"The 'Bot Shop" Bombshell Miniatures Diorama

Recommended Posts

Cool idea, and I like how it's coming along, including the two toned bot.

For the bricks maybe a faded whitewash, you know standard red bricks showing through mostly worn off white paint.

Thanks! I was thinking red bricks as well but I do like the faded whitewash idea. They originally supposed to be cinder blocks but they came out of the mold a little too irregular for that.

Shop sign, yay or nay? Suggestions are welcome, only thing that I am attached to is the letters with rods.

I'd need to see the scale compared to the building and bots themselves.

I actually like it

You might want to make the words on the right a fraction larger though

Alright just for you, here is the mock up. The summons thing is a stand in for Maelee, it is about her height and is placed where she will be. All the bots are smaller than it and I can't really place them as they are pinned right now. Also while I will paint them all, not all may make it into the scene.

Sadly, they are brass etch letters and I don't have anything bigger that would still fit in the space. I am not 100% sold on them yet, so removing them would be an option. I am considering hand righting them instead, almost like she salvaged the bigger, fancier part and made her own sign.

Maybe have the sign look more beat up? Like one of the letters missing or a couple askew or hanging off.

Edit: or have a missing letter painted  in like she couldn't find a letter and hasn't had time to make one.

The sign (or letters) looking beat up, rusted up, and hanging askew would look great IMO as well.

Having a hard time getting started back up on my keeper's sanctum diorama... I think I need to purposely take a break from it and work on some other stuff to get my creative juices flowing again. I have this idea in my head for a 75mm diorama featuring black sun miniatures' "Barbarian and the Lost Princess" (Conan) vs SC75's "Brock the Wanderer"

I'm thinking in this piece that it will have Conan carrying the princess through a dungeon type setting and then Brock standing there in front of a doorway. I'm going to really pull from artwork that I admire in regards to barbarians such as Frazetta and Patrick J. Jones.

Right now I'm cleaning off the flash and mold lines, as soon as I do that, I'll wash everything and start to assemble as much as I can without causing issues during painting.

I've had a chunk of antler sitting in my drawer of basing materials for years, waiting for the right figure to use it on.  I recently acquired the Bombshell Miniature Morihalda bust, and inspiration stuck!  The antler was cut at a weird angle but I was able to use a hacksaw and a miter box to square off the top.  I have the dilemma of trying to figure out a) the right orientation of the bust to the base, and b) if I want to fare in the bust pedestal to the antler using green stuff.  I plan on putting a couple of pins in her base, and then matching sockets in the antler.  I figure I can blank off the top of the antler with shrink wrap and then do the sculpting work (if I choose to pursue that) which would enable me to separate them again for priming/painting purposes.  Anyway, I've come to you brave forumites for advice!  I've got four pictures attached showing the four possible orientations of the bust/antler.  Let me know which one you think is the most appealing choice!  I'm partial to #3 myself, but my wife likes #4.

Swarming out from several enormous dimensional Rifts, a horde of giant invaders, so different in shapes and sizes that they couldn’t belong to the same species, had apparently decided the time had come to bring Humankind to extinction. They got damn close to it too! Two years went by after the first invasion, years in which two thirds of the Earth’s population was wiped out. In order to survive, every single nation left aside any ideal of independence and united under the flag of the Earth Federation, dividing cities into Metropoleis and Refuges and attempting any possible strategy to stay alive…

War Titans: Invaders Must Die, actually tells us a story deeply rooted in a distant period preceding the birth of our Sun, thus revolutionizing the Darwinian concept of human evolution. Our tale makes us discover the Shik’har, a magnificent race of space warriors. For an incredibly long time, the Shik’hars have fought triumphantly against any single species, creature concealing the seeds of evil, and has banished them one by one inside inaccessible dimensional prisons.

Finally getting around to posting my ReaperCon 2017 entries.  This is the one that was selected for judging, and was awarded a silver (low silver).  Received great, actionable feedback from @Kuro Cleanbrush.

      Comments and Critiques welcome.
