I'm not really fond of this style of scales - they lend themselves better to drybrushing, which isn't my preferred technique. So I'm layering what can be layered. It'll come together though.

Oooh. I like.

 

Even if the scales don't lend themselves well to layering, the results seem to be speaking for themselves; it's really coming together.

... and the colours aren't boring. ;p

I'm doing one scale at a time everywhere that I can, but some of the scales are really just blobs and some of them are concave. It's fine, it's just going to require more effort to refine things later.
