Painting Bones Armory Weapons

Recommended Posts

The weapon sprues from Bones 3; can they be painted up the same as ordinary Bones, or do they require priming?

I'm doing my first ever weapon swaps to replace some bendy swords, and I'm not sure if I can just slather on Brown Liner and go, or if I should go with brush-on primer...

Standard bonesium treatment works.  Give them a soap and water wash, prime with liner if you want.  Should be no need to prime though.

Same material as the Mausoleum right?

Wash and paint or wash, prime and paint.

My understanding is that the opaque rigid parts are ABS and the clear/translucent ones are polystyrene. Both should take acrylic paints just fine after thorough cleaning.

Don't heat with a heat gun or boil them though. Washing in warm water is fine. Boiling will ruin them. I normally wouldn't have boiled them, but I was doing a batch of regular bones and did a test weapon, just to see. It doesn't just warp, it misshapes/melts in an irrecoverable way.
