Reapercon 2017 Sophie is now in the online store.

I see that, but I'm hoping to get her with a swagbag.

So I have very carefully looked over the Reaper Website and gleaned the following information:

ReaperCon 2017 Sophie is listed as catalog #01613 at $17.99 - available to order now.  I have one sitting in my cart.

ReaperCon VIP  Werewolf is in the preview area #01618 for October release.

ReaperCon Hall of Fame Screcrow is in the preview area #01617 for October release.

Mina Splinterheart is in the preview area #03845 for November release.

I also saw in preview a set of Christmas Colors slated for December release.  And a bunch of other cool goodies.

The Christmas colors were available last December. I jumped on them. Some of the colors are pretty banging, but I'm not sure they will be offered this year. Would be great for the people that missed them. I'm actually hoping to see a couple of other hard to get colors offered this Christmas. Either way, Reaper always has something I can't live without every December during the 12 Days of Reaper.

For those who are unfamiliar, The 12 Days of Reaper is a December promotion where a different free mini is included in qualifying orders on each of the 12 days.

Limited edition holiday themed minis are also available to order.

Plus the Anniversary mini of the month promo will still be on offer.

So as soon as you spend your pennies on the Reapercon minis, the new October releases, and then the new November releases, you'd better start saving more pennies for the 12 Days promo.

I'm a little bit miffed that Sophie is the only Con mini going on sale this weekend. Can't really justify putting together an order for her and then another one later for the faction minis

...any bets on whether the 12 days will be the 11 preceding month's anniversary minis, with day 12 being something holiday-themed?

I, too, am waiting with bated breath in hopes of getting a swag bag so that I can get the paints and a con mini. I also liked some of the extra non-Reaper goodies that came in the one from last year. Like the little terrain pieces I got, the Aliens-style space marine mini from somewhere that I can't remember because I promptly lost it, the Badger Stynlrez primer, and the bits of string from Bobe's Hobby House  to use for mini bows.

I also want to acquire the Mouselings, since my wife loves them and I think I have virtually every one that's been produced so far.  Haven't seen anything about them being available outside the swag bags. ::(:

You know, it strikes me that Reaper could solve some of this by having pre-ordered "Non attendee" Swag bags.  It might not have all the freebies from the outside companies, but it would allow them to know ahead of time how many bags/pens/figures they need to make to cover the 'outside' demand.  I've made it to ReaperCon once, and I've been trying to get back ever since, but life keeps making other plans for me.  Getting a Swag Bag is my vicarious attendance experience.    I know it's their Con, and they're crazy busy dealing with everything, but I have to say this years arrangement is really stressful for those who want to score the only piece of RepaerCon they can get.  I hope that makes sense, and doesn't sound too whiny. <_<

yeah! Sophie's up.

@aku-chan - Remember that there will be a new exclusive mini for November, which very well could make you want to place another order in 2-3 weeks anyway.  I think I've placed 6 orders so far this year, where I normally only place 2-3.

Totally agree.

There seem to be a lot of people on the Forums who, for reasons of job, health, family obligations, finances, etc. just can't make the treck to Texas right now.

Having that little piece of "The Holy Grail/Pilgrimage to Mecca" made available to forumites just makes for a tighter community and seems to me that it would be a way to generate tons of good will and word of mouth for Reaper.

Sadly, the need to place a £60 order for free shipping (plus the inevitable £20+ Customs charge) makes ordering from Reaper too expensive to do too often.

Fortunately, the faction minis aren't limited so I can pick up this years when I order next years ::):

I was just really looking forward to painting that pirate lady.

Last night I took a painting lesson from a friend who happens to have won many awards for mini painting and this year won Grand Master in Lock and Load 2018. So for the model of choice we choose to paint the Reapercon Sophie. We both painted one and this is what I ended up with.
First model I have painted fully in maybe 10 years.

      Gothic Sophie.

      Yet another new thread!

(At some point I really should think about starting a blog, or whatever the cool kids do these days, instead of cluttering up the forum with my stuff.)

While it's possibly a banning offence, I've gotta admit I don't particularly care for Sophie or her various minis, but this one really leapt out at me.

I may have made things extra hard for myself by fully assembling everything, but she has little, dainty feet so I was never going to be able to pin her to a cork.

Started with her skin (1:1 Rosy Skin/Beastly Brown > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Rosy Skin/Beastly Brown > 1:1:1 Rosy Skin/Light Skin/Beastly Brown), I was trying to give her a tan, but I don't think it's as simple as adding brown to the skin colour, however the colour I did end up with is rather nice.
It's hard to see, but she also has (slightly googly) eyes, lip and eye makeup (1:1:1:2 Rosy Skin/Light Skin/Beastly Brown/Hexed Lichen) and eyebrows (Scarlett Red), I also basecoated her hair while I had the Scarlett Red out.

I finished up this lovely lady last night. She was wonderfully sculpted by Bob Ridolfi. I really enjoyed the details on her and she was a lot of fun to paint.
I always mean to paint a Halloween figure before Halloween but am usually too busy to actually manage it. I got this figure while at Reapercon though and decided it was meant to be, so I put aside a couple of other things to make time for her.

I had a lot of technical issues with her due to my clumsiness - I dropped her THREE times which resulted in extensive repair work and having to reattach her to the pumpkin each time.  There’s no indentation or any other indication for how she’s meant to be attached to the pumpkin and assembly is not my strong suit so I struggled a bit with that part. The way I have her attached leaves her foot hanging past the base by a good bit so I’ll need to build the base up on a little bit of cork, but she looked the most correct to me this way. (She is currently still sitting on top of foam tape and the craft paint bottle that I used as a holder, I just painted them black for pictures.)

I was asked over on facebook how I painted the wings, so I’ll copy that info over here as well:
I basecoated with MSP Black Indigo. (That’s one of this year’s Reapercon swag bag paints. I think Nightmare Black would probably be fine to use in its place.) Then I layered up using paints from Nocturna’s Imperial Purple Set. They’re Vallejo paints made for Nocturna and I highly recommend both that set and the Crimson Red set. Both sets come with little painting guides and the purple one walks you through how to do both cold purples and warm purples. I went in the warm purple direction starting from the darkest colours and layering up to the lightest. So Imperial Purple > Purple Hex > Amethyst > Witch Purple > Lipstick.
Then I glazed over everything with MSP Gothic Crimson which was also a LE Reapercon paint, I think from the 2016 swag bag. (I can’t think of a replacement for that off of the top of my head but it’s a wine-maroon colour.) Then in the areas that I wanted to darken, like the transitions going back into the shadows and the backs of the wings, I glazed with the Black Indigo.

So, I'm working on the Reapercon 2017 Sophie. I want to paint her to competition level, or at least to the best of my ability. I've already decided several things about her color scheme.

Her dragon mate is going to be a gold dragon. This is to emphasize my primary choice for her wings and clothes, purple. Her skin is going to be utilizing the golden skin triad. The ground is going to be a red brick, going with the brick carved for it.

So, here's this far. At this point, I'm blocking in primary colors for the base, since Sophie blocks several parts of the base once she's added.

Advice as I go along would be appreciated. I'm going to try to update this with each step. Colors used:
-09074 Palomino Gold to basecoat the dragon
-09401 Dragon Red to basecoat the ground

So, being bored I went through and sorted out my Sophie collection...

I know there's an 'alternate' version of the 1408, and I also skipped Bones. this is metal only.
And of course, it also skips the 12" Resin version used as an award in the Reaper Masters painting competition.

      Did I leave any out?
(Not asking if I OWN all yet. I'm still looking for one or two in the list)
