I've decided on the figures I'm using for this project now too, they changed since last time. I want to enter it into this year's Reapercon Diorama category (of course) and I want it to qualify for Bombshell Babes diorama, so I'm picking out 5 babes to battle the keeper (RBG) and his summoned demon (reaper glabrezu): 1) Celeste - Sorceress/wizard, 2) Khai the Huntress - ranger, going to weapon swap her to give her a bow, 3) Thorga Half Orc - Barbarian, Astrid Thunderhammer - Cleric, and Sister Vasha Fane - Paladin.

This piece will be 2 stories tall, it will have a lot of details and a lot of action, with a summoning circle that the Glabrezu is inside of at the time the heroines come rushing into the Keeper's Sanctum.

The badelf adventuring party!

Whoa! Very interesting choice of babes. It should be fun to see Khai, Thorga & Astrid all fighting on the same team. Those are some of my favorites from Bombshell. It would be cool if some of them had a few wounds from the wolf demon, and if wolfy had a few injuries from them. Like if they were in the middle of the battle. But that's just a random thought. I'm confident your ideas will be way cooler than anything I could paint up. Can't wait to see this one!

I'm going to sketch it out more this week and get it figured out how I want to position everything, but I will make it 2-stories tall. In my mind's eye, I see a sweeping staircase leading up to the first floor and the main action taking place in the basement arcane workshop of the Keeper.

Very cool idea!  Looking forward to it coming together!

Thanks, guys!

I'm looking forward to building it. Should be a fun adventure.

Tonight, I plan on getting everything primed with the airbrush after assembling and gap filling takes place. Then I'll let everything cure and start the sketching and building of the base itself.

Me being me, I can't leave things alone!

I must always customize at least one figure in a piece I'm doing... This project is no different.

I am doing the following:

  • Sister Vasha, the Paladin -
    • Swapping out weapon and shield
    • Changing her handedness - putting weapon in left hand utilizing a wicked looking curved blade and a really cool and decorated shield in her right hand.
  • Khai the huntress, the Ranger -
    • I'm not putting her tail on, rather I'm adding a sword in a scabbard where the tail would mount.
    • Removing the dagger from her left hand, putting an arrow there instead.
    • Removing the spear from her right hand and putting a bow there instead
    • Putting a quiver on her hip.

That's what is going on tonight (at the very least)!

Vasha is nearly done, a tiny bit of filling some gaps and re-inforcing the joints and then I'll be able to wash her off and then prime her up.

In case you are curious, this is the original sword and shield which I felt were a tad too plain -

Spoiler

5993a59b6f5e5_Vashaoriginal1.jpg.1ee5ced52357aab891ed3533bd280669.jpg5993a59bd5611_Vashaoriginal2.jpg.972af69b605b1f33f7756173131d6277.jpg

You can see I used a very tiny pin for her hands/wrists and I utilized superglue and accelerant so that I could make sure of a strong tight bond that bonded quickly without holding it in place forever. The right hand originally held a wand from some sort of wizard or sorcerer I'd guess. The sword already had a left hand on it so I just pinned that in place in an action pose. The shield was probably from the melt bin at last ReaperCon, I picked up a lot of loose weapons/shield/bits to use in my pieces as I really like to customize if possible.

Khaki the Huntress from Bombshell Miniatures  is undergoing modifications! I have clipped her left handed dagger off, drilled a hole in her hand where the dagger haft was, found a bow in my bits box and cut that in half (snipping off a tad bit of its handle) and drilled holes in either end. Next, I'm going to cut the pin in her hand to size and attach both sides of the bow to it to make it look like that's her true weapon.

Her right hand has a pole arm in it, I'm going to remove that and try to put an arrow there instead. I may have to make the arrow though as I haven't found something in my bits box yet... or steal it from another figure in my collection.

ETA: Stock images of Khai the Huntress so you can all see the extensive modifications that I'm doing do her with regards to weapons, adding quivers, removing tail, and adding sword/sheath.

Khai the Huntress, now a true ranger! I realized after looking at a lot of my other rangers/archers that not very many had actual arrows in hand. Most are reaching back for an arrow as if they are getting ready to fire a shot. So I took a page out of that book and added the quiver to her waist at her back, repositioned her right arm and drilled out the pole arm she was holding.

What do you all think? Nice conversion?

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the modification.

The paladin looks a lot better in person than in these pics and I applied some green stuff to fill the tiny gap at her wrist and to fill the space from hand to shield.

Didn’t really turn out as well as I hoped, my lack of skill and weak facial features didn’t help. Might revisit at some point. They can’t all be winner!

Finally , closing that project..was fun and learn quite a bit doing it.

Been working on this project for some time now, and hoping to get it done for a local competition in september.
Still a lot to do, but I'm mostly happy with what I have made so far..
I bought a bits-box with loads of Wahammer bits, and decided to try and sculpt a bigger tyranid out those bits, as a maine character for the scene. I find the sculpting as fun as the painting..and well, the Warhammer stuff seems rather expensive.
I know nothing of the Warhammer 40K world, so it also been fun reading and researching for stuff.

This will be a scene in the Wahmmaer 40K world. Three tau XV25's and one drone (not pictured) are behind enemy lines, and attack some sort of Tyranid base..

First two pictures a finished minis, A Tau XV25 (its a battle-suit with a 'tau-person' inside), and a small tyranid.

Next is the big tyranid, grey stuff is from the bits box, light-brown is Fimo sculpting clay and green is green-stuff. It is mostly done, but need a bit of grinding a maybe a few more details. The tail is going to end into next picture, where the tau is in big trouble (or is he?). The tau is painted, but the tail is just sculpted and a few strokes of priming.
The part where the tail is shot to pieces is made of small pieces of fishing line, white-glue and sculpting paste. I glued the fishing line more or less randomly in place with super-glue-gel, super glue to hold the two pieces of tail in place. Covered everything with water thinned white-glue. put on some blobs af sculpting paste and covered everything in water-thinned white glue again.

Last pictures is the base, mostly just primed. The tau's are attacking from the left side of the first picture, and the small tyranid will be lurking in the cave.

Feel free to suggest, critiq and comment on anything, thanks for looking.

I have been kicking around an idea of combining #50188 Sleeping Beauty and #03600 Praying Paladin in a mini diorama.. I have even gotten so far as to open their blisters and prime the paladin..
Then, tonight, I had an Idea!  See, last year when my kids and I were playing Frostgrave, I backed a kickstarter for some resin scenery .  As per usual, however, by the time the scenery arrived, they had lost interest in Frostgrave.
Combined with some iffy casts, I had put the box off to the side under my desk and forgotten about it..  until tonight, that is..

What we now see here was billed as a watchtower hill, but looks like a potential mausoleum..

Add a saddled horse, maybe a couple of other party members, and "Bob's your uncle!"

I'm going to need to invest in some green stuff to clean up the cast for the 'table' top where the pillars connect as they're way off at the moment..

Alternatively, I have a 'ruined palace' that might work as well..

The second won't need as much cleanup or modification to work, also leaving the watchtower for a dragon or something to perch on at some point as well..

      decisions, decisions..

Here my latest work. I keep trying and trying with black: highliting black. I tried with blue for a while till I was quite happy with it, and now I’m trying with grey which is more difficult... it does show here, since it completely reads as grey skin but oh well, it’s still a job I’m happy with.
That’s Be’lakor, one of the finest demon figures ever made by any manufacturer. First chaos everchosen, first mortal to ascend to demonhood, blessed and cursed, the lord of the dark...
