It snowed!

Or so my back deck claims.

I'm skeptical.

Kinda looks like frost from here...  We get much more frost than actual snow, which suits me fine.

I was promised a snow day. Work warned us all of impending shutdown because of snow. Why is there no snow?

Because it's not supposed to start until this evening? (at least not here, that is).

It appears that @Marvin has kyped all the snow!

But I work nights... Nobody wants to be snowed in at work.

Depends.  Are you willing to come back to CT?

It's not entirely outside the realm of possibility, but my wife has a job here that she's pretty happy with...

There's a listing for a box of 23 random minis on teh Evilbay.

The box itself is for the Grenadier Monsters of Mythology box set.

The "random" contains not just two figures from the old TSR Monks, Bards and Thieves set, which are always nice to find, but also has about a dozen of the old Elfquest minis in it... :bday:  I'm keeping an eyeball on it.

I've seen that one, too.

That S#$%!

I hope you will find something soon!

Is business going bad?

Yes, it does.

Thanks, so do I.

It's complicated, and something I'd rather not get too far into. Buzz

My boss is trying to help me out, though. He gave me contact info for someone he knows that is looking to hire.

Fingers crossed.

Back to electronically throwing resumes at every company I can find.

Plan on going and getting a hair cut today. If I can find the dye I want I'm also going to be spending the day bleaching and dying it.

In other news, it's supposed to be 70*F today... Like, what the elf Washington?

Well at least that's something.

I do hope it works out for you!

Same here. This was a fluky little spit of actual snow though that blew in around 3 this morning. It's been in the 60s pretty much every day tho so it was a nonstarter.

That little bit melted maybe ten minutes after the photo, so we're snowless once more.

Looks like I won't be bleaching/dying hair today. The brand recommended by my friend who does her own hair a lot isn't available anywhere near me so I'll have to order it.

Step Twelve: Ever after, make a point of mentioning the laundry basket of issues that tend to result when attempting to run Linux without the necessary headspace for debugging, and the willingness and ability to spend a large number of hours debugging; assuming the software we use will work at all and we don't have to learn a new piece of software that might not actually do what we need it to do.

I know there are people that like Linux, and can use some variant of it without issues. But please. For the love of our sanity, /stop suggesting Linux/ to Windows users! Chances are really really good that /we don't have the necessary skills to make it work/.

All you do is make us angry, and want to throw computers at you. :/

I have a headache. I went to bed with this headache. I'm not sure how I slept.. *grumbleowmutter*

QFT!

First day of work is going well! As usual the sexual harassment training was about how to prevent/report it, rather than how to do it well, unlike every other training out there.

I keep loud booming sounds around my apartment building. No, it's not gas explosions. No, it's not noisy neighbours. No, it's not someone hauling their garbage cans to the street. It's large sheets of lovely death water melting and finally slipping off the roof.

Step Nine: Discover that WINE is a buggy piece of brocolli, and ALSO doesn't run the PoS you are trying to install with that PoS.

Step Ten: KILL the person that suggested WINE.

Step Eleven: Stop worrying about WINE and Linux, leaving those to people that think debugging compatibility issues is a good expenditure of their time.

BAM never did recover from the attempt.

If the software you need to run needs Windows then run it under WINDOWS! Not Linux, not WINE.

Eight years later, and it still makes you fume, eh?

BaM! had a PoD machine that ran one version of Linux, an in store customer PoS that ran on another version of Linux, and a PoS and inventorying system that ran on Windows - and none of them liked the other systems....

Then add a tech incompetent management team.

BaM! tried WINE with yet another version of Linux, to run the PoS and inventory system... and lost the entire database.

The Auld Grump - I was not there, but I heard about it, at length. Megan needed someone to fume at, and goodness knows I have used her in like capacity often enough. ::):

It is cold. Not as cold as at home, where it's snowing, but 40 degrees in a tent and sleeping bag is much worse than 30 degrees in a house with heat. I don't want to get up, but I really need to use the bathroom...

On Thursday night a bunch of us have made plans to go to a local barbecue place. I'm gonna try crawfish for the first time. One of my friends said they weren't the best he'd had, since he went there on Saturday, but he still ate 5lbs of them on his own. Also, we're going to be all going there in garb. Because why not?

Mudbugs!

They Lied?

They were told a lie and passed it along?

The weather prognosticators they were depending on doesn't know what they are doing / failed a die roll?
