X Y or Z would be, with multiple participants, that's harder to ignore.

-

If y'all have a killer idea, we will absolutely drop something from the 80% to make it happen.

-

The reality of the selection process is that we spend an hour a day in meetings moving the 80% around, changing maybes to yes's or no's, and filling in gaps. Call the sculptors and see if any of them are excited as you/we. If somebody bites, WIN. If not, back to the drawing board. Because if there's one thing we know, a sculptor that thinks a model is a dumb idea will always do a mediocre job, but they really work great when they're excited.

-

another thing to consider is that sometimes we dump weaker ideas from Expansions or Core groups - like maybe we had 4 models on a goal, and we drop 2 of them for the cool New Idea or similar.

Quote

@Johan Cardell - the goblins are not all by the same sculptor. Many groups have their preferred vision of Goblins, and we try to represent as many possible variations. Each Set of Goblins are by the same sculptor, to provide some internal consistency, but we don't have a mandated set of guidelines for goblins, kobolds, etc.

Quote

The comment about "mandated goblins" implies that there's someone out there with a goblin documentation standard.

-

@Cyrus - well, as an example, Paizo has a list of characteristics we must include on any original sculpt of a licensed goblin figure. Their visual style is well defined, and recognizable.

Day 7 Infobits Summary part 3:

Quote

What terrain are you guys working on this time around?

-

@DM Nate - funny you should ask. We've got some really fun things planned.

Did I say Terrain? I mean. Um. There might be some . Confirm and deny!

Quote

Since most of the sculpting is done via digital means now, does that mean it is much easier to scale a mini up or down in size between concept and final mold making?

-

@Kyle - yes. While for humans and humanoids we know what we want, for other things that *could* be anything, we sometimes print at 2-3 sizes to see what "feels" correct.

Quote

@zombie painter - all of them [the adventuring party] except Arnise are available in Bones already. Arnise was too busy killing stuff to pose for a mold, but I'm assured she's on her way

-----

We're not adding the set to the Core Set graphic itself until pretty much the end. For now, the Small World Heroes will be tracked on a separate image, and we'll combine them at the end, so we can keep the set together.

Quote

@brisingre - we are still licensed with Monte Cook Games to produce Numenera miniatures

[note from OneBoot: this is not saying that Numenera models will show up in this Kickstarter]

Quote

is "Small World Heroes" actually a thing...or is this just the name ur giving to these particular chibi minis?

-

@Clint Walker - many years ago, our Casketworks catalogs contained a comic featuring these and other heroes, called Small World. This was the impetus behind the comic in their campaign, and as such, the name of these heroes' level

Day 7 Infobits Summary part 4 (last one for Day 7):

Quote

A suggestion is NOT a guarantee of inclusion. But for the places where I have discretion over what gets chosen, I will choose MY preferences if you don't tell me yours. Given that, I want to see backers having actual conversations about what they want; Show me how excited you are, and prove to me that I can market the thing after the project ends, and I will do my part

Quote

I only just today noticed the cart and pig are separate (right?!)

-

@Joe - yes, they are separate.

Quote

can you make available as an add-on a beginer's Paint set with 3 minis, brushes and paints in a case?

-

@Jardanes - we do not have the production capacity to produce the potential volumes that such a set would generate via this project. It would be irresponsible of us to offer them, as we can guarantee it would lead to plural years of delays.

Quote

So I figure all the small world adventures will be unlocked with social media things right? If so is it only going to be facebook or branch into other things and will the number of shares needed go up?

-

@Twirdman - yes. They will all be Facebook, because it's the largest director of traffic already, so it's the most sensible place for us to direct our marketing efforts. Shares will be a number that is more reasonable given the baseline we know know exists

Quote

So do all these minis come with bases?

-

@Chris Holodnak - integral bases

Day 8 Infobits Summary part 1:

Quote

Every project experiences a rush in the first few days, and last few days, and generally a slow, but comfortable, maintainable pace between, with occasional spikes. We are definitely in the "slow growth" phase

Quote

For those interested in charts and graphs, we offer this comparison of the funding of all 4 Bones projects so far, Bones 4 shown in Green. http://reapermini.com/misc/KS_compare_day7.jpg

Quote

Gene VanHorne was the sculptor [of the Spartan statues]

-----

uncensored reference pictures can be found at https://ks.reapermini.com/bones4

Quote

Haven't the Core sets always included the "main characters" of the Kickstarters plus a Kickstarter Sophie?

