I though we weren't allowed to post vids/clips on the Forum?

How do I show my dice roll then?

Oooh. I didn't even read that line. I just went and rolled dice haha.

I guess it's fine that I'll have to find a way to reroll, my first was a 20! A pure white dragon! I could have made Ruth.

https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm Seems to be quick way to roll dice. Is... that link okay? It's to a specific part of the site with no links to the rest of it.

Can one of the three roll for me. I forget that we cannot put videos here. And I'm too lazy to link my youtube. :D

Dragon = Kryptixs (??) I don't have the other ones.

Interesting challenge. I love randomness of this sort.

So for colour selection, can we use close approximates if we don't own said colour? For example, I don't own Palomino gold but do have Griffon Tan and Olive skin tones that are pretty close. Or Punk Rock Pink instead of Blush Pink.

It may be beside the point as I'll be mostly away from home for the next two months.

@Pezler the Polychromatic - thoughts on that? We did put in the alternative colors spreadsheet in case it is needed. Figure the dragons are not Ma'al price, so a FLGS trip for a bottle of paint isn't the end of the world.

I don't see why not.

A good question. Personally I would recommend rerolling, otherwise you're going to have a giant blob of one colour. Unless you want one of us to choose?

I agree. If you get doubles, feel free to reroll.

Whoops. Good point. When I'm off work I'll edit that. Screenshot (online roller) or photo of dice rolls works for me. Or honor code. I shouldn't be worrying about you good folk like I do college students ^_^

Liner is fine. Any extra color is fine - just make the rolls the dominant colors in order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd..... then whatever else.

And what about mixing the chosen colours and black/white?

Would that still count as a STAR 3???

Given the right colours one could mix a lot from those...

Those should be fine, the Olive Skin is near enough to Palomino Gold, if you can't get the former. And Breast Cancer Awareness Pink is a good substitute for for Blush Pink. The brighter the better!

And keep in mind that if you're not sure about rolling the results yourself, I am more than happy to roll some for you with *THUMP*, the Die of Incontrovertible Magnitude.

 Uh, Pez? That's a count-down die, not a properly randomized one.

Here's my rolls!

EDIT: Because the print is so small, here's the numbers: 19, 11, 15. So Pure Black, Violet Red and Mint Green.

Ooo, my Kryphrixis is going to be pretty! I do wish I'd gotten something other than Pure Black for one of my rolls, though; since I'm going for the THREE STAR CHALLENGE that means I'll only have 4 colors to work with instead of 5. But that's okay, because:

Ooooh! I love these combos!

Remember when I said I was going to wait until my ReaperCon entry was done to do this?

... I might just join the hangouts tomorrow and do this instead.

You roll it, it gives a random result. Good 'nuff.::P:

Can't wait to see what comes out of your results!

10, 19, 11 (although really, it was 10, 19, 19, so I rerolled the second 19).  So Imperial Purple, Pure Black, and Violet Red.  I don't have violet red, but do have one of the equivalents according to the chart.

Me neither! :bday:

Hrm...I coulda sworn I had Mint Green around somewhere, but all I've found is a sample paint that I named "Minty Green," which is more bluish than greenish, and there's no equivalent color on the chart, so I guess I'll have to order that (my FLGS doesn't stock Reaper paints). Violet Red is one of my go-to paints, though, so no worries there. ^_^

So, one of my personal mini projects atm is working on some of the NPCs my players in my homebrew campaign are encountering.  And one of my favorite groups in that world are the Hunts - a loose-bound organization of groups (each called a Hunt) of fighters/mercenaries/warriors, each with their own specialty, who dedicated themselves to maintaining the roads and paths of Fidel during the millenia-long anarchy of the Mortal Wars.

Now, what makes the Hunts distinctive from any other mercenary bands? Well, they ride BADASS FLYING MOUNTS.

Gryphons, for the most part, although one or two specialize in pegasi, and a few ride more esoteric things...

