Today, I'm not feeling working on my main ReaperCon project for the diorama so I figured to stay productive and still do something I'll go ahead and start a WIP thread for some tabletop to tabletop+ painted figures of mounts and/or animal companions for the characters in my D&D game.

First off I'm doing these three bones figures: animal companion brown bear (Jim), animal companion black panther (Alex), and Phantasmal blue panther mount (Bagheera). These are for the monk/ranger character in my D&D 'Broken Gods' game.

I will use some green stuff to even out and blend into the bones broccoli bases, the bigger panther will get a green stuff made saddle and harness.

After I'm done with these three:

  • I will paint up a golden lion (the companion to the panther figure from bones 3 I believe)
  • Find a fox figure big enough to be a mount - will need to be about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long.
  • Acquire a nightmare figure for a mount or modify a horse or unicorn

Great, looking forward to seeing what you will come up with.

A few days ago I stumbled upon a video sequence of Vin Diesel and Laura Bailey playing DnD with a few others. Since then I cannot see this abbreviation without thinking that the game should be renamed Dungeons and Diesel.

A bit more work I did before dinner, all the green stuff work done.

So far, a fun little project with no stress. Just doing it for fun and not for any kind of contests here, means I can play around a bit more and figure it out as I go.

I've been doing a lot of tabletop stuff for the same reason.  No pressure, and it has been helping improve my brush control.  ^_^

It's nice and relaxing to me.

This is the 2nd saddle I've done, the first was a skeleton on a large spider about 2 years ago. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Right now I'm working with the liners to prime/basecoat the figures. Really, I want to spend probably another hour or two on the group and call them good. I'll be doing dry-brushing soon and a bit of freehand on the big panther.

Looking good so far!

As for the Nightmare, maybe use the Reaper Storm Steed?

I painted it as a Nightmare years ago.

You could leave the wings of and make a saddle.

Started a couple more mounts: a horse from one of Tre’s kickstarters which will be painted up as a nightmare. The lion I added a saddle to.

The others will get more paint here soon. They are pretty close to being done.

Yup another project, as if I didn't have enough on my hands.
This will take a while, but I will start again.

A few decades ago ( before I roamed this Forum) I created a Barbarian Army with Animal allies.
I sold it and all I have left are these tiny pics that show only part of it.
Also, this was decades ago so I didn't paint as well as I do today ( or at least I think so)

Here are the old pics as appetizers, I will soon start the new army.
      Enjoy!

I’ve been in a rut for the last few months not producing or working on anything. Partly too busy over the holidays and partly feeling uninspired. I want to get back into it, so to that end I’m going to do something different and pretty and light-hearted.

I present “Fade” from Mirico. She’s a gorgeous bust with very striking details and a lot of room to interpret artistically. I hope you all enjoy the WIP while you follow along and please feel free to offer your comments and critiques!

      Here's another recent paint.
It still goes along with the Reign of Winter AP theme, though I don't know if the Adventure Path has a Polar Bear or not.
This figure represents an example of "It looked better in my head."

I tried following some pictures of polar bears on the web: It seems some are very yellowed (not necessarily in the shadows), and some are very white.
So, I started with a base of 50/50 Golden Blonde/Linen White, and successively lightened it up to white, and left the darker color in the shadows.
I thought the fur quality on this BONES sculpt is very good, so it lent itself well to a mix of drybrushing and picking out individual strands with the brush.

I tried something different for the snow on the base, just some puddles of white glue that I then painted with Ghost White and Pure White.

      C&C Welcomed.

CMPA is doing a "Bust a Move" challenge. I've been meaning to paint this lion for a while. The only non blue part are his eyes. The rest will be 50 Shades of Blue. I am basing with Dragon Blue, but intend to subdue it with less saturated blues as I go. First bust and first monochrome! Okay, almost monochrome

Having a hard time getting started back up on my keeper's sanctum diorama... I think I need to purposely take a break from it and work on some other stuff to get my creative juices flowing again. I have this idea in my head for a 75mm diorama featuring black sun miniatures' "Barbarian and the Lost Princess" (Conan) vs SC75's "Brock the Wanderer"

I'm thinking in this piece that it will have Conan carrying the princess through a dungeon type setting and then Brock standing there in front of a doorway. I'm going to really pull from artwork that I admire in regards to barbarians such as Frazetta and Patrick J. Jones.

Right now I'm cleaning off the flash and mold lines, as soon as I do that, I'll wash everything and start to assemble as much as I can without causing issues during painting.

Mood and color scheme inspiration pic from Patrick J. Jones -