-

@Aryanun - mayyyyyyyyyyyybe

Quote

woo amazing 24 hours between reveals.

-

@Anonymous- like our goal seems to be 1 SG per calendar day for the slow period.

Quote

While I do not normally make a habit of confirmations and denials, I think I can make an exception here. Our current Paizo licenses for unpainted figures in plastic and metal do not at this time extend into, cover, or include the Starfinder property.

Quote

we do not offer variations of the Core Set.

Quote

CAV: Strike Operations is a game done by another company, we helped them to get into Bones Plastic for their models, but none of those models are or will be a part of this project. CAV has had 2 successful kickstarters of their own, should you be interested in following that creator for future projects

-----

@Anonymous, Chronoscope includes 2 infantry characters based off art we created when we owned the CAV property. We retain the rights to the 28mm scale infantry figures. That is not the same as there being CAV in this project

Day 8 Infobits Summary part 2 (last one for Day 8):

Quote

for ease of reference, do you think the Expansion minis could also be numbered for ease of reference?

-

@David - in good time, they will be.

Quote

Ron has said he does not want to Pie me in the face. Cheryl is willing, but I need to find a volunteer.

Quote

@Yibean - we have about 40 employees.

Quote

I have little patience with people claiming we confirmed anything we did not confirm, lest followers who do not understand it is in jest. After getting roasted for failure to produce a model which WE never promised but a backer joked that we had, we are sensitive to this.

Quote

Trust me, the sculptors lurk. Several of them read the comments as much as I do.

Quote

What happened to Corim 77415

-

@Anonymous - nose didn't fill well. We're having the mold recut

Quote

I hope there is a 4th part to the Chronoscope Expansion

-

@Zombie Painter - there is no part 4. If it helps you're not buying any single part, it's kind of a package deal, so either it's a good value or it isn't

-----

@Ravendas - well, the good part is it's not split into thirds. It's all one box.

Quote

1. how long did it take to print baba yaga (if she's a print), and 2. wth is that egyptian stove thingy?

-

@Wax - it was printed in many parts over several days. also, that's a torture device that also is a D&D monster, it's an oven that you put people in, or alternately a monster that eats you and cooks you

-----

The Egyptian Oven thingy is called a Tophet.

Quote

We make the final decision what is going in a level. We solicit input. We try to include useful and fun things. And you obviously vote with pledge dollars. But, no it's not a democratic process. We make the decisions we make for business reasons, which often means "boring" items that also happen to be stable, consistent sellers with broad market appeal, but no "flash" that amen them appeal in a project like this.

Day 9 Infobits Summary part 1:

Quote

Kickstarter will take the full amount of your pledge at 6PM on September 2 (That's 6PM Central Time). You can add additional funds via the pledge manager after that from around Sept 20 to July 31, 2018, paying each time you add new items to your orders

Quote

just curious -- why end / start the campaign at 6PM?

-

because there's a ridiculous amount of this we have to do in the hours after project close, and After 32 days of this staying up until 2 am to organize it all is not going to happen. Additionally, when we analyze hourly funding records across previous projects, there is a noticeable decline in pledges from 6pm to 7pm, and a small upswing 7 to 8, but to gain the most momentum, 6pm is mathematically optimum

-----

I mean, our CEO and CFO, the founders of the company back in 1992, are both CPAs, so they go crazy crunching statistics and hours and dollars and days and it's really interesting to watch them compute these things.

Quote

i'm really wondering the details on: "Additional charges might/will apply if you change or add items to your pledge." What does that mean exactly?

-

@Matt - Basically, all it means as that we might have to increase the amount we charge for shipping as you add more stuff to your box (and therefore make it heavier).

Quote

we've calculated a more realistic time frame for delivery based on our experiences, we're changing our shipping policies, and we've streamlined some of the moldmaking processes

Quote

we implemented Waves because people wanted a way to estimate the specific ship time of their rewards. It's no better than a day or two per wave, but it seems to be something people like.

Quote

There's Flashy coming. We're not scrambling to change plans, because this slowdown is normal and expected.

-----

@Ben Warrick - losing backers during the doldrums isn't uncommon. They get disappointed by the slow burn, and leave in a huff because we're not flashy enough. Given that we want a stable product range, we accept it.

we are releasing Bones 3 to retail at a rate of 25 models/SKUs per month. It will be some time before all of them are available

Quote

http://imgur.com/gallery/hHKoL These are fan photos, but these are models we teased at ReaperCon

-----

@John free - this is just a fan's ReaperCon photo gallery and is not necessarily intended that all images are intended as hints. They just liked my display

Quote

We will not be adding Bones 1-3 product as optional rewards.