Four NPCs intimately intertwined with the group are members of the Red Hunt - a sort of catch-all for powerful, destructive mages. Faukner, her apprentices Formel and Tiercel, and her wife, Charr.

So, I've had the Stonehaven Half-Dragon Duelist for ages. It's one of my favorite dragonborn minis, and I decided it'd be perfect for the swashbuckling Charr... It's a great mini, neat and clean with tons of personality.

To give you an idea of who Charr is...

Anyways, I've decided to do a WIP of this set of minis, starting with Charr's two forms. This is the thread for her humanoid form, obviously - I'm painting up the Temple Dragon for her dragonness form, and I'll try to do a WIP for that, too.

      So!

I started off nice and simple - hit the face with some red, and decided on a blue-and-white scheme for the cloths. I'm trying to bring out some of the swashbuckler in this mini, so I like the naval colors. That said, I could use ideas for the cravat.

Ordinarily, I'd paint my dragonborn's hair simularly to her scales and try to ignore it, but gonna go with dark for these dreads. They're sweet as hell. Wish DSM would give us a KS for these.

And there's the face, pretty much finished, TBH! I washed it with Games Workshop's purple wash, pretty heavily so it'd sit well in the mouth and scale cracks, and then highlighted just with pure red. This is a proof-of-concept for the temple dragon, as well as a mini on it's own, and I'm pretty happy with it! Used Palimimo Gold for the eyes - something else that'll carry over!

      This is Ebonwrath as painted for the Random Rainbow Dragon challenge as presented here;
      I rolled up;
      Primary Colour: Olive Green
      Secondary colour: Lemon Yellow
      Teriary Colour: Terran Khaki
I went for the 3 star challenge.
The colours reminded me of summer in the Australian bush around my parents farm and the Blue Mountains near where I now live, so I went with a base that tried to create that impression.
      Here he is;

      If you are interested the WIP thread is here;
Please feel free to leave your comments, constructive critisims, ideas or questions here.
I hope you enjoy looking at this model as I did painting it.

Ok. I have fallen victim to this insane challenge. More than that I am determined to go for the 3 star challenge. Oh dear!

In keeping with the spirit of this whole thing I rolled randomly for the dragon and got Ebonwrath.
      As for colours...
      Main: Olive Green
      Secondary: Lemon Yellow
      Tertiary: Terran Khaki

      I'm kinda on time!

Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual.

All the information you need should be here.

Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may or may not have a source behind it.

      Your challenge is: 9!

      Bonus Challenge: The First!
      (Is this a re-hash? I don't recall.)
Fall! Modify/paint a mini/minis to be falling/fallen. (Translate fallen how you will.)

      Bonus Challenge: The Second!
December 14th is National Bouillabaisse Day.  For those unfamiliar, this is a Fish Stew from southern France. Paint a mini that incorporates a fish motif.

      Hard Mode Challenge!
      Under Wraps:
Paint a mini so that anything that any armor-weapons-cloth-etc looks like it's patterned wrapping paper. This is assuming a humanoid figure. Dragons or such apply the same challenge to the whole body.

      Stop the presses!
      Bonus, The third!
With the breaking news of our beloved space pope leaving Reaper - let's see what you can paint up as a tribute to him. Bonus points for actually making a "bryanzilla" mini accurate to the avatar.

      Good luck

The game is made up and the points don't matter

I saw it at the World Model Expo in Chicago this July and had to buy it even though I was basically base painting my first mini ever.  Just couldn't resist.  And I said I wouldn't start her right away because she's pretty damned intimidating.  But after 2 months of sitting in the box, I couldn't keep her in there anymore.

I decided that the primed parts would be painted separately from the body before being fully joined together.  Those seams blend in naturally and it would be easier to paint separated.  As for the more obvious seams, I attempted some putty magic.

Color scheme wise, we're going with D&D's Tiamat.
