Bones 3 Beauty Pageant -- Discussion

18 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

Once upon a time, on an internet site far far away, there was an event known as the Brettonian sorceress beauty contest. You can still find old etchings and references to this event, in which sorceresses from all over the land competed for the title of Most Beautiful.

I believe it is time for another Reaper Bones pageant event. Are there sufficient interested parties to participate? If so, will their guardians please speak up.

The challenge is for everyone to paint the same figure. Ballots are cast and the most popular contestant wins the applause and admiration of their peers.  This is a friendly low-stress event.

As an example, for you newcomers, this is a link to the entries thread from the first pageant in 2013.

First we need to decide what to paint.  This is the list of recently released Bones 3 figures. Everyone should be able to find these in local stores, online, or in their rewards box.

I'd be down to try this after my recent house move......I have never painted and publicly displayed any of my work before, so this should be "interesting"

My vote is for the following:   77405: Aeris, Female Elf Ranger by Julie Guthrie

77412: Lendil Blackroot, Wizard by Julie Guthrie

77423: Sir Malcolm, Templar Lightbringer by Bobby Jackson

Also: Bones only?  Or can we paint the metal one as long as it's the same sculpt?

I think it was Bones only last time, but if folks want to allow metal versions we can do that.

Also, conversions and modifications will be allowed. The idea is for you to have fun and be creative and show your interpretation of the figure.

Ok, we have 5 votes for Margara, so I declare her the Chosen One for this round. Balthon came in 2nd with 4 votes, so we will do him next time.

Paint your Margaras and post them to the entries thread.

How strict is the requirement that it be bones? I've almost finished painting my bones Margara, but I have 2 in metal that still need paint.

Not very.  The idea is to encourage people to paint their Bones, but if what you've got is the metal version I'm not going to send the brute squad to your house. :)

And your Bones Margara would count. It doesn't matter if you started painting before the challenge began.