Quote

So that Zombie dragon isn't really that big then?

-

@Paul Berry - It's about Kyphrixis sized.

Quote

Is there a [Sophie] to still be unlocked with this campaign?

-

@Daniel Skidmore - yes, yet to be revealed.

Quote

I'm not sure Reaper talks much about details of sales, but clearly the Chronoscope line sells well enoug for them to have it and bring it over to Bones.

-

Yeah, we generally do not discuss relative data, but I can say it sells in the top 1/3 of product ranges

Day 9 Infobits Summary part 3 (last one for Day 9):

Quote

Just wanted to ask if the men-at-Arms are still going to have swappable arms and heads?

-

@Baphomet - yes the men at arms are planned to have swappable parts. And there's another new feature we're going to reveal....

Quote

have you considered a kickstarter live event?

-

@Peter Cruickshanks - We are considering the best ways to use that feature.

Quote

So new expansion soon?

-

@Ryan - this week, very likely

Quote

We need more addons to get those pledges climbing again!

-

@Peter - we also have to balance adding int things to the core, because that adds value and entices pledgers.

Quote

I noticed the dragon turtle's treasure base Is no longer included in the picture of the add-ons. Has the base been removed?

-

@Sean Connery - No, it's still offered. It is shown in the PM

Quote

Superheroes are hard, as we must produce generic heroes, and players like themes.

Quote

If you do share this campaign on Twitter, be sure to include us in the tweet - @reapermini. We'll promote your tweet ;)

Quote

yes, Savage Worlds is a licensed property

Day 10 Infobits Summary part 1:

Quote

@reaper you said optional vultures. Optional as in you won't need to glue them if you don't want to, or as in an additional addon, seperate from the tree?

-

@Nethear = optional as in you do not need to add them to the tree. They are included with the Tree, but the tree has no sockets, and the vultures no pegs, so leaving them off is ok

Quote

Purchase Options for the Spartan Statues. Wish that they came individually as Stone or Smooth texture

-

@Josh - They will be sold separately at retail.

Quote

the statues are both 1" in area and height, and are swappable between the two kinds. But the males are on square topped columns and the females are on rounds. Either fits either set.

Quote

How sure are we that EU friendly shipping will still be EU friendly shipping 18+ months from now, if the forwarding hub is in the UK?

-

@lord blackfang - that's a hard question. Do you know what the agreements out of parliament will look like? Neither do we. So we're doing the best guesses we can. With any luck the project will fulfill before March 2019 when the Brexit actually happens. In the meantime, nobody knows. How sure are we? As sure as is possible to be when the laws literally have not yet been written.

-----

As far as prediction the laws surrounding Brexit, we cannot even predict whether or not we'll be at war with N. Korea before the end of the year. If you worry that Brexit will ruin your ability to ship and receive goods duty-free from EU nations, then A) don't back or b) vote to rejoin the EU at the first available opportunity

Quote

Reaper is an apolitical organization whose employees run the gamut along the US political spectrum. I do my best to remain politically neutral when I am mouth piecing, but we all agree that sexualization of the human form, male or female, is only valid in specific and limited contexts, and we work to make sure that our (female) concept artists, (male and female) sculptors, and (male and female) casters and packagers will all be comfortable with their work. This means making sure that sensuality is not gratuitous, even if the forms are idealized (as they often are)

-----

We appreciate that sexuality and objectification of women is a HUGE and important issue. We appreciate that many people are sensitive to it to very different degrees. We believe that this platform - specifically the kickstarter comments - is not the appropriate place in which to engage in a debate that will alter anyone's minds, and ask that we please allow those who have opinions to speak without turning it into a war. It is not necessary to engage hostile posters.

Quote

@Reaper any idea if the vultures and victims will be available separately in retail?

-

@David Brawley - at this time, I do not know. Some of that depends on whether they are on the same mold, and therefore must be manufactured simultaneously

Day 10 Infobits Summary part 2:

Quote

that is the Statue of Set that i am begging and begging for.... it was indeed for CROM which failed twice... but who knows

-

@Elli - the one in the 3rd picture down here:

http://imgur.com/gallery/hHKoL ?

-----

@Elli - I can confirm that the statue of Set shown in that picture is on the list of possible rewards, if we can unlock enough to uncover it.

