Remember we're doing this to have fun and make friends. Chat, share tips, tease us with WIP photos or text - but don't give away who you're painting for.

CAVa Claus is watching... :)

############### ORIGINAL POST BELOW ########################

I come to the Reaper Forums from the Privateer Press forums. In my time there I got involved with a Secret Santa (SS) exchange where a group of people got together and agreed to paint and gift a model for a randomly selected member of the SS exchange.

In an effort to generate more community activity on the CAV forums I'm curious if there is any interest in a CAV-centric gift exchange? I haven't put together my thoughts on how to organize it yet but thought I'd see if their was enough interest to make it work.

I like CAV, I like the Reaper forums but the CAV sub-forums seem very, very quiet.

I'd honestly like to get to know more of you and what better way than to paint a mini for my CAV neighbor in the spirit of the season.

Here are some simple guidelines.

  • Anyone who is interested should PM me with the following information:
  • Name
  • Address
  • A set of desired models from which your SS will choose 1 to paint for you
  • Paint Scheme preferences - if you don't specify you might get a 'Peppermint CAV' in the spirit of the season. :)
  • Are you willing to ship your painted model outside your native country?

We're starting this later than we really should but I think we still have time. Let's set the cutoff date for signups at Nov. 10th. At that point if we have people interested I'll assign the Secret Santas and everyone can get painting.

Everyone who signs up agrees to post a 'progress picture' to this thread by 12/1/2017 and then should be ready to ship by about 12/18/17 depending on how far your model has to go.

Everyone who signs up must understand that Secret Santas can and do fail. There is no guarantee that you'll receive a model. Such is the nature of these exchanges...

That said I've been known to paint extra models to make up for Secret Santas that go missing.

The idea is to have fun and get to know each other. I'd really like to see the CAV sub-forum become an active, fun, and friendly place to hang out.

It may be worth limiting this to ones currently in production.  If I receive a request for a Duelist, you're getting a happy pink Lawn Gnomic.  ::P:

It is up to the 'gifter' to decide what to give. If you get a list that has hard to find CAVS, a 'Big Tator', or something else moderately impossible to get feel free to paint them a stand of infantry.

CAVa Claus can be unforgiving. :)

Im debating, I well and truly suck at camo, so I'm weighing possible requested schemes too.

Secret Santa is not about painting skill its about fellowship. You make friends with people on the forum and have a model to start a new force with.

Don't let skill hold you out.

      1) Will these 12 new paints (73400-73411) be available for normal retail sale at some point?

      2) They claim to be HD paints, but they have white caps. What's up with that?

      3) Is there any chance of being able to purchase black caps for Reaper paint bottles? I could find only white caps in the store.

Are there still plans for a new Journal of Recognition or a similar manual?  I would love to see something like this as part of the next Kickstarter.

Well here it is part the 66th Legion of the UTF ready for deployment

Stored away in a purpose build wooden box with steel paper bottom (all Cavs have magnetic sheet on bases)

Been fun sharing the progress of the army and has been a good incentive to keep it going.

If your interested heres the thread as I did each batch with some close ups of each type of Cav

I won this figure at Adepticon last weekend, by playing the daily events.  I don't usually use orange as a primary color (I'm trying it out for Adon CAVs) so this was a bit experimental.  Hopefully it turned out well.
