I just blew $160 on minis from the collection today, and will be dropping another $30-40 tomorrow...

When I went in to buy stuff today, they sprang a whole new case of minis on me that they'd forgotten about... It's mostly all full of Reaper, but the Grenadier Frost Giant and Frost princess were both in it, and both complete right down to her antlers.

Oy. Shoot me now.

That all depends....are you the new owner of those Grenadier Frost giants?

Hey!

I already got dibbs on those!!!

In other news, Brutus has a irritated eye, we went to the vet and got some antibiotic ointment.

Should improve in a few days, she scanned for damage with contrast fluids and all was good.

Tonight I'm taking my girl out for dinner at the Greek.

Congrats! A lot of people go to great lengths to train their cats to do just that.

Thanks wasn't trying to do that or anything but if he wants to make me not have to change the litter as often then I won't stop him. Will have to see if it happens again or if it was a one time fluke or something.

*pokes his head in and waves*  I've been using my normal forum lurking time the past week reading through some d&d books and some books about world building.  I've pretty much decided I want to try building a world for some kind of rpg campaign.  I'm going through some tutorials for campaign cartographer again to help me remember how to use it.

There's an eerily high paint to mini ratio in my various shopping carts right now...  Minis are outnumbered like 20:1 at the moment...

Seriously contemplating just picking up all the HD and Bones paints, alongside a few Happy Seppuku stamps....

Sounds like an excellent plan!

First pass at the Federal taxes done. Need to run the numbers past my bride, but we'll be getting a small refund if I did it right.

Time to paint. I've got... about 45 minutes before I need to get ready for the evening's events.

I agree, it will probably go through in the end ^_^ I'll go from just shy of three dozen to..... I'll need to order in more than one Impudent Mortal paint wall rack.  Everything in the cart plus what we have will be more than 135 paint pots, which I don't mind the idea of at all ^_^;;;;

It'll definitely be nice to have options that I can go direct for colour with or mix, instead of trying to get shades I want through trial and error ^_^

Doubly so given just how many other things I'll also be picking up, like the stuff for a dedicated mini workspace!

So much for rain into snow today with a "low" of 35 that would hopefully prevent if from sticking. Looks like it's just snow instead, with a high of 32 so that everything sticks. Which sucks. Because I'm working solo tonight, and it's a Saturday, which means that not only am I going to be busy doing snow removal but also I'm going to be busy dealing with actual parking issues, like drunk college kids trying to break our equipment...

Well, just ordered myself a dash cam. On my way to work someone tried to wreck my new car by being a jackwagon and merging lanes with no prior signal and without looking. The only reason that they didn't smash into the side of me is because I saw their turn signal kick on as they started to cut into my lane. All the guy had to do was look out of his window for half a second and he'd have seen my car right beside him, but nope. He just starts to merge as soon as he kicks on his signal, without taking even a cursory glance.

So I ordered a cheap, but well reviewed dash cam and a high endurance memory card for it.

I did a major buy of Reaper paints this summer. Still have about 50 more, mostly the Bones and HD paints on my wish list. Thinking I won't get all of them but there's still around 20 that are must buys. I'm enjoying having the variety even though there's a bunch I haven't used yet. I'm  deliberately picking things out of my normal range just to mix it up a little.

So last night I managed to hurt my 4 month old's arm. Over 30 years of experience with baby's and that's the first time I've done that. We were worried about a possible dislocation of the elbow or shoulder. I have some first aid training and a pretty fair amount of experience with various joint injuries. After consulting a couple of nurses on the telephone and my own observations we decided to not take a late night trip to the ER. It's 50 km to the nearest hospital and for a small baby they'd likely send us on to the big hospital another 100 km further. She didn't seem to be in much pain so we waited until morning to get her checked out.

As expected the local doctor couldn't figure out any more than I could. Something with her upper arm bothers sometimes. Because she didn't want to use the arm he advised going to the big hospital. We drive to the ER there and she gets a full exam from 3 different doctors including x rays. Nothing obviously wrong but she fusses when flexing her elbow and doesn't want to move that arm. Pediatrician did a quick maneuver designed to reset a dislocated elbow even though they weren't sure that was the problem. Hurt bad enough that her mom almost cried too. Didn't seem to fix anything so we made arrangements to see an orthopedic specialist next week. Pediatrician said that it doesn't look serious and there's a chance that it will sort itself out.

A few hours later we get home. Mom's feeding her and she started to use her arm. Now she's behaving like it was never hurt in the first place. Still feeling kind of crappy about making a stupid little mistake that gave us a lot stress but so relieved that it seems to be ok now.

I gave my cousin's 9 year old a bear hug and picked her up while she was playing Supergirl at Thanksgiving, because I was being Metallo at the time, and she did the same thing. She was crying and saying I hurt her elbow. My cousin just shook his head and told her to suck it up because he saw the whole thing. Five minutes later she was running around as Supergirl again like nothing had ever happened.

A bit different than a 4 month old, but it's something kids will do forever.

Also, work sucks tonight. 10 hour shift, solo, on a Saturday, and a local concert venue is having a big show that they're expecting about 350-400 people for. And the expected turnout is such that they have 4 or 5 people working security at the door, with metal detector wands and full pat downs. This is the first time I've seen that done there, and I've been to a few shows myself. It may sound bad, but I think it's because shows like tonight(a rap show) attract a vastly different crowd than the shows I go to(rock shows), and one crowd is more likely to have issues with people pulling stupid macho crap than the other.

And if that's the case, that means that my night is very likely to get more than a little interesting...

My younger boy is like that. Easily hurt and gets over it quick. The one day when I was checking him out I told him someday he'd find out what real pain is so he better toughen up. Great kid but wimpy. I was a bit wimpy myself when little but got toughened up in my teens. I'm no tough guy but I've got enough old injuries now to ache most of the time without doing anything. What was scary about the baby is that she wouldn't move the arm at all. It was just hanging dead beside her.