Quote

Does the cultist come with the base then?

-

@Nethear - yes, the cultists is removable.

Quote

has anyone in the office painted up the Zombie Dragon yet?

-

@Bojesphob - Not that I have seen, but those images would go through the art director and not me.

Quote

We are experiencing growth of $20,000-$40,000 per day, which is reasonable and expected

Quote

Bones 3 *also* experienced one unlocked every 30-40 hours, typically 1 per calendar day with some exceptions, just as this project has been.

Quote

NONE of the pledge levels EVER mandate that you select any specific rewards. None of them say *inlcudes a core set* or similar, only that $100 is enough to get one. Yes, you can allocate that $100 any way you like in the pm

Quote

when the conversations in the comments are mean spirited and argumentative, Pledges NOTICEABLY drop.

Quote

@reaper will the giant Cobra statute still be transparent? and will he come off the base?

Day 10 Infobits Summary part 3:

Quote

we *try* to make Options either large models, or models we expect to have less-than-universal appeal. Unpopular options can be overlooked, popular Core Adds seem to incite riots.

Quote

the economies of scale with manufacturing aren't linear. For example, swapping out a mold to add a new mold takes roughly an hour. that's for every change. So it's beneficial to run as many of Mold A as possible at once, because you can bill that hour amortized across more models and make each mini cheaper. Also, the machine's uptime is longer if it's pressing, and not cooling while waiting for a model swap, so your labor, while "busy" is also productive and making you more money while they're pressing.

Quote

@Reaper what is the cure time on a single injection in a mould, out of curiosity?

-

@Sir Matthew - depends greatly on the piece. Larger pieces require longer cycle times, but the *average* cycle time is 27 seconds.

Cycle Time being defined as time from any point in the cycle to the same point again on the next Press

Quote

The moulds from Bones3 for the weapon sprues seem to be the same size. Does this correspond to the max square area you talked about of how you decide what gets moulded etc into cavities. Or are sprues completely different because they're "flat" compared to even a medium human-sized mini

-

@Anonymous- they do not represent the largest possible size, but they do represent roughly the largest surface area we can cast in house. The reality is, of course, far more complex than this very simple answer, and, ultimately, I am not a mould engineer.
https://www.reapermini.com/misc/injection-molding-animation.gif is a great visual of the process, BTW

-----

Thomas, at 80 tons, is a wee little baby. Machines exist that can do much much larger platens than we can. We would like, eventually, to be able to do 120 tons. Thomas, at 80 tons, has a maximum squeeze of 3oz. so surface area limitations aside, he can do a cavity fill of not more than 3oz volume.

-----

80 Tons (American, not Metric) is the amount of back pressure Thomas can apply upon injection, not his weight

Quote

We will add more monsters that aren't carnivorous trees.

Quote

The next expansion is a fantasy expansion, but it's not standard. We're exploring some themes.

-----

it's kind of dark fantasy, with stuff that we've seen in our metal lines, but also some new stuff.

Quote

When will we see the next expansion?

-

Icarus, Before Monday.

Quote

So Ron was showing me the graphic for the next expansion when we get there.. OMG! You guys need to pledge more! I'm telling you... ;-) ~Matt

Day 10 Infobits Summary part 4 (last one for Day 10):

any plans to do more "learn to paint kits" ?

-

@Dave Typo - yes, but not as part of this kickstarter.

Quote

but do we have an idea on who the mail carrier that Reaper uses for USA shipments usually is?

-

@Sean Ritner - USPS or UPS are both options

[note from OneBoot: I believe this is referring to Reaper's typical orders, not specifically this Kickstarter. @Reaperbryan can you confirm?]

Quote

Will there be any official Paizo Minis this Kickstarter?

-

@Christopher Gerlach - we have a few to be revealed.

Quote

we tried shots like a newscast, behind a desk, but you couldn't see the minis clearly. SO, hands.

-----

Ron has the prettiest hands. Mine are always jealous.

Quote

Do y'all think Ron and I should do a Live event, with models around us and y'all ask and we show and tell?

-----

Kickstarter host live events so ALL backers could (theoretically) participate

-----

we have to reach non-facebookers, too. It's complicated

-----

Alright, if there's fan interest, then this should be a thing we do.

Quote

do you have a rough prediction on how many miniatures will be in the core set based on how funding is trending?

-

@Rattasak - we tend not to share predictions lest they become self fulfilling prophecies.

