One more question...If I don't have the Reaper Paint, but a Scale 75 or Vallejo equivalent, it is ok to use?

Certainly, as long as you can match it as close as possible. The link below shows equivalents for Vallejo, though Scale75 hasn't been added to it yet.

Thx!!!

I have like 40% Reaper. 40% Scale 75, 15 % Vallejo and 5% Citadel/P3/Armycolours etc...

If you can add Scale 75 it would be great, else I will just compare the colours with my Scale 75 charts.

Just do your best to color match if it isn't on there. Or make a trip to the FLGS, if possible. We won't be too picky. Will we? Nah. Too much effort.

Thx, I have over 300 paints.

Many Scale 75 and Vallejo and lots of Reaper.

No FLGS here, only webstores.

Got it.

Ebonwrath

Star 3*** You may decide to do both the Star 1 and Star 2 challenges, using absolutely nothing but your three rolled colors, plus black and white for shading. You gotta be nuts!

Main Colour - Marine Teal

Second  Colour - Mint Green

Tertiary Colour - Violet Red

This might be slightly relaxing, if eye-shattering...

I read the thing, thought about it for two seconds and then said to myself, I said, 'might as well give it a shot; three stars sounds like fun!' - and then I pulled Kyphryxis out of the BOX O' DRAGON!, pulled up Hero labs and threw some dice. And then I eyed my dice roller, because it's clearly out of its tiny, electronic mind. ORANGE as the primary. This oughta be good.

This might.. maybe.. be something akin to relaxing. I'm pretty sure I have those colours, even. ^^;

Going to dig those out, and clear a little space on the desk ... *glares at draconians* ...

remember you can shade with black and highlight with white!

his teeth could be a very light shade of green =P while his gums and be whitened to almost pink using the violet red.

you'er still using your colors, just using white and black only for shadows / highlights to lighten them a bit

I'm jealous of everyone's else's colour rolls, mine's disappointingly normal.

I think we need another clarification though. It wasn't my understanding that you couldn't use straight white for the teeth if so desired when doing the Star 3 variation.

i was meaning combine white with one of your other colors to get a tooth shade. So not straight white, but a lightened shade of one of the primary colors

      About
The concept for Mother of Dragons was born a few years ago.
I still recall seeing the beautiful illustration made by Stéphane Wootha Richard posted on his Facebook profile and I fell in love with her immediately – I knew immediately that I wanted to bring her to life in miniature form.
Fortunately, Stéphane was also very excited about the idea of a collaboration.
We were inspired and driven to start working on the project that we both felt so passionate about and now, with much pride we can finally share this project with you all.

What you see here required 2 years of committed development, during which time, our team has created and implemented many variants until we made of it a full range, indeed in addition to the varied scale of the main subject , you will find unique versions such as the bust or the lovely "super deformed" miniature. In fact, this is the characteristic of all of our Kickstarter campaigns — we always enjoy experimenting with new products and offering you something you've never seen before.
Every successful kickstarter campaign enable us to share our dreams with the most supportive community in the world.

In Mother of Dragons you will find exciting new figures as well as numerous artefacts (artefacts? – I hear you say. Exactly)! Be ready for an ancient Dragon Jar, or a real dragon’s tooth. One thing is certain. They will not be the only exclusives to catch your attention.

Now with your continued help and support; it’s time to bring this project to life!
      So why support this project?
Well, first because you’re a hobbyist and a modeller and you can’t wait to lay your hands on a new figure.
Second, because the Mother of Dragons will also appeal to your collector’s side; she will be the “queen” of your showcase, no matter the scale, you choose.
Apart from the main subject of this campaign, as usual, we’re offering great deals, rewards, add-ons and freebies, indeed Kabuki Studio places great importance to Kickstarter and for this reason the benefits/conditions offered will never be seen again outside the campaign, not even in the pledge manager/late backer's option.

Arnau Lazaro Azcarate (Spain) – bust (1/8 scale)

      KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE!

What is this, and how does it work I hear you say?
Well it’s simple. At some point during the campaign we will show some super-secret stuff that isn’t quite ready yet. You, as Kickstarter backers will have the exclusive first chance to grab some of this cool stuff.

Any funds gathered from this boost will be added to the total campaign fund and will also go towards unlocking goodies for the qualifying pledges

It’s simple, we need your support in order to fund the project and unlock all the amazing items we’ve designed!
To donate, select a pledge amount and reward on either the right-hand side of a project page or after clicking the “Back this project” button and selecting “Continue”. From here you’ll be taken to a page where you can continue as a guest, or login if you already have an account.
If you would like to continue as a guest, just enter your email address and select “Continue as Guest”.
Next, fill in your payment details and take a minute to review your pledge details. When you’re ready, just click the green “Pledge” button and the job is done! Easy, isn’t it?

During the campaign, thanks to your help, we will unlock several new rewards so you may want to review your current pledge, well how do you do that? To change your pledge amount, visit the project page and click the “Manage your pledge" button that appears next to your pledge amount and then select "Change your pledge" on the following page.
From here, you’ll be able to adjust your pledge amount or choose a new reward tier you'd like to pledge for and your pledge amount will update automatically.
If you don't want to receive a reward, select "Make a pledge without a reward" and enter your new pledge amount. Alternatively, you may change your pledge amount within the reward tier modal.