-----

@Dan - because if we "predict" a ludicrous number hoping to "trick" the audience into a self fulfilling prophecy, we look like buffoons if we fail

Day 11 Infobits Summary part 1:

Quote

all Bones part numbers 77001-77029 are Pre-Bones 1

-----

77030 is the oldest Bones1 model

Quote

we usually do not make overtures into licensing, although it has happened. Our core business is strong enough that licenses are, to use an american idiiom, "just gravy" so we have no need to pursue them unless one of the owners is very passionate. Sadly, while *I* am super passionate, I am the junior most owner, with little real power other than my single vote.

Quote

is it an uninteresting avenue because of the cost, paperwork, legalities or other issues that you hesitate to pursue licensing?

-

depends on who you ask! For me the legalities are the worst part, but I believe for the accountants its the additional headache of filing sales reports with an outsider, and for the art director it's the fiddliness of learning wha they will and will not approve in terms of aesthetics. Rendering a 2-d image in 3-d has intricacies that most people don't think about, and sometimes that's really the hard part, getting their 3-d "image" to both look right and be reproducible (minimum piece diameters, structural concerns, etc.

Quote

We will be exploring new themes with our expansions. I can't reveal them though

Quote

Honestly we're very happy with the trends, even given the lackluster reception of the recent goals. And we have much flashier goals coming very soon.

Quote

There's actually a lot that goes on behind the scenes making sure each graphic is correct. Every graphic with multiple versions.

Actually discovered this morning that due to a typo the next reveal had the wrong goal target, by rather a LOT, so I've been scrambling to make sure it was only typo'ed in one place...

Quote

Did you bring up facebook live and kickstarter live at today's meeting??

-

@Anonymous- yes. And it was well received. Planning has begun, details will be announced later.

Quote

What's the scale on the chibi guys? Would the be an appropriate size for something like Super Dungeon Explore?

@Francis Tommaso - yes, SDE would be roughly correct

Day 11 Infobits Summary part 2:

Quote

I laughed at the pics that were released early that told us that the statues were for an unrelated Conan Project

-

@Kevin - they were for a Conan project, CROM, but that project failed to make muster, and the rights reverted back to us. Having paid to make them we figured we could use them here.

Quote

Is the voting spreadsheet actually looked at by Reaper, or is this just to keep our hype engines engaged?

-

@Jesse - I have never looked at it. What is *far* more important to me is community enthusiasm for an idea. If someone says "mimics" (to use an example that got a lot of traction early on) and the community spends 30 minutes bouncing around campaign ideas, encounter ideas, model ideas, then we take note of *that* engagement.

Quote

In previous KS did they also do packs of large, huge, and gargantuan bases?

-

@Carl - we only did up to 3", but with so many very large items planned, we're going to be looking very closely at the needs for larger sizes.

-----

Quote

I would very much like to have an 18- 20mm version of the RPG base.

-

@Royal - I know we make a 20mm round and a 20mm square.

-----

The smallest we currently make is 20mm.

Quote

we designed our bases without [internal braces] so they could be inverted, and filled with basing materials, and still look like the other bases in your collection. Fill them with gravel, resin, water effects, sand, or putty that is textured to match your other models.

Quote

future Surprise reveals include other sizes of bases, more paints, and maybe even more...

Quote

our previous two projects had an 18 and 20 month fulfillment time, respectively. We believe 18 months to be a realistic and informed estimate. As always, there are many variables that go into manufacturing on a scale of these projects. Should we fail to break $1,000,000, we would probably be able to fulfill much sooner; should we raise over $3,000,000 (as we have done twice before) we could even have underestimated!

Quote

each wave takes about 8-10 hours, sometimes less. The first wave takes longer, because we're training our crew, but thereafter, it accelerates rapidly. For Bones 3, Wave 1 took 3 days, but Wave 6 took less than a full day.

Quote

When you add to your pledge, we will recalculate your total, combined shipping, as if everything was in one box. You will pay only the difference between the old value and the new value. So there will likely be some small increase each time, but not like adding a whole new box.

Day 11 Infobits Summary part 3:

Quote

If a person can only pay a certain amount during the project funding period but wants to add while the pledge manager is open, that is possible. I get that. But will the prices be the same, or will there be a "bump" in pricing since it is post-KS? And if there is a price bump, can anyone give me an idea of what the bump could be?

-

@Paint Monk - No bump for any backer with any pledge. Although backers who do not have any pledge at all and join *exclusively* using the PM system will note a ~10-20% price bump.

-----

Basically, Paint Monk, because you have a pledge now (and when the project ends), no matter how many orders you place, you will always see the prices given HERE. If you do not, it is because your pledge email and your PM Login email didn't match, so we didn't know that you were "you"

Quote

it'll be interesting to learn how popular the statues are

-

@Bone Thrall - at present, they're *not* the least popular item offered.

-----

@Joe - we will sometimes talk in terms like "these 3 items were all in the top 5" or "these were in the bottom 5" but we do not normally release the top 5 in order, or anything like that.

we usually include some aquatic elements. I think they're common, but not dominant.

I assume the victim is "forscale" size [referring to the victim hanging from the Tree of Despair]\

-

@M. Stegenga - yeah, the victim is in scale with our other humans

are the knights sculpted by the person that did b3s crusaders

-

@Limey72 - the Crusaders from B3 were sculpted by Bobby Jackson; the knights from B4 were *almost * sculpted by Bobby, but he didn't have the time. Tim Hill sculpted the knights instead [answered by Ron]

Is the tree of despair going to be part of an expansion or all by itself?

-

@TheOriginalAlan - it's going to be a standalone Option.

This poor guy was on my shelf of shame for quite a while.  A friend requested that I finish him up so that he could use it in a game, so I got him to a satisfactory tabletop level last night.  Not my greatest work by far, but I like him.

I felt like painting these guys, so I did. No store link yet, they are the bones version of these though.

      About this project
In this third Frills & Fauna installment, we delve into the darker side of the Stargrind universe. The Overlords Kickstarter looks at one of the species in the galaxy that subdue others.  Overlords
Behind every thrall is a master. A major antagonist in Stargrind is the Overlords. A wholly alien species best described as floating brains. Physically, the overlords are quite weak, as they have evolved to interact with the physical realm using their minds. Powerful with both telepathy and telekinesis, the overlords can control everything (and almost everyone) around them with a simple thought.
These models will involve two sets of components: bodies and tentacles. Different sets of tentacles may become available though stretch-goals to mix and match with the bodies. The number of "slots" on each body for attaching appendages is referred to as "soft points."
Being cast in resin means they are very easily manipulated into different poses by placing them into hot water.
        Classes of Overlords
      Drone
The most commonly spotted Overlord has been labelled the drone. Drones are slightly armoured in comparison to other classes of overlord, lending to their common presence on the battlefield where they are most vulnerable.
The drone has 6 soft points.
      Watcher
Named for its assumed purpose of being a scout, as it lurks the battlefields and rarely engages. Its single eye beholds locations and movements of creatures, communicating back to the overlords' hivemind. Unlike the drone, its eye is exposed for greater vision, but more susceptible to damage.
The watcher has 8 soft points.
      Reaper
If the overlords can't initially control a species, the reapers emerge to consume brain matter and learn the secrets of its biology. Equipped to tackle specimens still living, the reapers entangle their foes with tentacles before feasting on the head.
The Reaper has 8 soft points.
       Infiltrator
The infiltrators carry large egg-like spores on their bodies, which they disperse in secluded areas that are rich with organic material. This appears to be their only purpose, as their flaccid husks are abandoned with their deposits, perhaps to catalyze the growth process.
The watcher has no soft points.
      Matriarch
Meet the Matriarch! It's uncertain whether the matriarch is a mature version of the infiltrator, or a seperate class altogether, but she also bears overlord spores. Perhaps since infiltrators expire upon plantation, this class of overlord is indeed an alternative path, growing larger and more dominant rather than concluding in sacrifice.   The matriarch has 12 soft points. Sporeling
Once an invader (or better) transplants its cargo of spores (chlamydospore) onto biomass, the spores begin to absorb the biomatter and grow. Some take on traits of their "food." Once they complete germination, the spores detach from the husk and float around until they either form self awareness, link into the hivemind of a mature overlord or fall prey to something else. Adolescent
As sporelings grow, their embryonic roots retract, wither and harden. Often mistaken for horns or teeth, these scabby protrusions are reborn as tentacles or other feeler/manipulator devices. Scale shots

In an effort to reduce confusion by people seeking information and asking on topic questions, we are creating two threads for our Bones 4 Kickstarter.
This is the thread for conversations, enthusiasm, and commentary.
This thread will be lightly moderated to ensure forum rules are followed and specific questions may be relocated to the Official Information thread.