Note: you are not adding to your existing pledge; the amount you enter will be the total amount collected if the project is successfully funded.
Everything will be dispatched from Roma (Italy).
You don’t have to be worried about customs tax because we’ll provide a special invoice for that purpose.
All the pledges will be posted through DHL Express and the delivery time is brutally fast!
      18-24 hours for Europe
2-3 days for rest of the world (customs clearance included)
So even the delivery time is a “problem solved”.
      Average costs:
up to 1kg to Europe 14.50 Euro
      up to 1kg to USA/Canada 19.50 Euro
up to 1kg to Asia 31.50 Euro
up to 1kg to Australia/South America 38.50 Euro
We removed “Poste Italiane” from the carriers choice because the price difference is almost zero and the reliability of that carrier is particularly low, that means you could save 3 or 4 euro from shipping cost, but have great delays in your delivery or pay more in custom taxes, or even have the parcel lost.

After seeing my first thread on it (I think it was @Glitterwolf's thread for such an honour) my first thought was pretty much "that looks like a LOT of fun", followed closely by "but I've never painted anything other than a few Space Marines!".  Yeah, well, challenge accepted, because I kind of fell in love with how Ebonwrath looks.

Yup, I'm going into this technically with very little skill in painting, but while I'm waiting for Ebonwrath (and some gnolls and paint, gnolls are the honour guard for the paint, I swear) I'll have both of the learn to paint kits to work through, and assuming everything pans out (aka assuming I filled out my Canada Post FlexDelivery stuff correctly) I'll be picking those up after work today, and then about a week and a half (ish) later Ebonwrath will be in.  Seems like a semi-insane thing to do, dive right into painting a dragon when you originally were getting paints to steadily work on your WH40k Catachans army (and Skaven, sooooo many Skaven o_O ), but I figure why not have fun with life.  Besides, what better to put all the new skills the LTPK's are designed to help you get a baseline grasp on than a gigantic dragon of cuddles DOOOOOOOM that, in my eyes at least, can be bribed with cookies.

Some say I'm insane, I say to be a good delivery driver you need just enough insanity...  Not enough to pass the entrance exams, but enough to be perfectly fine wearing shorts in -5C weather.  :P

      Anyways, onto the rolls!

I wound up rolling 14, 19, and 3....  So Terran Khaki as the main, Pure Black as the secondary colour, and Lava Orange as a highlight.  Well now, that's an interesting mix in my eyes.  I'm not quite certain as to how this mix will pan out, but on the flipside I chose to dive into this headfirst, so I'm also going to give it a whirl as a full on three star challenge.  I'm actually kind of liking the sound of these colours, as I've had a number of different design possibilities come to mind already!

Obviously, given the current promo and Rictus seeming like a nice and dedicated, honourable skeleton, I had to get a few other items into the cart for free shipping (plus a free skeleton!), and for someone to keep the gnolls in check while Ebonwrath is napping away in it's blister pack.  Can't let the gnolls steal the cookies after all.  Pure Black is included in one of the Learn To Paint Kits, so I didn't add it into the order from Reaper.

Here's hoping I won't have to make too too much room in my gaming area to work on Ebonwrath ^_^;;;;; (since it's still another two months before I can get a dedicated miniatures area set up, but man am I looking forward to such!)

EDIT (Jan 7th @ 15:44 MST): Totally forgot to add this in...  For additional information regarding the rainbow dragon challenge, here's the main thread for it!
      (end edit)

I finished this up right at Christmas to give to a friend as a gift. This is the first dragon I've ever painted (though I have been painting historical stuff for many, many years). It was certainly a learning experience, painting a dragon is not like painting a WW2 tank, and if I had been smart I would have done one for myself first as a test but time was of the essence and I was glad I finished it in time.

I picked purple because its one of my friend's favorite colors, and was pleased to find there are actually purple dragons in fantasy, called Deep Dragons. I bought the Royal Purples triad from Reaper and used Imperial Purple as the main color and shaded and highlighted the scales with the Nightshade and Amethyst purples. The crest was painted with Coal Black from the holiday set before highlighting with the purples. The chest was a mix of Amethyst and Imperial purple. I added the blue gems on the chest late after seeing some other examples of Kyphrixis on these forums that had the gems painted.

The wings in the photos are the third attempt at painting them, the first two versions I did not like. The first try was the base purple with a mottling of ivory. I was hoping to get a translucent look but it didn't work. Then I painted them Terran Khaki with the Ivory mottling to get a parchment look but that didn't look right either. I was going to repaint them in the base colors but wondered what they would like if I just covered the Khaki/Ivory with Army Painter Purple Tone. Two coats of the Purple Tone and I liked how it looked. I spray dullcoated him but the wings still have a bit a sheen from the Purple Tone.

The rock base was painted charcoal then drybrushed with various greys and tans and the wood base is something I picked up at the craft store which was stained and varnished before the plastic base was glued on.

I definitely learned a lot painting him and look forward to painting the rest of the dragons I got in Bones 3.

All the information you need should be here.

Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may or may not have a source behind it.

      Your challenge is: 8!

      Bonus Challenge: The First!
      Frostbite:
Considering the sheer cold that's gripping most of us as of this posting: Paint a mini that looks like they've been outside in the winter a little too long - snow in the hair, icicles on shields, etc. Have fun with it

      Bonus Challenge: The Second!
Our annual challenge returns. February Fingerpaint!
      This is pretty self explanatory.

      Hard Mode Challenge!
